My referral was originally for specifically Dr. Nasser, however I was sent to a different doctor at this practice due to my old practice deciding to do away with their pain managment specialty all together. I understand that they have questions they need to ask as per their job and state/federal regulations on pain managment, however, Dr. Glenn sounded VERY accusatory from the git go. And i get it to some degree, I CHOSE to be on a medication that's typically given to people struggling with dependency/addiction, but id hope a doctor would be able to set their preconceived notions aside to effectively and correctly do their job and thats not why im on this particular med, im on it cuz It works better than traditional opiods and my prior pain managment doctor boasted about how its safer and id agree. But from the moment he saw my charts, things were off. I didn't realize right away that he didn't have ALL of my records, so when I was begrudgingly asked if I used recreational drugs, I said no, thinking that my open Marijuana usage was listed and he could see it, Dr. Glenn clapped back with "you've never done recreational drugs" (as if I was lying) I responded with "I mean as an adult, no. As a teen yeah, what teen doesn't" and Dr. Glenn asks what i tried as a teen (my last teen year was 13 years ago mind you) I gave him the information he was asking for. We move on to him asking if I'd ever received surgery for the things im complaining of, answer was no. Then I get told "well if I had been told I have significant narrowing of the hip space joints, I'd have gone and got surgery" i interrupted at that point and said "today's march 11th, I wasn't told about the hip space issues until february 25th... there hasn't been enough time to figure things out". Which i would assume, if he had access to that specific record, he likely had access to see when imagining was actually taken, but maybe im wrong. He asks me to take UA as normal for pain management and told me he wasn't gonna have me sign a pain managment contract "in case things didn't work out"... fast forward to march 25th, my next appointment with him (he wanted to see me when I was supposed to have a refill of meds) I drive the hour from my house to the facility (which Dr. Glenn was made aware in march 11th appointment that I lived an hour away) once i make it inside im told that they cant complete the appointment because they dont have my records. To which they send another request and ask me to reach out to my pcp, which I do before leaving the parking lot on the 25th. 26th I hear from my PCP that records were already sent, 27th I call az pain treatment to set up a new appointment, while on the phone with the receptionist, i explain that the doctor canceled my 3/25 appointment because he "didnt have all my records", to which the receptionist informs me "i must have misunderstood because they have all my records from what she can tell", i explained thats verbatim what the lady at the front desk said, my husband was standing right there when it was said, definitely not a misunderstanding" and she said "hmm thats weird, you chdck all our boxes for setting up an appointment so we will go ahead and set one up for you". The appointment was set for March 31st. The 31st rolls around and I at least got a phone call this time, telling me not to drive the hour away, because "Dr. Glenn thinks you're not fit for our practice, and that you need to go to orthopedic surgery" Being that my pcm used to be a pain managment doctor, they found that odd as they were trained to avoid surgery unless absolutely necessary, especially for someone in my age group. That being said, I feel more so that this doctor thought I had other issues, and wrote me off from the git go and if that's not the case, then his bedside manner is seriously lacking. Even if I had a drug dependency/addiction issue, being accusatory isn't actually helpful. But aside from that, ive been in therapy over 10 years and continue to go because of the addiction that runs heavily in my family, I wanted to make sure to never be like my parents and ive done a really good job at that, and I'll be damned if I get accused of anything im not doing let alone something ive actively worked towards avoiding my entire existence. Needless to say, im thankful it didn't work out and that I didn't sign a pain managment contract with Dr. Glenn. I do wish I had been given the opportunity to see Dr. Nasser, I hear he's nice and who I thought I was seeing until I spoke with my PCP again today. I appreciate that they listen and are not close minded. The experience from the initial phone call to a new patient screener to the first appointment was exceptional. My complete history was documented and the physical was thorough. My experiences elsewhere were full of expectations that devices would be implanted as I was handed brochures to read up about them so that when the sales pitch came, I was somewhat knowledgeable about what they had planned for my treatment. Although I had been diagnosed with Neuropathy, I wasn't diabetic. They only assumed how they would treat my pain without an exam and just using the BUZZWORDS, my cure was in the brochure (which included surgery, physical therapy and THOUSANDS of dollars). Complete waste of time and money, paired with false hope and information offered by the director of operations and one of the main doctors. I was looking to make a change to another pain doctor to care for my pain. After 50 different doctors and 50 different drugs, I finally reluctantly tried opioids, and they changed my life. Everything was great and then the opioid laws changed around 2017. Due to how ridiculous the opioid laws are at this point, I made no bones about it when I was calling new pain doctors. Everyone except this office said "no, we don't do over 90 MME and we can't help you." I appreciated the directness, the time, money, and pain saved from having to make a drive in to and pay for an appointment . The first thing I said to all of them was "I am a patient that is at 90 MME or 60 mg of oxycodone per day, and I have been there for 10 years... obviously my body is extremely used to this dose, and I am seeking higher than 90MME or 60 mg of oxycodone, can you do this and does your office do this?" Deb said that they absolutely