    Cocktail time!
    Lisa W.

We walked in after a very long hike and immediately felt refreshed upon entering with the vibrant colors & vibes inside the restaurant. However, we opted to sit outside as the sun was still out. Our service was impeccable. There are such a variety of interesting tropical drinks to choose from and although mine was tasty, I much preferred the cocktail my friend ordered "The Petaluma". It had a splash of mezcal in it to give it a smoky flavor. My friend ordered a steak appetizer which she said was divine. I had a corn cake appetizer, which was tasty yet a little bit dry however, the salad was fresh and quite pleasing. I would like to return here to try some of the other exotic, & enticing dishes and drinks.

Churros (these were not on the menu but recommended by our server). I would go back just for these

We went for lunch for a co-worker. It is right on the water so we sat outside on this beautiful day. Staff were helpful and kind. Food was absolutely amazing and we can't wait to go back. Their Mocktails were top notch. We had churros for dessert, but they were not on the menu. I would go back just for those.

We stopped here for an early dinner b cause the location is right on the river and they have an outdoor patio so we could at with our little dog. Decor is very hip and bright and the whole restaurant looks very new. Service was fast and friendly. My in-laws got the CONCHITAS A LA PARMESANA which they said were very yummy and the SECO DE CARNE which looks delicious. My husband got the EMPANADAS DE POLLO and he loved them. I got the ARROZ CON MARISCOS and it was jam packed with seafood. They do not scimp on the scallops, calamari and octopus. It was so yummy! The flavors were amazing and it was perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend. My husband got the piranha cocktail and it came In a fun glass and he really enjoyed it.

Came here for 2nd time and everything was good! The server is nice and accommodating. The food were delicious! We shared appetizers and had cocktail called Bella which is really good! Octopus was not outstanding but good. Yucca fries were great! Ambiance is amazing! The building next door has live music so that was a fun addition!

My son and I stopped in for my birthday lunch. The restaurant had seating outdoors and indoors. We decided to sit inside it was very comfortable. The food was amazing! We shared some chicken empanadas and some ceviche. We both ordered a bowl of soup. I forgot the name of the soup, but it was full of potatoes, meat, egg and noodles the flavor was great. Our service was excellent

Overall, I like Ayawaska. We walked in on a friday night with no reservation and were seated immediately which was great. Our waiter was good although it did take us a minute to be able to order. We had the pulpo, ceviche, the beef empanadas, and the chicken empanadas. The ceviche and octopus were just okay. I did like the sauce that came with the octopus. The empanadas were both good and were served with good sauces as well. The cocktail I had was good and I appreciated all the options.

Every single dish I try here surprises me with how incredible the flavor is. I honestly love everything. The risotto was absolutely fantastic -- perfectly cooked, rich, and full of flavor. And the drink? Easily one of the best I've ever had in my life. You can truly tell there's care and quality in every detail of the food. This place never disappoints.

I just went to this place for the first time. My husband and I usually go to the one in Novato. The ambience was really beautiful in Petaluma. I wasn't too hungry, so I got a salad. I think it was called the Vivace. I cannot eat dairy or gluten, and I did check with the waiter, and he said it was gluten and dairy free. I loved everything about the salad. It had such great flavors that all meshed together. The only thing I would caution others about is the possibility of gluten cross-contamination. After eating, I experienced abdominal bloating and stomach distention, which are symptoms I unfortunately know well from past gluten exposure. Those with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease may want to use caution. Even with that experience, I would still return and try something else from the menu. Overall, I recommend checking this place out.

I've been to the restaurant a few times. The food is good, the ambience, the drinks, and the service. I am Peruvian, I typically start with their ceviche clasico, pulpo anticuchero (one of the best original items of their menu), and then move to my entree which is Lomo Saltado. It's a pricey night out if you order a few cocktails, but nothing beats a good Peruvian meal and especially if it's a date night. The owner is not Peruvian, but the concept of the restaurant is pretty faithful to Peruvian cuisine. He also admittedly didn't design the restaurant for "Peruvians". So, adding an egg to your lomo like in a traditional Peruvian restaurant won't happen.

