We've been coming to San Jose's for a while now... I must honestly say, it is our FAVORITE Mexican restaurant around!! I looked at some of these other Karen-style reviews on here... they always have to find something wrong. The food is absolutely incredible here, it is usually brought out to you super fast, the drinks and ingredients are always super fresh, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect at a Mexican-styled restaurant, and they offer dessert! I mean... what else could you possibly want?! Our server was Maria... top-notch and very attentive. The whole place feels like a family atmosphere and my family and I have never been treated poorly here. I ordered the Horchata drink... and ya, it's delicious. We've been coming here for almost 9 years. A few things you always need to try here. The California burrito Junior, the fajitas, the tacos (little greasy), the fried shredded chicken chimichanga with extra queso cheese on it (my personal fav) because it has so much chicken in it so you need that balance, the sangria in fact, just buy the whole gallon jug and you can take it home. Their salsa is so good. I do get a side of the hot one and mix a little into it, not a ton because you cannot eat that hot one alone. Service is always good. They are on the pricier side. However, I think that's because they do have more quality ingredients than some places. Super busy location. Take out is great! read more

We were up in the area and it was my lunch time so we all decided to stop for lunch. I know I can always count on an excellent meal from here. It has been almost a year since the last time we were here and nothing has really changed which is nice. I definitely feel like the prices have gone up a little bit but not as drastically as some places. On this occasion we arrived just before noon and were seated immediately. We got our drinks and ordered our food. It was an excellent meal and I was glad that I didn't actually overeat this time. I paid and we left and I was very happy. I happened to look at the receipt a bit later and realized I had been charged an extra $6 for a side of queso which I neither ordered nor received. This is the first time something like this has happened from here and I'm quite disappointed. From now on I will pay much closer attention to my receipts here. read more

Ordered take out from here on a Saturday night. The food was made quickly and everything was perfectly packed. I opted for the dinner combo of a burrito, enchilada and a taco. I got the burrito with shredded chicken and the other two items with ground beef. They do offer other options such as beans or cheese. I also got guacamole ($2.30 for a 3-4oz size) and a small bag of chips with salsa. The chips were great and the salsa (mild) was perfect! Smooth with just enough spice/heat. The taco was really good - even though it didn't look the best after I unwrapped it. The enchilada and the burrito were good as well. Good flavoring and the res sauce was perfect as it didn't have overpowering heat. Overall, the food was good - I think I would like to experience them in person vs take out. read more

KUDOS and thanks to Kelsey for providing supreme quality customer service at San Jose's in Clermont. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I decided to order a horchata to start off to drink. For lunch, Kelsey suggested I get the create your own menu with Chile Relleno, Tamale with Chicken accompanied with Spanish Rice and Refried Beans. The lunch was so delicious, plus I was hungry for Mexican food. The restaurant was so well decorated in lieu of Cinco de Mayo coming up. The service both times was great. DRINKS AMAZING. Happy hour margaritas are not as strong as regular margaritas but nonetheless taste yummy. I was really hoping this could become our regular spot for family dinners and Friday happy hours but the food just did not cut it:( it was not terrible, always hot and comes out quick but the flavor is not there. As far as Mexican chain restaurants go, this is probably my favorite in the area. Food: Complimentary chips and salsa were served at the start of the meal which was great since I was hungry. This time, the salsa had extra heat to it which was good for me but may not be good for someone who doesn't like spicy food. I ordered a lunch special which included a burrito, enchilada, and taco. I requested my filling to be black beans but you could also choose beef or chicken. Service: Our server was attentive and refilled our salsa when she saw it was low. We forgot to mention to her that we needed to split the check which she quickly split for us in less than two minutes. Ambiance: This restaurant makes a concerted effort to decorate the front holidays. This time, it was decorated in patriotic, American colors in honor of the upcoming Independence Day holiday. I've seen it decorated for Christmas (Navidad), Cinco de Mayo, and other special days of the year. San Jose's Original Mexican Restaurant (boy, that's somewhat a mouthful) is a small chain of restaurants based around the central Florida area. This particular location is in a strip mall on Highway 27 in Clermont, Florida. Since it is in a shopping center, parking is not an issue. The inside is bright and painted to inspire festivity. Service is decent, though I will say some visits have shown better service than other visits. The food here is decent. Nothing great, but good enough that you will leave here feeling overall satisfied with a decent Mexican meal. The burritos are a good choice to go with. Hey, burritos are a food that not only fills you, but fills your soul with an overall sense of happiness. If you find yourself craving Mexican and find yourself craving that Mexican meal while you are in Clermont, Florida, San Jose's Original Mexican Restaurant (there, I said a mouthful again) is a good option and I will give it four stars. read more

