    Grilled octopus

Came here for 2nd time and everything was good! The server is nice and accommodating. The food were delicious! We shared appetizers and had cocktail called Bella which is really good! Octopus was not outstanding but good. Yucca fries were great! Ambiance is amazing! The building next door has live music so that was a fun addition!

My son and I stopped in for my birthday lunch. The restaurant had seating outdoors and indoors. We decided to sit inside it was very comfortable. The food was amazing! We shared some chicken empanadas and some ceviche. We both ordered a bowl of soup. I forgot the name of the soup, but it was full of potatoes, meat, egg and noodles the flavor was great. Our service was excellent

Overall, I like Ayawaska. We walked in on a friday night with no reservation and were seated immediately which was great. Our waiter was good although it did take us a minute to be able to order. We had the pulpo, ceviche, the beef empanadas, and the chicken empanadas. The ceviche and octopus were just okay. I did like the sauce that came with the octopus. The empanadas were both good and were served with good sauces as well. The cocktail I had was good and I appreciated all the options.

    Risoto aji amarillo y medallone

Every single dish I try here surprises me with how incredible the flavor is. I honestly love everything. The risotto was absolutely fantastic -- perfectly cooked, rich, and full of flavor. And the drink? Easily one of the best I've ever had in my life. You can truly tell there's care and quality in every detail of the food. This place never disappoints.

I've been to the restaurant a few times. The food is good, the ambience, the drinks, and the service. I am Peruvian, I typically start with their ceviche clasico, pulpo anticuchero (one of the best original items of their menu), and then move to my entree which is Lomo Saltado. It's a pricey night out if you order a few cocktails, but nothing beats a good Peruvian meal and especially if it's a date night. The owner is not Peruvian, but the concept of the restaurant is pretty faithful to Peruvian cuisine. He also admittedly didn't design the restaurant for "Peruvians". So, adding an egg to your lomo like in a traditional Peruvian restaurant won't happen.

I just went to this place for the first time. My husband and I usually go to the one in Novato. The ambience was really beautiful in Petaluma. I wasn't too hungry, so I got a salad. I think it was called the Vivace. I cannot eat dairy or gluten, and I did check with the waiter, and he said it was gluten and dairy free. I loved everything about the salad. It had such great flavors that all meshed together. The only thing I would caution others about is the possibility of gluten cross-contamination. After eating, I experienced abdominal bloating and stomach distention, which are symptoms I unfortunately know well from past gluten exposure. Those with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease may want to use caution. Even with that experience, I would still return and try something else from the menu. Overall, I recommend checking this place out.

    Très leches cake

Love the food here and the vibe is so fun! I ordered the salmon with potatoes au gratin and roasted veggies and it was so delicious. I also tried out one of their cocktails called Harmony, it was very floral and the pear vodka is the star of the show! For dessert we ordered the lava cake and très leches cake. The lava cake isn't anything to write home about, but the très leches cake is always a hit (and may or may not have been the reason I came back!). Will definitely be coming back again!

This is a restaurant that we will keep coming back as long as the food is great. The pulpo (grilled octopus) is one of my favorites here. It's tender and grilled to perfection. The pesto dish with the steak is pretty good. The steak almost tasted better than the lomo saltado. Service is always great and it's a lively restaurant with the music playing in the background (not live music). If you're looking for quiet and intimate then you might want to look elsewhere. It's one of those restaurants that provide good food and service consistently which is why we keep coming back.

    Empanadas de pollo

We went to Ayawaska for Valentine's Day dinner and the decor was impeccable - hearts on the table and everything. We started off with a round of drinks and pollo empanadas with aji de Gallina. I felt like the empanadas weren't that spicy but they tasted good. The adobo de cerdo was a generous serving of pork (two people could have shared it). The pork was very tender and tasty; we asked for a side of the chile salsa to give it a kick. Lastly I had the cau cau de mariscos stew, which contained octopus, mussels, and calamari. It was spicy which I liked but the octopus was a little tough. I would definitely go back to try their pulpo antichuchero. It was packed when we went on a holiday, but there was lots of seating indoors and outside. Our server was friendly and answered all our questions.

