This is a cool bar and restaurant that offers live music, though we arrived after the set ended on a Saturday evening. The music-themed decor on the walls added a bit of character to the space. We sat ourselves at a table, grabbed a menu we saw sitting near the bar at the center of the venue, and found an employee walking around to place our food order. He was friendly and helpful and provided excellent service. It took about 25 minutes for our food to be ready which was kinda long, but after trying our dishes, it was totally worth the wait. The potato skins were like mini loaded baked potatoes, but fluffier and easier to eat. It was super cheesy and tastier than I expected, especially with the ranch and sour cream that came on the side. The classic pot pie was a large dish and quite filling, with plenty of sizable chunks of chicken and veggies mixed together nicely in a thick and flavorful roux. Not to mention the flaky buttery crust on top. Wow, I really liked this. And my bf finished every last bite of his grilled salmon dish, no complaints. The lemon drop cocktail was yummy, just the right sweetness and a good amount of alcohol without ruining the flavor. I love this restaurant! The owner and staff always make me feel at home whether dining solo at the bar, in an intimate alcove for a special dinner, a private party (wow was that fun!) or a large community fundraising banquet. The cocktails are delicious and many prepared with a special flair, and the beer taps are exceptional. The chowder hits in all the good ways. The most recent soup I had was the butternut squash which was excellent. My favorite lunches are the French Dip with killer fries, and the grilled chicken salad. Dinner, wowza that prime rib! The portions are huge. It's not easy running a restaurant these days, I know the owner works her tail off. Staffing is difficult everywhere but Torches manages and even opens for lunches! The prices are more than fair for the generous portions. I hope the community continues to support this family owned restaurant as much as this restaurant continues supporting the community. This is a fun venue; high ceilings, cozy lighting, and convenient to get to in town, it's worth stopping here. Their prices are reasonable. They have a full bar, and for the beer fan, a killer mostly-local tap list! Their pizza, which they make on-site, are excellent; flavorful with their own unique flavor of dough and fresh toppings. My wife discovered this restaurant while we were on our way to Bodega Bay. We arrived shortly after opening while the staff was still setting up, and although it was quiet at first, we decided to give it a try and we are very glad we did. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The menu offered an impressive selection, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. What is typically considered "bar food" was presented here at an upscale restaurant level, both in flavor and presentation. A special thank you to Allice, who provided exceptional service throughout our visit. She was genuinely kind, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel more like guests than customers. The entire staff created a friendly and comfortable atmosphere that stood out from many other dining experiences. By the time we were leaving, the restaurant had become extremely busy, which clearly speaks to how popular and well-loved this place is. Even during the rush, the staff maintained outstanding service and hospitality. What truly made this visit memorable was the level of care we received. Since it was Memorial Day weekend, accommodations in Bodega Bay were nearly impossible to find. Allice went above and beyond by helping us locate and book a place to stay nearby, which we sincerely appreciated. Five stars honestly feels like the minimum rating this place deserves. Torches deserves 10 stars in my books. I'll gladly make a special trip all the way from the Bay Area just to come back and experience the hospitality again, especially because of how welcoming and genuine Allice was. Today we got takeout from Torches in Petaluma. What a yummy place! Everything we got tasted really good. I have pictures of everything! The pretzel and cheese sauce was great. The hamburger and tater tots were yummy. The salmon and the rice with the sauce on it was super good. The Caesar salad hit the spot and said all the toppings for the salad which I didn't get a picture of. I really love the crab Rangoon wontons, but the problem was it didn't come with a sweet red sauce, which I really like it did come with a very good white sauce, but I just really like the red sauce that you get at Chinese restaurants the green beans and carrots were nicely cooked. The bacon wrapped shrimp were very tasty as well. Everything hit the spot. I would highly recommend it. read more

