I have eaten here several times and it is consistent and good. Parking can be a pain. There is street parking or parking in a dollar general lot that is shared. I am always greeted with a friendly smile, seated promptly and the server is always waiting for my drink order prior to even getting seated comfortably. I had tried several dishes here. The menu can be overwhelming. Food is always fresh, hot, tasty, and good. Service is always top notch! Sweet tea is so good here. Guacamole is very good here!!! This is nice Mexican place to visit when you come to the lake. Highly recommend!! read more

Christobel Ayala has been a seeker of perfection in the restaurant business for ions, but he always worked for someone else until a year or so ago when he opened Ayala's Mexican Restaurant in Clarksville, Virginia. He had a dream that formed in his home in Guadalajara, Mexico, a dream to own his own eatery. For years, he already had the family name picked out for the restaurant he finally built and opened in Virginia's only lakeside town. This evening we chose for dinner Camarones Al Mango (shrimp in a tantalizing mango sauce created by his brother, a chef) and Tres Amigos (Tiera Y Mar). Both were delicious, but the shrimp in the mango sauce was superb! I'm pretty sure that four of Christobel's brothers work with him, reason for the family name. But we got the youngest server, not a brother, but Jose, who was extremely friendly and very attentive. You will enjoy Ayala's with pleasant indoor dining and street front outdoor dining. Christobel? Would definitely recommend this place. Food was excellent. We started with guac made at the table. My wife does not like jalapeño so he split the dish and only added the peppers to one side. Would recommend the vip margaritas. For entrees the Miami loco was a chix and shrimp dish served in a grilled pineapple. Over the top! Our other dish was the mixed fajitas which were also very good. My granddaughter and I met three other women here it celebrate a birthday. We all ordered lunch specials. My iced tea was extremely weak and diluted. Everyone around us was being served and we were not. The waitress said out order was coming soon. After a one hour wait we brought this to the owner's attention and our food finally was delivered. Not explanation was given for the delay. The meat in the taco salads was cold. My burrito carne asada was luke warm. It contained about two tablespoons of tough dry beef and a slight smear of beans. The tortilla was almost impossible to cut with a knife it was so tough. My granddaughter reported her mushroom quesadilla was very salty. We all agreed this was a terrible experience. Decided to try this restaurant and very glad I did. We split the fajita nachos. The food was cooked well; the chicken had a decent flavor and the peppers + onions were perfect. The tomato slices were a little large...but that's just me. If I had to nitpick, I'd have to say more cheese. Flavors were good. Food was tasty and it was a great late-evening cheat snack. Great pickup service. Snapped a quick photo because my camera battery died but as a food lover, I'll definitely be returning for more. The carnitas enchiladas were absolutely wonderful. The meat was so juicy...you could cut it with your fork easily. Our server Raul was personable and took great care of us. The restaurant was clean and I enjoyed the simplicity of the decor. read more

The food just really isn't great. Not as fresh and as enjoyable as Los Bandidos the other Spanish restaurant in Clarksville. Just not really an enjoyable place. Been there a couple times and had the save waiter who is always rude and cocky. The owner on the other hand is a very nice gentleman and looks like he really does try to work hard. I wanted to try this place a few times before writing a review. we went during their opening week, hoping for "authentic Mexican food" as their banner claimed. As someone who has traveled to Mexico several times and lived in South Florida for most of their life, I can confirm, there is nothing authentic about their menu. If fact, it's an almost exact replica of the Mexican restaurants menu just up the street. There is no consistency to the food/flavor. We got into town around lunch time for our camping trip and decided to grab some food to go. We got the fajita quesadilla and a side of rice to go. We were very pleasantly surprised with chips, salsa, and a white sauce that was like sweet ranch. We LOVED it. The service was great, our food was ready when they said it would be. I can't speak much on the atmosphere because I didn't dine in but from the walk in everything was beautiful. Husband said it was the best quesadilla he's ever had!! Food is good. The menu is sizeable. If you can't find something on their menu, you need to just go home. Lots of the folks here transferred from another local place and they good people. Ayala's is so new that they cannot even get a liquor license. (Bummer!) They have been getting wrinkles ironed out for a bit and doing well at it. Definitely a good place to go! read more