I had only been here for bunch before and never been for dinner. I had no idea what I was missing! This was such a wonderful dinner from start to finish. The interior was decorated for christmas, and it was gorgeous! We were a party of 10, and they were very accomodating for such a large party. We all ordered different cocktails, and they were all really good. I ordered the Ayawaska Mule, which was their version of a moscow mule with pisco. It was really delicious! I was very happy with my drink. For my meal I ordered the tallarines verdes, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The filet mignon was sauced perfectly and it blended so well with the pesto linguine. I very rarely eat my entire meal in one sitting, but I could not put my fork down! This was such a great meal I would definitely recommend coming in if you're in Petaluma!

Soo good and big portions! We came here on NYE 2024 in a large group of 13 and they were able to accommodate us. They have deliciously strong cocktails, lots of small plates/appetizers to share and substantial entrees. We orders a variety of cocktails and I tried most of them, they were all tasty and strong. There was one that had a Smokey mezcal taste. Anyhow, moving on to apps, we ordered an Ahi Tuna Ceviche with taro chips, chicken empanadas, crab/shrimp fried wontons and calamari's and our party devoured those so quick! Even the kiddos enjoyed most of the apps, mostly the calamari. We then moved on to order our entrees, we were already stuffed but proceeded. I ordered the salmon dish and it was delicious. The salmon was crispy and seasoned well. The potatoe gratin and veggies went well with the salmon. I would definitely order it again. The hubs ordered the filet mignon Lomo Saltado and I know he enjoyed it because he gobbled it all up with the quickness. My sister and brother in law ordered a Tacu Tacu, one with the lomo saltado steak and one with seafood. They enjoyed it but it was such a large portion, it was substantial! They boxed more than half to go and the container so still super heavy! Come here to drink, eat and be merry! Their service was attentive and accommodating. The decor was very bright, vibrant and full of music and colors. It was a good time.

I missed this place so much while I was pregnant. So good to be back. As always, they serve up the best ceviche. They have several options to choose from and you can't go wrong with any one of them. I usually go with their classic or ahi. Make sure to get the terra chips with it. Happy hour offers discounted cocktails and bites. Empanadas for $5 and those are always delicious. They make great cocktails too. Ayawaska is one of my favorite restaurants and the service is always great! Can't wait to come back soon!

Service - the gal behind oysters bar was very skilled, very informative, and kept the food comin'. She created I wish I could call her out by name but it wasn't on the receipt that was texted to me. Food - on a scale of 1 to 10 it was an 11! * Lemonade was had good lemon taste and just the right acid/sugar balance. I learned that a batch is made each day, and occasionally two. The best I've had anywhere in Sonoma County or Marin County! * I order the first three items on the oyster list (this time two of each) and came up with a new favorite. Then I added four more to the favorite. At 81 I don't do well on short term memory! I love that what was done so right was the lemon and the mignonette (sp?) sauce that was exactly balanced. The last restaurant in Ptown and two absolutely terrible with a red and a white. * Next I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail. They screamed fresh, perfectly boiled that let the shrimp flavor out, and again the red sauce was perfectly balanced between flavor and heat. Had to made in house. And they just nicely crisply cool, not in a cold place that overwhelms the flavor. I don't think I've every had one this good! * Next was a pair of fried oysters. I was prepared for some oily, bready things that would ruin all of the above. BUT NO, the perfect balance was incredible!! * Last was the clam chowder. I'm soooo fussy about this after growing up in the NorthEast (Connecticut) and 4 years of college in Maine blew this one away. It lacked the perfection and freshness of my East Coast standard. But I finished with the last of lemonade and all was well. My standard has never been "perfect." I don't meet that standard, so the chef shouldn't have to either. Hey, maybe he's never been in Maine! P.S. there's not section for this, because the above doesn't happen without OWNERS that create processes and hire people that and buy the best incredients. Kudos, gals!!