do, at the doctors discretion" then she elaborated in detail and gave me a lot of hope and did insinuated that they would. I then made an appointment to speak with Kait. Kait said the same thing, she just didn't say how much above 90 MME they could help me. She also began to mention a myriad of alternative medications that I didn't want, and countless procedures, implants etc. that they performed, and all different types of scary, painful sounding tests. When I straight up asked her if they were painful, she said yes. Then, almost in the same breath, immediately after talking about all of these procedures, she talked in a negative way about how some pain practices push procedures on people.. I walked out of there feeling like if I signed up with them, I would immediately have a ton of procedures pushed on me, an implant, a spinal procedure of some type, and then I began to feel like they probably *wouldn't* even increase my medication. Deb, Stephanie, Suzy, & Kait were very nice... but I'm not looking for people to just smile and be nice to me... I was looking for what the two women had both told me was possible, and they both made me feel like was very likely that they would increase in my pain medication. After thinking about it for a few days, I thought, "wait a minute... they just insinuated that I would be able to get more pain medication, I don't even have any concrete answers from the doctor that I talked to..." I called them and asked for two simple answers to two simple questions before switching over to their office... I said "I was told by both women that you could increase my pain medication, 1) what is the exact amount of pain medication that I would start at if I switched over to your office, and 2) , if I signed on with them, can I get a commitment from to not have a bunch of new procedures pushed on me for a period of 12 months...?" I said "I will consider doing other procedures, but I already have to go through multiple surgeries in the next year and I don't want to have other procedures pushed on me over the course of the next 12 months while 1) I'm already enduring pain from my existing condition, and 2) additional pain from other surgeries. I received a response via email, my questions were dodged, and they told me to take a hike.. here it is: "Kait needed to have our medical director review your case. We heard back from him. At this time for our practice, you have a challenges we cannot meet regarding treatment and medication management." Well that was a complete waste of time and money that exacerbated my symptoms for 3 days. Kait told me the complete polar opposite of what the medical Director told me. She told me there were countless procedures and medications they could give me that could help me, and tests they wanted to do! Now they send me a single sentence saying that I "have challenges they cannot meet". The director of operations, the main doctor, and the medical director are all on different pages.. one thing is for sure, they're about $300 richer just to tell me the same thing that the other place told me on the phone for free in 30 seconds...."we can't help you, go somewhere else." And people wonder why this country has a fentanyl epidemic and what pain patients have been killing themselves and record numbers. Try doing it the right way sometime and see how expensive, painful, and insanely difficult it is. My wife was a patient here for awhile and really spoke very highly of Kate. I was in a pretty serious motorcycle accident landed on my neck, I was told i needed to be seen by a surgeon and pain management as soon as possible. So my wife of course set up all my appointments. I had my Ct-Scan that i had brought in to them. Did not see my wifes provider i saw Orzoco, i dont remember her first name and i do not recommend you or anyone to see her. She basically only focused on my road rash more than anything. Not my pain in my neck, not my lower back either. I couldn't believe it. Now mind you I'm not one to even like to take a pill. But I was in an extreme amount of pain and agony. She pretty much said I can't prescribe you anything . You're not in the system . I can't go off what any Ct-Scan has to say. Now mind you when I saw the surgeon I had asked him , is a Ct-Scan not accurate vs an MRI? He said they will tell you both the exact same thing. Let's go back to my visit with ORZOCO. She said pain medication only helps you not think about the pain. I will lose my license if I prescribe off just a CT-Scan. I will send the orders for the MRI, and let's follow up next month. My wife saw Kate at her visit , told her what had happened. Kate said bring him in, to see me. I will see him. I was pretty happy at that point. But it only took 5 months for Simon Med to get the order. My wife called and called , Deb kept saying "I SENT IT, I SENT IT" every time my wife would call in to this place , she always kept getting transferred to Deb, and you can totally tell through the phone that this lady had no PATIENCE FOR MY WIFE. I believe that was the reason my wife self discharged from the practice. Finally after my wife calling and calling we got the order sent correctly. My wife re-made my appointment because they wouldn't see me with out the MRI-even though we had my CT/Scan. My wife emailed DEB, my reports. (At this point my wife is no longer a patient and she self discharged, she wasn't discharged on their behalf) they called me the day of my appointment and said THEY CAN NOT SEE ME DUE TO THE FACT, that my injuries to my neck and back are to severe for them. That I need injections and medication. Till this day I'm still confused by there being any excuse. Isn't this the reason they are even in business? Like I am speechless. And that I have never been in pain management before. This place is an absolute nightmare. Deb is an absolute disgrace and ORZOCO is a nightmare , if you come here avoid here at all cost read more