    Très leches cake

Love the food here and the vibe is so fun! I ordered the salmon with potatoes au gratin and roasted veggies and it was so delicious. I also tried out one of their cocktails called Harmony, it was very floral and the pear vodka is the star of the show! For dessert we ordered the lava cake and très leches cake. The lava cake isn't anything to write home about, but the très leches cake is always a hit (and may or may not have been the reason I came back!). Will definitely be coming back again!

This is a restaurant that we will keep coming back as long as the food is great. The pulpo (grilled octopus) is one of my favorites here. It's tender and grilled to perfection. The pesto dish with the steak is pretty good. The steak almost tasted better than the lomo saltado. Service is always great and it's a lively restaurant with the music playing in the background (not live music). If you're looking for quiet and intimate then you might want to look elsewhere. It's one of those restaurants that provide good food and service consistently which is why we keep coming back.

    Empanadas de pollo

We went to Ayawaska for Valentine's Day dinner and the decor was impeccable - hearts on the table and everything. We started off with a round of drinks and pollo empanadas with aji de Gallina. I felt like the empanadas weren't that spicy but they tasted good. The adobo de cerdo was a generous serving of pork (two people could have shared it). The pork was very tender and tasty; we asked for a side of the chile salsa to give it a kick. Lastly I had the cau cau de mariscos stew, which contained octopus, mussels, and calamari. It was spicy which I liked but the octopus was a little tough. I would definitely go back to try their pulpo antichuchero. It was packed when we went on a holiday, but there was lots of seating indoors and outside. Our server was friendly and answered all our questions.

I had only been here for bunch before and never been for dinner. I had no idea what I was missing! This was such a wonderful dinner from start to finish. The interior was decorated for christmas, and it was gorgeous! We were a party of 10, and they were very accomodating for such a large party. We all ordered different cocktails, and they were all really good. I ordered the Ayawaska Mule, which was their version of a moscow mule with pisco. It was really delicious! I was very happy with my drink. For my meal I ordered the tallarines verdes, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The filet mignon was sauced perfectly and it blended so well with the pesto linguine. I very rarely eat my entire meal in one sitting, but I could not put my fork down! This was such a great meal I would definitely recommend coming in if you're in Petaluma!

The coup de gras was the dessert: a slice of peanut butter and a flourless chocolate cake. Luis recommended a sangiovese for my wife and she enjoyed it immensely. Service - the gal behind oysters bar was very skilled, very informative, and kept the food comin'. She created I wish I could call her out by name but it wasn't on the receipt that was texted to me. Food - on a scale of 1 to 10 it was an 11! * Lemonade was had good lemon taste and just the right acid/sugar balance. I learned that a batch is made each day, and occasionally two. The best I've had anywhere in Sonoma County or Marin County! * I order the first three items on the oyster list (this time two of each) and came up with a new favorite. Then I added four more to the favorite. At 81 I don't do well on short term memory! I love that what was done so right was the lemon and the mignonette (sp?) sauce that was exactly balanced. The last restaurant in Ptown and two absolutely terrible with a red and a white. * Next I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail. They screamed fresh, perfectly boiled that let the shrimp flavor out, and again the red sauce was perfectly balanced between flavor and heat. Had to made in house. And they just nicely crisply cool, not in a cold place that overwhelms the flavor. I don't think I've every had one this good! * Next was a pair of fried oysters. I was prepared for some oily, bready things that would ruin all of the above. BUT NO, the perfect balance was incredible!! * Last was the clam chowder. I'm soooo fussy about this after growing up in the NorthEast (Connecticut) and 4 years of college in Maine blew this one away. It lacked the perfection and freshness of my East Coast standard. But I finished with the last of lemonade and all was well. My standard has never been "perfect." I don't meet that standard, so the chef shouldn't have to either. Hey, maybe he's never been in Maine! P.S. there's not section for this, because the above doesn't happen without OWNERS that create processes and hire people that and buy the best incredients. Kudos, gals!!

