    Shirtless patron among campers

Camp director aggressive and not understanding. Counsellors were unprepared arguing with each other on Monday morning. Sending parents back and forth to the office for different issues. Not watching kids. Public park, homeless people everywhere and not enough supervision.kids were dispersed amongst regular park patrons climbing on trees with no supervision. I walked right in to pick my child up and I was early. I heard a lot of screaming at children. I could have been any weirdo walking in there. My child was crying when I picked her up. Tried to get a refund per their policy as outlined in their handbook for the following week. Director would not give me a refund. Not only that, she was gaslighting me and talking down to me. Do not leave your children here. It's not what it used to be. I am honestly floored. Tried to call and remedy the situation. I was rerouted by Jovan, the new director to the region west offices, the woman who answered the phone ,Jennifer Moore, was extremely hostile and antagonistic and finally let me talk to her supervisor, who was surprisingly very nice stated she was going to visit the sight and get to the bottom of it. I hope they do what is right. No child should be left at palms park in their care and no parent should have to deal with the hostility of the staff. I am grateful to another camp that was able to bend over backwards and accommodate my child. I will go to the end of the earth to make sure palms park is held accountable for their conduct regarding the children in their care.

This smallish park space is next to the Palms/Rancho Park Library on Overland. I never even knew it was there until last weekend, as it's not visible from the street. The space includes the Palms Child Care Center (310-202-4531), which has its own fenced-in playground with a nice view of the green space. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=6edeFnGPrQNyc-W_YWutZg Speaking of green space, it wasn't very green. Maybe due to the recent watering restrictions, but......wow, this grass needs help, it's drying up. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=Kx8Q4q6Ixz2jRWBlcR_vHw The park space is small, as I said, but it does have lots of mature shade trees, http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=65DzpFxhc5WzET3VSxTtsw home to at least one very friendly squirrel. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=VuXQ3iOydJ3pvtteEDwX0g And the land is not flat, it's on a slope, to add some interest. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=gvHa6aaC1rHf5EbjoJXh3Q There's a second entrance from the adjacent residential neighborhood, via a foot bridge over a railroad track (I wondered if that track was still in use and where it goes). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=E-FUmN51qNszJYKF4tHtdw The main entrance to the park is by the library, where there's a parking lot. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=rHsCQ0EF5yfzuorUlKdvhw The large picnic area, with barbecues, is available by reservation only, and people were preparing for a party when I was there. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=E4nwCjsS7jPa2S39kbIpbg The kiddie playground was in full use, too, on a beautiful day...... .......as was the outdoor b-ball court, which is lighted at night. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BKElMrLorIQEVvc6Arifvw?select=iJvBL9pgJWF-Of7mjsHaRA There's supposed to be a community room & a Rec Center (310-838-3838) at this park, but I didn't see a separate building for that. Maybe it shares the child care building. This park doesn't have a ton of outdoor sports facilities, but it looked like local residents were enjoying what there was. And that's what counts, in this park, as in every park.

Classes usually always start on time. They're located at the Cheviot Hills Park. **Plenty of parking. The workout is outdoors. You'll need a yoga mat or a towel, to lay on the grass. When you get there at 6:30, the first thing she has you do is run a big lap around a part of the park. From there, she has us doing lots of walking lunges, squats, side lunges, high knees, knees hitting your butt, kicking, squats with resistance bands, jumping squats... you get the picture. Tons of leg work with a big sprinkling of running. You're working out your cardio and legs for a good 45 minutes of the class...followed by some floor work: Pushups, situps, downward dogs, plank, and some other moves which Adrienne makes up. Followed by stretching for 2-3 minutes at the end. The class size is pretty small. There are usually around 7-12 people per session, a mix of beginners to advanced. And Adrianne is very good at managing us all so that we are able to get a good workout. She'll have you running more, or doing jumping jacks to wait for people to catch up to you. Or, she'll have five or six pairs of people all doing different things. (Kind of like cooking several dishes in the kitchen). She's a pretty good instructor. She's funny. And she'll fill you in on what's going on in her life to distract you from the pain you're feeling when she's working you out. And, depending on how hard you work yourself, you will get sore. Also, I like that, when you're working out with her, you're sweating real sweat. Not the fake sweat you get when you're doing yoga in a hot room. (*But I do like Yoga as well!) Quick Tip: Don't complain when she's telling you to do something. She tells us, that she'll only make us do more when we complain. Just do it. :)

I have been going for 16 weeks now and I can honestly say that I have never felt better. Not only have I lost weight, but I have also gained self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment. I come from a yoga background and have never really been interested in doing other types of workouts until I started with Diana. She targets all the right muscle groups that have perfectly sculpted my body. I am so much more toned and have great lean muscle that I wasn't able to build in my yoga classes. And the strength training she has me do has tremendously helped with my yoga postures! I saw results within the first few weeks of meeting with Diana and have maintained my shape for this entire year! Besides her knowledge of everything fitness, she knows so much about nutrition too. I'm vegan and she has helped me create a vegan diet that compliments my workouts. Every workout we do is slightly varied which always keeps me on my toes and makes it fun! She is so personable; not only does she motivate me and push me in all positive ways but we have great conversation during the workout which makes time fly! One last thing...she makes sure that I can duplicate every exercise at home so that when I'm out of town or on tour I can continue my workouts. I would absolutely recommend Diana to everyone!
