Holy yum! What a meal! We shared the Cesar salad, the potato churros, the hamachi collar, and the red snapper lettuce cups. Everything was delicious and gluten free! We were going to order only 1 churro but the server offered that the churros are gluten free so we ordered two orders! The menu doesn't say this, so FYI. They were one of the best potato preparations I've ever had. Shockingly fluffy and light inside literally like a potato cloud. Maybe the cheese helps with this? I don't know but get them. Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again. read more

A friend happened to see this spot on Check Please and we happened to be driving through Petaluma at dinner time. Getting here was a tad tricky, you enter at street level, meander down a corridor, find your way down a split level of stairs to the basement, walk a few steps and your poke your head around the corner and see a few tables lining the walkway. Then I looked at my photo of the door and saw a car outside, WTH?!? Anyhow, when you make it there, the dining "room" is pretty small, they do a good job of getting extra seating with a high top bar table in the window. I highly recommend making a res. After perusing the menu, we decide we're definitely sharing plates so that the 3 of us can all try the dishes that sound VERY appetizing. We ordered: Fried Castelvetrano Olives, N'duja, crème fraiche - this was my favorite flavor of the night. Not overpowering, good texture, bright flavor. I could definitely have eaten the whole plate myself. Prosciutto wrapped dates, tellegio, fig balsamic - mmmm, not enough tellegio to balance the sweetness of the date for me. Guajillo shrimp over huitlacoche grits, popcorn, cotija, scallion - that huitlacoche is delicious, it's a fungal growth on the corn we were told. Sounds funky, tastes AMAZING! Grilled New York with Bone Marrow butter, BG A-1 mizuna salad, seasoned frites w/ aioli (add $2) - the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. They added the aioli without telling us. We ate it, and really, you want it but I prefer you tack the $2 on to the price and just give it to me without the option. Sesame cake w/ lemon curd & a scoop of vanilla ice cream - I'm torn with this dessert. We loved the flavor of the sesame cake, but the cake was dry. It needed more lemon curd and/or melty ice cream. Would I return? Definitely. The flavors are great. Everything I loved that I wrote about, I REALLY loved and would order 10x over. read more

What a meal/ what an experience! If you are in Petaluma you are missing out if you aren't going to Street Social. I recommend making a reservation. The Goat cheese tartlets are unbelievable! Went for date night during restaurant week. We've been a few times before and have had five star experiences. It's in a historic building that has a through walkway, which gives it classic vibes. Inside is a cozy space with string lights that makes it feel Parisian. Service is always spot on, and the food is consistently executed. Unfortunately, portion sizes have decreased since our last visit, and we left hungry despite spending $100pp with a bottle of wine. The restaurant week three course prix fixe was a two dollar savings vs a la carte, so don't bother. I've been rooting over the past four years for the husband+wife team to succeed and hope they're able to work on this before our next visit. Very cute quaint restaurant that feels as if you're dining off a small cobblestone street in Europe. It's off the beaten path, with only a few tables, so reservations are not that easy to come by. The BBQ Hamachi collar was to die for, and I loved the potato churros and beet salad. read more

Street Social in Petaluma was an unexpected surprise. At first glance, I was a little disappointed by how small the menu was -- until I learned they change it every week. That instantly made it exciting, knowing there's something new to try each time. And after tonight's meal, I'd definitely come back. We started with the deep-fried olives, recommended by our server. They were stuffed with spicy sausage and served with a creamy sauce topped with a green herb oil -- maybe cilantro. So unique and so good. For my entrée, I had the barbecue hamachi collar, which came with butter lettuce and shiso leaves to make your own wraps. It was flavorful, fun to eat, and beautifully presented. My husband ordered the steak, cooked medium-rare per the chef's recommendation, and it was done perfectly. Since the menu changes weekly, I won't focus too much on the specific dishes, but everything we had was really well balanced. After tasting the food, I would've gladly ordered anything else on the menu that night. The restaurant is small and intimate -- maybe five tables inside and a few just outside in a covered alley-like space. There was only one server, but she was excellent. Even the kitchen staff came out at just the right moments, like when it was time to offer dessert. You can tell the team works really well together. They also have a private dining room upstairs that seats seven, which is a great option for small groups. Went for Valentine's Day special dinner - very wonderful! We ordered the tomahawk steak dinner with creamed spinach and potatoes. Came with a perfect winter greens Caesar salad and delicious dessert - choice of two and we tried both. Our meal included a bottle of wine which was delicious- a white from South Africa we had not been familiar with - it's fun to try new non- California wines. The service was excellent with just the right amount of attentiveness and interaction. The restaurant is very small so we were lucky to get a table inside and not the high counter with seats with no back (essentially stools) . I look forward to trying a neighborhood night dinner - if we can snag a reservation! No wonder it's so hard to get in! read more

