This is the only place I'll board my dog! I can't believe I haven't reviewed Second Home yet as I've been bringing my dog here for years for boarding when we travel and she can't come along. They treat her SO well, even being careful with her activity since she has some joint troubles. She always stays in the pavilion patio suite so she can have extra access to outside time and we do extra cuddle or play sessions each day. But even without those extras I know Second Home does far more outside time and 1:1 attention than most boarding facilities and they always remember my dog and have the nicest things to share when I pick her up. This place is so great that I still drive the 45 minutes each way to bring her here and back after we moved across town - literally nowhere else I'd trust with her for boarding stays! read more

My 15 pound dog spent 10 nights here in a Petite Suite while we were on vacation. It was $65 per day with a free day for being a new customer. Total bill was $585. My dog isn't social so I didn't book any additional time out. She got 4 potty breaks a day. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable. We are very grateful for the excellent services at Second Home Resort. We have been bringing our dogs here for the past 10 years. Paco and Diego are now over the rainbow bridge, but as they aged, the care they received was 5 star every time. Chica is now 13 yrs with a ruptured ligament in her left knee. When we provided information and requested rest, the staff listened to us and paid attention to her needs. Chica is shy, timid and doesn't play with others well, but she responds to the caregivers, chows down her meals and comes home happy happy happy. This place is good. Sam is wonderful (daycare lead ... days). Of all the employees there, I am so happy she is there the majority of the time my pet is present at the resort. Our dog has enjoyed his visits here. We will continue to give them our business. Unfortunately, since they do not do daycare on the weekends, I will not use them for boarding when we leave for the weekend. Also, they close an hour earlier than many competitors (6pm vs the 7pm offered at Dogtopia PV/7pm offered at Always Unleashed. The only reason I reduced my rating by one star is that on more than one occasion, I overheard a front desk employee passionately complaining about customers, vets not doing something timely, and other things. One of these visits was our very first so I had kind of thought she would have refrained from publicly voicing such displeasure wanting to ensure the most positive initial experience possible for us. Apart from that, everyone has been extremely positive, it is clear they truly value and care for the animals staying in their facility. That one employee is not a dealbreaker for us, and we will continue to patronize them if/when needed for daycare. read more

My dog had only ever spent nights away from me twice before, and the most recent experience had NOT been good. I was super nervous to leave him after this, but had no other option as I was going to be traveling. I had only ever seen and heard positive things about Second Home, so was really trying to keep those positive thoughts circulating. To put it simply, I will never be taking him anywhere *else* again. Second Home was out-of-this-world fantastic. As he was taken to his room, he had no desire to say goodbye to me! The gals at the front were quick to make sure I was going to be okay before leaving! This sounds ridiculous, but I was definitely feeling more anxious than he was. I had, in the past, read other business reviews that planted some fear in me, especially when it came to pick-up. Some pet owners had detailed picking up their pets and noticing physical and behavioral differences. That's actually why I chose Second Home - not one review was similar to these. When my mom picked up my pup, she knew he had the best time (and probably didn't want to come home) because he looked SO happy. He was smiley, fresh and clean. I got photos and videos, of course, and almost cried because I just KNEW he had been in the best of hands and places. We will be back! read more

Excellent Grooming and Boarding! We have an anxious and reactive rescue puppy. We've only traveled twice since we got him - mostly because we didn't have a comfortable solution for Leroy. When we were checking him in, the daycare dogs were flying in the door - so happy to be there. And they were welcomed by the staff who knew each by name and clearly loved them all. It was so cute - and I knew our pup would be in good hands. They came to take him back to his "suite" and Leroy went willingly and quietly. We couldn't believe it! He came out the same way. For an anxious dog, this is miraculous - especially with other dogs around. We are thrilled to have a second home for Leroy. :) Kudos also to the groomer. He is not an easy dog to groom, and they did a beautiful job. What can be better than picking up a pet who is happy, healthy and clean? Thank you, Second Home! read more