They usually only have one or two fish options, and the preparations are usually bland. Wish they had more types of main entrees with good fish and steak options. The only item I actually like on the menu is the ahi poke. Not a lot of options when only one menu item stands out. The wine list is very weak. Only 3 options by the glass for red and whites. The last time we went they were out of both my top choice and second choice. I finally gave up and didn't get a wine since the only remaining by the glass choices were unimpressive. Overall, pretty solid but uninspiring food and wine. I guess it is primarily an oyster house, with all other seafood being second thoughts.

The bar and the dining room area appeared very modern and clean. Started our meal with the Gochujang glazed cauliflower wings and they were phenomenal! Beneath the deliciously flavored glaze was a crunchy fried cauliflower that maintained its veggie tenderness! The allium dip was a bonus because it elevated the flavor to another dimension. This was definitely one of our favorite items of the night! The Parker rolls were served with a homemade butter and they were light and airy which made them pair nicely with the fresh golden beet salad. They served a very generous portion of lettuce and added all kinds of goodies in it- the burrata, pumpkin seeds , homemade french bread croutons , tomatoe and beets lightly coated with the balsamic dressing - yum! Moving onto the main entrees: the Lamb Rigatoni was served with al dente pasta in a light lemony cream sauce that combined shredded lamb shank with green peas. Was quite tasty and it was a nice change of pace from eating pasta with beef bolognese . The other entree was the Beef Wellington and it was rich ; the filet was cooked perfectly! After seeing the menu, my number one choice was the beef Wellington, second choice would have been the Bijou Burger. My SO wanted the Oxtail, but was thinking of an appetizer that would be just right. so the Trout Dip was chosen. This was a half processed fish and half avacado packed into a bowl. Scooping both halves was the best of both worlds. The dip was smooth and great flavors, I would get this again. Then when the entrees came out, and we started eating, half way throught both items were quite heavy and we started to feeling full. The beef Wellington was cooked to a medium consistency, the crust as still firm and mushroom filing great. The oxtail was so tender, it falls off the bone. A different flavoring but fantastic. We ended up taking the oxtail home as it would be diffcult to reheat beef Wellington. No room for dessert. It felt like mostly repeat locals dining here as they chatted with the wait staff a lot, but feel this deserve the hour drive to get here. Parking is avalaible street parking but there is a multi level parking garage near by. We were going to order only 1 churro but the server offered that the churros are gluten free so we ordered two orders! The menu doesn't say this, so FYI. They were one of the best potato preparations I've ever had. Shockingly fluffy and light inside literally like a potato cloud. Maybe the cheese helps with this? I don't know but get them. Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.

I ordered the scallops and my husband got the lobster roll and we both very much enjoyed our meals. Mine came with three large scallops in a light sauce on a bed of vegetables. There were a bunch of shaved carrots and everything really came together nicely! I saw a few other smaller parties relaxing on the couches with drinks. What an awful experience. I like giving 5 star reviews because recognizing good people is…read moreunderrated these days, but this one doesn't deserve one. I'm not a local. Shouldn't matter. Definitely not a welcoming place ONLY because of the staff. People there were very cool to me and my friend, but as a female, the female staff were the absolute rudest possible. What an awful attitude and experience. Wow. I even had the real "pleasure" to talk to a couple girls that were there but off that night (employed there, sadly). Their pretentious attitudes wouldn't make it anywhere with any class... but apparently they get away with discrimination just fine. Outright discrimination and bullying. I won't describe here why, but ladies... if people there talk to you... they won't like you, because you take from their tips?! Apparently. The female bartenders I met are horrendous bullies. They seem like they never got out of high school. I literally cried there. Yea, not cool as a grown woman. Shame on them. So my kind message to them... if you want better for your lives and are THAT miserable to treat a human being or any life that way, DO better. Just do better for yourselves, and for the sake of others.
