I had a fantastic experience with this Region. Great people. Good teams with good players.

This is my son's third and final year of AYSO. The first year was good and it's been down hill ever since! The league is totally unorganized and it starts at the top with Laura Love but I guess you get what you pay for. This season we didn't get the schedule until the DAY BEFORE the 1st game. In addition, we were notified one Saturday that pictures would be taken on the following day. Can we get at least a weeks notice??!!!! There's a couple teams that are cleared "stacked" and it's unfair for the other teams. STAY AWAY from this league...TRUST ME!!! read more

WORST LEAGUE EVER. I signed up in February, paid, and never received one email nor call back from ANYONE. I missed the first practice because of the marathon, the second because I was out of town (which I was prepared for) then the third because it was Easter. I've talked to the "National office" about finding out something - anything - about the schedule but they "can't get into the regional database" but didn't see her in the National files. They even asked me what website I used to sign her up (?). The regional VM is full and no one responds to my email but they have my money. DISASTER. read more

I truly miss Culver City. But what everyone needs to remember is that this is all volunteer work. No one gets paid and therefore everyone should respect the time and effort that is put forth in order to allow the opportunity for the kids to play. There are meetings all the time to discuss the issues and how to sort it out so that the kids don't miss out on playing and enjoying the game. There is a lot of training offered and support, I've seen other regions and Culver City has demonstrated going above and beyond. read more

A.Y.S.O. soccer "everyone plays" is strong & highly recommended with Culver City's AYSO region 19. Over 1,500 players (ages 4-18) playing at many nice parks in the westside. Like all A.Y.S.O. regions, the chances of your child landing a quality coach varies....but overall, this region has a great number of solid coaches. The Culver all-star teams put out quality teams every year....in 2010, 5 of 6 divisions won 1st place in area. In 2009 & 2010, Culver City won state championships (GU10, GU14). Unless your child is gold level club player.....save your $2500 & consider signing up at A.Y.S.O. region 19. read more

Love this organization. Really geared towards the kids and families (Dad's). Be aware of all the fund raising that will hit you once you sign up, but it's always good to be of service. The Catalina Trip was the BEST. Just don't eat before the boat ride. Good Luck and have fun read more

If you want to see where the FIFA corruption started then join the Culver City region 19!!! Not only are the refs RUDE, LAZY, UNFAIR AND, INCOMPETENT. They make the children not enjoy the sport. Every year, the commissioner reviews the roster from previous season and, hand picks next season's super stars. I've taken my son for 4 years and, I've seen how there is always 1 team that has all the best players!!!! WHY?? Because it allows for junior scouts to pick gifted young athletes to make them rich! These commissioners then profit from the proceeds these clubs make and, next year will be the same thing. It's very disappointing to see the other teams fail against these "Bully Elite Teams" that the coach and, commissioners enjoy watching other kids faces of discouragement and, disappointment. TL;DR: This is a pretty poor league as the experience goes, but it's inexpensive compared to other options. Just keep your expectations suitably low. Background: Several years experience with AYSO19 now, some attempts to volunteer, lots of parental participation outside of the official channels. Specifics: Organization for this league is horrible, starting at the top. They are always begging for volunteers, because they have no respect for people's time/effort, and organizers who care far more about policy and procedure than the kids having fun. Because everyone is an unpaid volunteer (coaches, refs, etc.), the individual experience can vary widely, but generally it will be pretty disorganized and haphazard. Referees are pretty bad: people who are trained to enforce the rules without regard for the experience of the kids, given a uniform, and told to assert authority. Parents and coaches do a far better job of officiating games when they do so, which fortunately is often at the lower levels, due to the difficulty in recruiting for unpaid jobs. When you get an AYSO ref for your game, you're going to have a worse time. Fields are generally in poor to very poor condition, being poorly maintained local parks. Shade is also an issue; very DIY here too. Same goes with Picture Day, although that was extra bad this year, because the organizers (in their seemingly infinite capacity to make any situation worse) allocated a good chunk of the already scarce parking to random vendors (as opposed to the large, unused field areas). You also don't have any control over teams (ie: no getting friends together), although rumor has it that the people involved in the league can stack the teams in favor of their kids. Teams tend to be randomly balanced, and if your team had 3+ extra kids on it, your kid is not going to play as much. Yes, this happens... see above comments on the organization. Also, the people running the league are generally unresponsive and disorganized, so you probably won't get team info until a few days before the first scheduled game, and might get uniforms on the day of the first game. Yes, this happens too. Also, there is fund raising (in addition to the registration fee, which goes to insurance and field rentals I suppose, with the rest going into someone's pocket), and lots of pressure to volunteer. If you think of this league as a step up from scheduled park meetings, and you can put up with all the garbage from the league itself, there's some value there. If you're looking for a "good" soccer experience, or your kid to get better, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

Horrible experience with my son's first year with AYSO. He sat out for half the game multiple times (while the coach's son was rarely out) then when we questioned it the coach and his wife were very nasty and disrespectful towards us. I'm still trying to get a refund but have yet to be acknowledged by the region commissioner or anyone we have emailed. So disappointing. I hope no other kids or families have this experience. We will go back to the YMCA which has always been kind. read more

I was excited to sign up my 5 YO for his first sport. I signed him up a month before registration ended and waited around assuming someone would send an email with a practice schedule or an orientation I would need to attend. They didn't have any kind of schedule on their website and it said I would be hearing from a coach before the first practice. A month later and no communication came until I got a text at Friday at midnight that said game is tomorrow and apologized for not being in communication sooner because she had a "busy last 2 days." I get it. Things come up but shouldn't an email with parent information have gone out 1-2 weeks before?? At that point I text back and requested a refund because I did not want to be a part of such last minute, unorganized planning. I was within the refund policy and contacted Laura Love who is in charge. I gave her my sons name, my name and info and never heard back. I called and called, left multiple emails, voicemails to her and everyone else on the AYSO board for Culver City. I never heard from anyone. I called AYSO corporate and they also sent her multiple requests to refund me and she never got back to corporate either or would say she is busy and can't take their call and that she would call me back which of course she never did. 4 months later and I still have no refund. Luckily I have a great bank (Simple, google it) and they were able to refund me and flag their business. I'm glad I decided not to let my son play as this is a very unorganized team and you can tell they are just in it for the money. read more