We got an additional dozen because they were so tasty. Raw oysters - Well shucked. Very minimal shell pieces if at all. Fresh clean tasting. The varieties we had were called Sweet Jesus and Kuushi. Mignonette was delicious, light & tangy but not overpowering. Baked oysters - my sis ordered one Rockefeller and one Miso. The Rockefeller was "ok" but the Miso was "absolutely divine". Braised short ribs - absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes underneath was creamy and had a distinct cheesy taste. The meat was tender and flavorful. The greens brightened up an otherwise heavy dish. Linguine di Mare - very tasty. Pasta was well cooked and seafood was fresh and not overcooked. The accompanying toast (from local bakery/cafe Della Fattoria) was crispy and chewy and sopped up the cream sauce well. And that cream sauce. Absolutely amazing. Wish I had more of the toast to get all of that delicious sauce. Service - we did not have reservations but were seated quickly upon arrival. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Shout out to Wade and Scott. 10/10 would recommend, would come again. Delicious fresh food, great service.

There was the host who seated us and one waiter working the front of the house. The host gave us menus and explained that they were out of the Parker House rolls and one of the beef entrees which was replaced with lamb shanks. when asked about the soup de jour, I was told they only had 2 bowls left. They did, however , offer beef Wellington which was not on the menu. We waited 15-20 minutes for the waiter to take our order. we had not been asked about beverages or starters either. In a word, the service was very slow. that being said, our waiter was congenial. And all the food we ordered was delicious. we ordered the house fried potatoes for a starter. They were delicious but the serving was pretty small. What seemed odd to us was that the potatoes that were served as a side with the hamburgers were not the same as what was served as the starter. The starter was clearly made from fresh cut porates and were well seasoned. the potatoes with the entree seemed like run of the mill food service fries. The beet salad and entrees were also very tasty. however, we asked for the mustard aioli on the side with the hamburgers but that's not what we got. For dessert we ordered the milk chocolate mousse and the crème boule. They were okay but nothing extraordinary . The bar and the dining room area appeared very modern and clean. Started our meal with the Gochujang glazed cauliflower wings and they were phenomenal! Beneath the deliciously flavored glaze was a crunchy fried cauliflower that maintained its veggie tenderness! The allium dip was a bonus because it elevated the flavor to another dimension. This was definitely one of our favorite items of the night! The Parker rolls were served with a homemade butter and they were light and airy which made them pair nicely with the fresh golden beet salad. They served a very generous portion of lettuce and added all kinds of goodies in it- the burrata, pumpkin seeds , homemade french bread croutons , tomatoe and beets lightly coated with the balsamic dressing - yum! Moving onto the main entrees: the Lamb Rigatoni was served with al dente pasta in a light lemony cream sauce that combined shredded lamb shank with green peas. Was quite tasty and it was a nice change of pace from eating pasta with beef bolognese . The other entree was the Beef Wellington and it was rich ; the filet was cooked perfectly! We enjoyed every bite of this superb dish. Our meal ended with the chocolate mousse and the panna cotta which were equally delicious! Overall , we had a spectacular meal and can't wait to go back and try the bijou burger and other menu items.

They were one of the best potato preparations I've ever had. Shockingly fluffy and light inside literally like a potato cloud. Maybe the cheese helps with this? I don't know but get them. Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.

I won't describe here why, but ladies... if people there talk to you... they won't like you, because you take from their tips?! Apparently. The female bartenders I met are horrendous bullies. They seem like they never got out of high school. I literally cried there. Yea, not cool as a grown woman. Shame on them. So my kind message to them... if you want better for your lives and are THAT miserable to treat a human being or any life that way, DO better. Just do better for yourselves, and for the sake of others.