We have left our "grumble" of 4 pugs here before because of the care they receive. This was no different, except better. They have updated their plans so we chose the Gold package. We received daily updates and photos of our pups. Prior to our departure, we received a couple of calls to clarify items and to reassure us the pups were doing well. One of our pups needed medication and the staff cared very well for him. I make their "wet" dog food and can it up. They returned all my jars and lids as requested. We brought their food, bedding and toys and all were returned without a hitch or loss. It is worth every penny for us to have this reassurance that our "babies" are well cared for and happy. The staff who work there really seem to love animals and it shows! We have brought our dogs, Frisco and Bowser there several times. Great experience boarding our two cats here for almost three weeks. All staff members were caring and kind and facility is clean and welcoming. They even called us when our cats weren't eating and offered solutions. We would absolutely board our kitties here again in the penthouse suite. We have been using Second Home Pet Resort for almost 2 years. In the beginning, my now 2 1/2 year old Bernadoodle was very nervous. Now when we drop him off he doesn't even look back at us. I have been boarding my dogs at Second Home for a few years now and it is always such a positive experience. The staff at Second Home clearly loves working with animals and my dogs always come home happy and a good kind of tired. They have a water park, which my Lab and several of my other dogs have loved. I am so happy I found Second Home Pet Resort! We board our pup here when we are away, and he has a blast. They are very transparent about exactly what your pup's stay will look like. When you book, you can add packages that include water park time, cuddle time, and treats. They also have report cards and pictures/videos of your pets during their stay. The staff are all so friendly and recognize Bruce right when we walk in. He remembers them and is so excited to greet them. You can tell they love animals and I always feel fine leaving Bruce with them. The report cards and update pictures are the best! These are true pet people! We booked our dogs there for the first time this weekend. Early in his stay, our 14-year-old became extremely anxious. We wouldn't have ever known, of course, but they called to tell us - which I respected and appreciated so much. Second Home Pet Resort is truly heaven on earth for pets! I HIGHLY recommend to anyone in need of care for there pets. I had to fly to Chicago for a wedding and couldn't bring my service dog because I wasn't sure how she would handle going on a plane ride. I have never left my dog alone for even one day or overnight. She hasn't even been home alone for more than an hour or two. Obviously leaving her anywhere with anyone for the very first time was a struggle and extremely nerve wrecking for me and my dog. Not with Second home pet resort... it was truly such a blessing knowing she was in safe hands! The staff were all so welcoming, kind and understanding. I specifically want to thank and talk about MEGAN and JA! These two women are absolutely the sweetest and most loving animal people I've ever met!! Megan spent so much time answering all of my questions I had before making my pets reservation. After speaking with her, I felt so at peace and knew my dog was going to have a wonderful time. She helped me get my puppy signed up for pool play time and informed me of the 24/7 live video cam access which I added, so I could see my puppy at all times in her room. MEGAN also gave me an in person tour of the entire resort which was gorgeous! I was able to look at all the room options and then I decided to go with the indoor/outdoor patio elite suite. Words cannot express how thankful I am for MEGAN going above and beyond helping me! She is such a sweetheart and she is the main reason I decided to book my reservation for my puppy at this resort. Also, I would like to thank JA. She was in charge of taking care of my puppy during her pool time. I have to say, she is absolutely wonderful! JA went out of her way and sent me the most precious photos of my puppy having the time of her life! She even threw balls into the water for my dog because I told her that is her favorite. She looked so happy in every photo and I could tell she was having a blast! Thank you JA for taking such amazing care of my puppy! Overall, I highly recommend Second Home Pet Resort! I consider myself to be quite the overprotective pet parent but with second home, I truly felt at ease throughout the entire process. I have previously used them for boarding for cats and I love that they actually let them out of there cages. For boarding cats they typically are left in a cage the entire time. They also have someone on site 24/7. So when we got a puppy we took him there for daycare where he is very loved and enjoys water days in there pools. Staff is so loving to our dog, friendly and always communicates if anything happens unusual during the day (such as an upset tummy). I only wish they had cameras for daycare. We love taking our puppy here and he loves it!!! read more