I've come here for cocktails, happy hour, dinner, and held our Christmas party (small but mighty in the number of people) here 2 years in a row, basically I've come to Torches for everything they offer (well, I haven't done the country line dancing yet but I'm sure I will sooner or later) and have never been disappointed. Service has always been good and the food exceptional! The last time I came here I was really impressed at how flavorful & tender my filet mignon was. I literally could cut it with just my fork. And I know several people that rave about their clam chowder (3 out of the 5 of us had it), the fish & chips and the chicken pot pie. Their meals do not lack in size, are delicious and hardy. Pricing is not cheap or over the top, it's about the going rate in Petaluma for most restaurants. And I just read online that they have hired a pizza maker so that means their pizza oven will be fired up again, which is good as I've had their pizza during happy hour and it's delish!! Driven past many times and finally decided to give Torches a try - we are glad we did - it is large, comfortable and accommodating (is great for almost any size party) - above the island bar are many large tv screens so you would never miss any action / If you want a more sedate experience there are booths and the main eating area (plus a large banquet room) at the same time the booths and main eating area are more be sure to make use of their parking lot down the short alley (Martha Street?) / Anyway our meals were great being the Torch Burger and Shrimp Scampi with a nice Sauvignon Blanc selection - waitress, Danelle was superb - she was very friendly, knowledgeable and responsive - she is definitely an asset to the establishment - upon leaving we met the owner, Alice, who expressed her warm and genuine gratitudes - we will be back for sure! read more

We went into Torches for dinner but they had stopped serving food at. But a wonderful blond lady (the owner?) asked what we wanted to order. We said we could go somewhere else but she refused saying we could eat there. She said she saw us walking across the street (I have to use a walker) and understood our predicament and she couldn't turn us away. They seated us and brought menus. I ordered an appetizer (baked Brie in a puff pastry - delicious) and Chicken Pot Pie, also amazing. My partner ordered a burger with gluten free bread (bakery level) and a salad. The food and service was outstanding. The people were so nice and generous. They even introduced us to the cook My partner was impressed with a plaque on the wall that read "You'll never forget a person who came to you with a torch in the dark." Last month I arrived into town for my 30th high school reunion. Torches was a previous country bar our parents used to frequent . Imagine my surprise when about 40+ of us rolled in, sat down for dinner and then stayed in the late hours of the night. The staff had no idea we were coming and they handled it with grace, provided the BEST service and the food was delicious! I couldn't believe the old country bar that used to have a mechanical bull in the window has a GREAT French dip sandwich!! Locals have their favorite spots that they go to, sadly restaurants come and go downtown but I really hope this one makes it!!! You can tell the owner is putting her all into it. Torches is a great spot to grab a drink or stay for dinner. The salmon dinner is my go to. Love all the homemade salad dressings. The wings are a must. Alice(the owner) is one of a kind, attentive and customer service is definitely her specialty. They sometimes have live music which is always a fun evening, they have a dance floor in the front of the restaurant. I have been to events at Torches as well, an engagement party, Christmas party to name a few and both were lovely. We went to Torches with a group of 10 on New Years eve, it was also a birthday celebration. The food was just ok, I did really like the cup of clam chowder I had and my husband said the french onion soup was good, for dinner I had shrimp scampi, it was pretty bland, my husband had the short ribs and polenta, I thought it also was pretty bland. I do have to say our waiter was super nice and allowed us to have 3 different checks which made it easy for us. I've heard their pizza is good, I might try that. read more

This place is Fantastic! Ok people this is a new place I've never been. Living in Sonoma County and Marin..There's not a lot of nightlife restaurants even on the weekends.. So we were in Petaluma last night and looking for a place to chill and enjoy some time.. I of course looked up places on Yelp and I found "Torches." OPEN till 12 OH Yeah.. I'm so glad we walked in here, we were instantly greeted and seated by a friendly lady.. They really welcomed us in..It started with a water and some delicious bread with olive oil and vinegar..We then ordered drinks and food, I'll show you my pics and tell you what we had..The Food was amazing, my Margarita was really really good. Im kinda picky with my Margaritas.. It was perfection.. So I want to tell you how nice everyone is..Everyone that we encountered was just so friendly..Our server her name is Danielle, she was quick, patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and offered suggestions on the items we asked her about..I love when servers know how the food tastes..I can't say enough about Danielle..I'd sit in her section again for sure..Very nice person..Well if the service wasn't good enough, we even were greeted and had a chat with Alice, the manager..She told us to follow on FB as they have Karaoke night and Line Dancing, among other things..So fun..The place is very cool inside when you walk in, there's a big fancy bar area..Also a pizza kitchen..Oh!