So disappointed! Our waitress was lukewarm from the get-go...Our table had room for 2 people, but we were 3 so one of us sat in the chair located in the thorough-fare. There was a photo/filming of something upstairs (why would you schedule this during supper??) with a baby who cried for 45 minutes...We listened, and waited for 15 minutes for our drinks..yes, service was a bit slow and the food was okay...not bad, for sure, but some of it served warm rather than hot. The ceasar salad was terrific! Got home to take a look at the receipt only to find we had been overcharged for our wine. Hmmm. I feel a bit sad to leave this review as I recognize the dream of the couple and the hard work it takes to have a restaurant while raising young children. But, for the price of supper and the really unpleasant environment (waitress and crying baby from the photo shoot), mildly good food...Others should be aware it is hit or miss to have a good experience and with so many terrific options in Sonoma County, it is important to be informed. read more

Is this cute restaurant a 3, no, but it doesn't measure up to others that I rate a 4. You walk down a covered alleyway (?), go down some steps and there's this great looking place just drawing you in. And it certainly drew people in all night - reservations are a must. The Pork Riblets were delicious. The Escargot Rockefeller brought 3 (?) in the shell snails with a spinach dip and garlic breadcrumbs inside. They were very dry and had little taste of snail. The Scallop Crudo was beautifully plated but needed a kick (more acid) to bring out the flavor. The bbq'd Hamachi Collar was something we've never had but it too was disappointing and on the dry side. It was somewhat saved by putting the fish meat on the crispy tortillas with a slaw and bean paste that it was served with. The Grilled Teres Major ( a tender beef cut) was very good. Would I return, maybe not but the other reviewers tasted more than I did so definitely give it a try. read more

First time visiting for $50 3 course dinner for Sonoma County Restaurant Week. My partner and I were able to select one appetizer course from "To Begin" & "Smalls" (we chose the beans and the trout), a main course from "And Then" (we chose the duck and the Vietnamese meatballs), and a dessert (we chose the bergamot cake and the Mexican chocolate pot de creme). My partner's beans and the crust on his duck were both way too salty (the beans inedibly so for me), but the duck was tender and flavorful without the crust. The trout with beets was my favorite course, well balanced and satisfying. I liked the lemongrass flavor of the noodles and broth, but the Vietnamese meatballs were a bit dry. The desserts were good, but the only dish of the 6 that really impressed me was the trout with beets. 3.5 stars for the food but 4 stars for the ambiance. I liked the romantic and intimate atmosphere in the tiny restaurant (not good for groups larger than 5-6), with just the right level of service as well as noise level for easy conversation. read more

I've been a loyal fan of Street Social -- I've brought friends and family here four times in the past few months and always enjoyed the food. So when a close friend received her permanent residency, we decided to celebrate here with our own bottle of champagne. What followed was one of the most confusing and upsetting restaurant experiences I've ever had. Two weeks earlier, I'd had dinner here and loved their "nuggets" dish, which at the time was listed on the regular menu. This time, we were told we couldn't order it because it's now part of the kids' menu. We expressed our excitement and disappointment, and Marjorie (the co-owner and chef's wife) said she'd ask the chef -- no promises. We checked in multiple times throughout the evening but were met with vague responses, including that the chef was "not in a good mood." Only at the end of the meal did another server tell us the request was denied. After paying and tipping generously, we went inside to share how much we loved the dish and ask if it might return to the menu. One of us was talking politely to a kitchen staff member when Marjorie suddenly came over, aggressively cut off the conversation, and told us with a condescending tone that we'd "asked 17 times" and should "let it go." Confused, we tried to talk to her directly, but things escalated quickly. She started yelling, pointing, and cursing ("turn the f*** around and ask the chef"), and most disturbingly, said, "You feel all high and mighty now that you've gotten your green card," before ordering us to "get the f*** out" and threatening to call the police. There were three of us, two visibly Asian women, and the hostility and targeted remark were shocking. What was supposed to be a joyful celebration turned into a distressing and traumatizing night. I used to love this place, but after this experience, I can't imagine returning or recommending it. No customer should ever be spoken to or treated this way. read more