I have NO idea why this restaurant is 3.5 stars it is a 5!!! We have been coming here since 2017 as well as friends and family and love it! The staff couldn't be any nicer and the manager is exactly what a manager should be like. The food is great! Our server's name was Andres which obviously was a great start. If you don't understand why you may need to look again. The restaurant was pretty large so we felt perfectly safe in regard to COVID-19 protocols. For our lunch entrees I had the carne asada and my girlfriend had the steak fajitas. Both meals were absolutely delicious. So packed with flavor and spice. The carne asada was grilled perfectly along with all the accompanying vegetables. My girlfriend truly enjoyed her steak fajitas, it was cooked perfectly! For dessert we had the fried ice cream which was ABSOLUTELY delicious! Who doesn't like fried ice cream?? Our server was not present. He came by once to take an order after we sat there for 15 min. We went right ahead and ordered as we had plenty of time to look over the menu. He came a 2nd time to drop drinks. Then a 3 rd time after I sat through my meal with an empty cup of water. His 4th time was to bring my check. Now let's talk about the food. The kids meal look awesome. They loved them. It was a great helping for my 10 year old. My wife got the Chicken Fajitas. It was the first time I ever saw chicken fajitas that were not sizzling when they came to the table. They weren't cold but they were Luke warm at best. I ordered the San Jose El volcano . I was super pumped ..... but it also came to the table lukewarm at best ... They also burnt the ends of the chorizo. Love, love, love this little spot. We actually ordered to go for this first visit but now we definitely want to go and dine in! My husband and I both got the California burrito (duh) with steak. For starters, the chips and salsa are great even by themselves. The salsa has just the right amount of spice to be noticeable but not overwhelming. The burritos are HUGE and have so much meat in them! The queso could use a tiny bit more spice but it's got great flavor to it. All the ingredients tasted fresh, and I added some of the salsa to my burrito to make it even better. All in all, no complaints here! read more

The service here was amazing. We ordered two house margaritas, chorizo cheese dip and two sj California burritos. The chorizo dip came to the table less that five minutes of us ordering it along with our house margaritas. The dip does have a bite to it, but in the best way. If you're not a fan of spicier things, I would skip this and go for the classic cheese dip. The SJ California burrito comes with five different meats you can choose from, we chose the birria beef, and it did NOT disappoint. Loaded with flavor and tons of toppings inside the burrito. The SJ comes in a classic 10 or giant 12 inch burrito, so depending on your appetite, CHOOSE WISELY lol the only problem I have with this place is that the last two times I've been in here the restaurant is HOT, temperature wise. It's not terrible, it's not great. You are welcomed with chips and salsa which had a slight kick to it. Sopa de pollo is something to pass on. Taco salad was good (I used the salsa as a dressing) and would get again if I had to wander back here. I did not get to try the enchiladas but they looked tasty. Taco Bell food is more tasty! What I tasted had no flavor / seasonings. Waitstaff slow and never checked back with us to see if we needed anything. My fav is one of the house specialties, the California burrito with shredded chicken. Just flavorful and very filling. Another great dish is the enchilada mole. Again authentic flavors with great mole. And this is one of the few places where the mole sauce is great - not the chocolatey version like most places that I don't go to.. Lastly, if you like some kick with your food ask for the house hot sauce. Just enough heat to sufficiently light up every meal. The service is great. And usually there's a cool mariachi band serenading the guests. Ok!! I got it...the good part - the drinks. The house top shelf margarita - just do it. One is enough.