She had been out of town when the incident occurred but was following up with me about it. We had a fruitful conversation about what transpired and how things worked out. She took the time to listen to my concerns and disappointment about how everything was handled. She gave me reassurance that they genuinely care about their customers and try their hardest to resolve issues the best they can, hence her call. She volunteered to assist me with the vet costs which I greatly appreciated. I was grateful that she called and disproved my assumption that what had happened wasn't important to them. Before this incident, I had been so excited to leave my dog here as they do have a nice play area and many different options to accommodate different dogs/requests. I am happy to know they do care and want to make sure their guests have a good experience. I appreciate the follow up and assistance in resolving my issue! Accidents are bound to happen. Update: I took my dogs here for a full week while I was on vacation and had a lovely experience just as I described in my original review. I'm making an update to help other people be aware of their policy when you board multiple pets. THEY WILL BOARD YOUR PETS TOGETHER UNLESS YOU CALL AND REQUEST OTHERWISE. This was a big issues for me because the reason I needed to board my 2 animals is because of their aggression towards each other. Luckily, they were able to snag another suite for us but it was a big shock when we were told they planned to put them together. My only request to Second Home Pet Resort is that they implement a question/answer box when making your reservation so this doesn't happen to future guests. I had no idea this was an automatic thing and couldn't find where this was made clear on their website. Other than that, we had an awesome experience and our pets were VERY well taken care of. We were visiting town for a few months and a work trip popped up. I went through the ringer trying to find a boarding place that was transparent about where my dogs would be and how they would spend their day. Second Home was absolutely the very best. When you walk in they cry out your dogs names and are so very welcoming! My dogs got a free day of daycare after completing their daycare personality evaluations and boarding was wonderful. I highly recommend a patio suite if you can snag one early. I did a half day of daycare and then the 2nd half of the day they spent in their patio suite relaxing outside/inside. I later brought them back for a single day of daycare and had the same great experience. This place was a real lifesaver for me and made me feel at ease leaving them somewhere unfamiliar when I had to pop out of town. read more

Made an appointment for a tour and was told when I arrived that it is very noisy in the back (seemed to be told that to deter me from touring). Thank goodness we made the decision to take my grumble to another resort which was in comparison the best decision we could have done. I HIGHLY recommend Danmar Pet Resort. We dropped off our 5 year old cat (Patches) for a four day boarding stay. We really like the fact that there are "condos" for longer term stays, and that our Patches had her own area to relax during her stay. It is comforting for us that we can place the care of our pet with such professional and friendly staff here. The facilities are modern, and the check in area reminds us of a beautiful resort...just for pets! The staff is great, and we want to than Sherry for the debrief on Patches' latest visit. Apparently she is shy to start, and likes to spend time in her travel box for security. It is a high level of trust that is transferred when placing your loved pet in someone elses care...and we feel confident each time we drop off Patches that she is receiving the same care we would give as owners. I had never placed my cats in a boarding facility before and was nervous, scared, and anxious. I am a recent transplant to Arizona and didn't know anyone who used a boarding facility for cats. Most boarding facilities were geared for dogs. During an online search, I came across Second Home Pet Resort. I read through all the cat information and decided to place a call. I appreciated the fact that the cats and dogs are in separate wings of the building and that there is a staff member onsite overnight. Second Home Pet Resort also kept me updated if my cats had any problems and they were able to talk me through solutions. I also would call and staff members filled me in on my cats stay. Even though they are an hour away from my home, I feel comfortable bringing my cats there and I am happy with the care my cats receive when they are not in their home. I recently took my 3-year-old Husky mix Shadow to Second Home for a bath, brush and nail trim. Shadow had been boarded at Second Home a couple of times, but this was the first time I used them for grooming. I was very pleased with the job done by Arisa. Shadow had been shedding a lot, and when she came home she was no longer shedding, and her fur was really soft and shiny! I paid a bit more than I have for dog baths at other places, but I think it was worth it for the excellent job. read more