Such a cozy and charming little spot! We had a reservation for 6 on a Friday night and were seated upstairs in the attic -- it felt super homey. The place has a laid-back vibe, but the food definitely doesn't! Everything looked and tasted like fine dining. The presentation was beautiful. We just spent an enjoyable evening here with friends. Very small, intimate space, with creative dishes and friendly service. The wine list is full of unexpected surprises, which are almost all offered both by the glass and bottle. We liked some dishes better than others. The carrot appetizer was a standout. The hamachi collar was tasty - we especially liked the addition of a miso leaf - but too much work was required to debone the fish and construct the lettuce rolls. The pork main was loved by all, but the oxtail dish, despite having good flavor complexity, seemed to have too much plantain and not enough oxtail. I can honestly say it was the the absolute worst bottle of wine ever. Note to self: bring wine and pay the corkage fee. We ordered the roasted cauliflower which was tasty but the collard greens were too vinegary for my taste. There were 3 dinner entrees and we ordered them all and they were very good. Ate here recently. I liked the ambiance. Had a salad and a pork dish. The food was nothing special, which would have been fine, but the real problem was with the woman who served us. She told us she was one of the owners at some point in the conversation, which surprised me given how short, curt, and irritated she seemed with the few questions we had about the menu. I don't think I've ever felt like such an inconvenience as a customer. I would not recommend - take your money to an establishment that shows care for it's patrons, not annoyance. read more

Getting a reservation was very easy, we were seated in some outdoor the restaurant in the pretty historic-looking seating and treated so amazingly the whole time. We had orange wine and rose cider, the crudo and gem salad -- both so rich and delicious. I had the monkfish for main, and my partner at the filet of beef, really delicious and we cleaned our plates with joy! Revolving weekly menus (sourced locally of course)... superb wine list... colorful, imaginative, and elevated dishes. A few favorites: fried olives w crème fraiche, Mt. Post-pandemic, Street Social is better than ever. Marjorie and Jevon are still at it, and they are killing it. Street Social was named one of the best restaurants in Sonoma County by "Sonoma Magazine" for a good reason: Street Social is great! Street Social's website says the restaurant offers "damn good food." That is an understatement; Chef Jevon churns out dishes that are "to-die-for," "uncommonly good," and "just wow." Marjorie is still then queen of the front of the house, delivering funny banter as well as well-crafted dishes. Even on a day when her assistants went AWOL, she took care of the entire dining room all by herself. The gem lettuces with Point Reyes bleu cheese ($16) was a great start to the dining experience. Fresh and crunchy, the little gems explode in your mouth with a burst of freshness. Refreshing and yummy, the dish is a great nod to the deliciousness to come with the entrees. The Berkshire pork porterhouse schnitzel ($45) was the star of the show. Moist and delicious, it was cooked to perfection: crispy on the outside and warm and tender on the inside. Served with spring vegetables, the spatzli verde ($38) was fine, but lacked depth. What is the star? The "verde"? The spaztli? A bit confused, the dish was only OK. The wine list is still compact and well curated. As always, service is fun, friendly, prompt and just awesome. Turns out she was an owner, I can't imagine treating patrons the way we were treated. To my concern about my cold food, she replied with distain, "I've dealt with people like you before" and then added another insulting comment when I declined to take it with me as a leftover. Inside, you'll be greeted by Marjorie and Jevon, the lovely duo that owns and runs this fabulous restaurant and bottle shop. We've been coming here for quite some time and what we love most is the constantly changing, super creative menu that highlights and celebrates the best products, not just of the season, but of the week. If you're adventurous and love to try new things, you'll love coming to Street Social. You won't find the same tired filet mignon on the menu - instead, expect things like pastrami beef tongue! We also really love the atmosphere - it doesn't feel like you're going to some stuffy, Michelin-rated restaurant, but rather, stepping foot inside Marjorie and Jevon's home. It's warm and inviting, and is a bit of an escape from the busyness and chaos of the world that's only a couple hundred feet outside. In addition to the wonderful food, they've curated an excellent selection of local and international wines. Each element was excellent. The two most "out there" were the Hamachi Crudo with PICKLED BLUEBERRIES and the Scallops Florentine (a puree of spinach and spring onions?) and DUCK HAM. Who the DOES that kind of pairing? JEVON! And he's the one that consistently knocks my socks off with his music that is shared with clients. Last night it was a Motown Special with a hint of Ray Charles. OMG!
