I was referred to this business by a local Boston Terrier Facebook group. Their reviews were stellar, so I reached out to them. I needed to board my pup while I went on vacation and passed their initial free assessment and complementary play date, filed his health records with them etc. A week later I dropped him off for his week of boarding. When I arrived home I quickly dropped off my luggage and immediately went to pick him up. Once I arrived, excited to see my little dude they brought him out. He was not himself. Not excited, and lethargic. I figured he was just tired from his week of playing with other pups. As soon as I put him in my car he fell asleep, and once home he did the same thing, which for a 6-month-old Boston Terrier is unheard of. The following day was the same, I chalked it up as he must have had a great time playing and was still exhausted. The next day he was extremely ill, coughing, diarrhea and weak so I rushed him to the Vet. Their diagnosis was an upper respiratory infection a fever and Kennel cough. My pup is completely vaccinated and was perfectly healthy when dropped off. I understand things happen, but this was infuriating to me. When I picked him up I was curious why he was just handed to me and shuffled me out the door, now I understand why. That same attitude was received when I called to inform them of his condition. The young lady just said "I'll tell the owner and hung up" and that was it. I wanted to like this place, but on top of their boarding fees, I now have medical bills due to their facility and lack of action when he was clearly sick while there, due to an illness he contracted while there, and hopefully, he recovers soon. The photo attached is him once loaded in the car after picking him up. Clearly not a 6 mo old Boston excited to see me after a week away. I am beside myself, and angry to say the least. read more

So, I went in today and spoke to a gentleman who I have seen there before. I don't know his name. I was informed by said gent that the price of the service I wished to have done had increased in price from $10 to $20-$30, so double/triple. He ststed that because (other girl, I believe Casey) is no longer there, Rachel now has the groomer do the work and charges more for it. Disappointing to say the least. Below is my original posting: I used to think this was a good place but sadly they've changed for the worse and have become greedy to say the least. Having doubled to tripled the price of the services I have utlized for months now. Sad really. Absolutely no notice. Just triple the price!!! Thanks but no thanks. Get your act together and maybe I'll return. I wrote a review offering my thoughts and was INSTANTLY attacked by the owner as you can see below. Unprofessional and nasty to say the least. I will NEVER return. I can be treated poorly anywhere and typically for less money, y'all don't hold the exclusive on being unprofessional. Next time you accuse me of not coming in to your shop I will post opics of the urine running out from the walls surroudning your "fenced" dog play area along with the relatively filthy conditions inside as well. read more

We absolutely LOVE AZ Mama Bear Pet Care for boarding our pup Zoey when we go on vacation. Rachael always takes such good care of Zoey throughout her stay. All of the staff are super friendly as well. It's always a hard thing to leave your furry loved one when you go out of town but rest assured if you leave them with AZ Mama Bear just know they are in good hands. I know Zoey has so much fun the whole time she is there. Best of all you will get to see pictures of all the pups on their Instagram or Facebook page which is super fun! Pick up time always goes so smoothly and they will tell you all about your pups stay - even if your pup was a little naughty (which is so nice because they are HONEST!). The good news is the husband and staff are professional, friendly. The bad news is the wife is the tyrant that controls the staff and husband. Due to miscommunication.... the wife became extremely emotional and threatening to me, walking swiftly toward me , ordering me out of "her" business. Kept repeating "I am the owner" at least 5 times as that could explain her rude and abusive behavior. She was threatening me in front of my timid dog that had both of his paws chewed because he was "naughty" and was put in "time out" most of the day. She would not tell me how many times or how long. She said there was no time to call me ???What??? and that this was not the first time he was put in a cell. She said she told the staff not to ever tell me because she Knew I had requested day one not to have him in a cage. I discovered that I had been lied to for almost a year. Please do not trust what they say. The one time that I knew he was locked up, the husband called and told me. I told him I would pick my dog up but he let him out. All this time, I was told "he was fine". I took pictures of his feet that he ate because of his fear of being locked up. I was never told of this practice, I repeatedly asked for behavior reports, she kept threatening me even when I was walking to my vehicle. Again, "I am the owner.... this is my property, pick up the lease"... I had put all items on the ground so I could open vehicle If I had the time, I would have called the police to press assault and dog abuse charges. Then I had to argue extra charges that I was never told about and the credit of a day (who knows, maybe more were chargedJ) Eventually the nightmare is over. Please beware and aware of what they say. Our dog, Genius, and I have been extremely impressed with Mama Bear's BNB! The facility is exceptionally clean and spacious both indoors and out. William and Rachael (and everybody else I've met) are very forth-coming, friendly, informal, and relaxed. The dogs are treated as if they are part of one big family (with lots of dogs). This place is AMAZING! Exceptional attention to detail has resulted in an extremely clean, well functioning and happy place for cats and dogs! All of the dogs I saw actually looked really happy, seriously!! Rachel clipped my chihuahua's toenails today and she was so loving and patient with my nervous little Nelly! LOVE!! I was so sad when we left Phoenix and I realized we probably won't find another place like this. For 2 years every time we were away for more than a day AZMBPC was there to stop by and not only feed/water our cats, but spend time playing with them and cleaning up their litter box too! They always sent pics (even of my cat that *hates* everyone) and detailed updates of their visits and it was so comforting to be able to see their lil faces and know that someone was there playing with them. Super thankful for this place and their willingness to go above and beyond to take care of our fur babies!! I recommend them to EVERYONE. Just the absolute best. read more

I am SO grateful for Rachael and Az Mama Bear Pet Care!!! I could not imagine leaving my precious babies at a regular kennel or petsmart style boarding facility. I know my pets are in the best care with her. I like that they go to her home and are able to play all day. I imagine it is much more comfortable for my pets to be there instead of a scary kennel where they are caged all day. Her prices are better than what you would pay else where for 1000x better service. I also like that she will text you pictures of your babies and she is very easy to get a hold of via text.