There are two sides to every story. I was up front and truthful with the doc on how a bad matabolite would have got in my system. She would have none of it. I've been taking pain meds for almost 40 years and I am not so stupid as to snort drugs and go to a Dr's and take a urine test. She is so positive I must have snorted coke 4 days before I went there. Then when i told her where i lived i was automatically cosidered some kind of dope addict. I told her how it got in my system but to quote the Dr...... "I've been doing this for 36 years and I know you snorted drugs 4 days ago" so I was dumped. Other than that most of the staff are decent except the nurse. Why do these people work in these clinics if they hate old people that are in pain? Go figure. The doc was nice until she saw the motablite in my test(s). Even after I told her how it got there. Until their attitude started to change throughout I never had any issues with my provider Kate , I brought my husband in because he was in a really bad motorcycle accident , he was in really really bad shape . Ever since I brought my husband in to be seen by her last name was "Orozco" . And if you do come here , don't see her ! Run as fast as you can. She pretty much said the pain is all in his head and all the medication does it make you not think about it. She needs to find another profession . So when I spoken to Kate , she said bring him in , I will see him . I will see him no problem at all . Well it took 5 months for them to actually get the fax number correct to Simon Med for his imaging . FIVE MONTHS!!!! He got his imaging back . And the results were worse than I thought. I get a call for the manager or whom ever she is to this place , and she said his injuries are so severe , we CANT SEE HIM, say what ? She said yea he needs more of a treatment plant like injections followed by medication . Since he's never been in pain management before ! Ummmm ok , you can't still see him and refer him out to get the injections that ny husband do desperately needs. Her answer was NO. Mind you this was THE DAY OF HIS APPOINTMENT! The reason why I ran from this place was because of Deb. Every time I would call in , the phone girl would always put me on hold and she would get on the line and do be honest i felt like I was in front of the judge ! It was gut wrenching every single phone call. But what they pulled on my husband was just absolutely disgusting ! And I had already discharged myself prior to my whole husband fiasco! I have been going here over a year now. Due to spinal vertebrae breaks and surgery, in addition to worn-out knees, I have found an educated and trustworthy doctor and staff that helps me live almost every day with minimal (or no) pain. They are cautious in oral medicine they prescribe, cortisone injections given, and always go over alternative options as well as possible side effects of all options. I've been a chronic pain patient with a very complicated medical history for over 7 years now. I've had more than my share of bad experiences with pain docs. Yesterday was my first appointment here with Dr Mastrin and let me just say I am so thankful to God to have found her! She has a very nice, pleasant way about her. Listens very well and shows professionmal compassion. She's thorough in her exam but doesn't push. She's smart and not one to be manipulated. But if you're legit and bring your proof (records etc)she is very aggressive with pain medication management in a safe way. And she doesn't push a ton of interventional treatments like injections if you've done it all before with little relief. She doesn't take insurance but will provide you the papers to get reimbursed. And she is very well worth it! The office is calm and not over crowded. Patients are treated with respect and compassion. Dr. Mastrin is awesome. She is a no bulls*** lady. If you have all your ducks in a row she's there to help. I have read reviews on other sites about her and I was so scared. Just going to a pain center is scary. Her staff made me feel so welcome. She took the time to explain to me what my other doctors didn't about my condition with degenerative disc disease and herniated discs and why I have my pain. She has me on the right track to getting better. All the haters that posted bad reviews were people expecting drugs when they couldn't prove their pain. This clinic really goes above and beyond for their patients. Not only is Denise (Front Office) really pleasant to work with, but also the Nursing Staff is top notch. I would recommend this office to anyone who has legitimate pain, and would like great care. However, they do require evidence of your pain, if you do not have this, please seek care elsewhere, since they are not easily fooled by claims that are unfounded. Often its hard to find a reliable doctor for chronic pain management, especially when your new to the area. I was fortunate enough to Find Dr. Mastrin. The DEA is very tough on pain doctors so they have to make sure their patients have all the requirements and follow the rules. She has outstanding experience and generally cares about her patients. I have been going here for over 3 years now. First off the pain medicine part they have dialed to a "T". So your all set there. I recently witnessed something very traumatic and couldn't think of who else to talk with except Kathy the office manager at azpainmed. I mean what other pain management clinic makes you feel like they really care not just about your pain but your mental well being as well?!. The same can be said with Dr. Mastrin. I trust her more than my primary when it comes to talking about not just my physical health but my mental health as well. I can't tell you all the advice I have received from the staff at AzPainMed. They are not a pill pushing medicine clinic, but an ethical and caring medical care center. In some cases serving more needs than what you would expect from a "Pain Management" clinic. Wish they could also be my primary, as any primary I have ever had does not have an original intellectual thought. But they are still just mainly a pain management clinic. I've been going to AZ Pain Medicine Clinic for two years now. I usually see the Nurse Practitioner, Allie. Both she and the doctor are so nice once they get to know you and know you truly suffer. They are not pushovers. Any bad reviews, in my opinion, are from people who are not truly suffering and are drug seeking. You take them all your proof, i.e., x-rays, CT scans, and MRI's. Other pain management doctors would not give me enough pain medicine and I was bedbound and crying from my pain for months and months. I had no life. I planned to take my life because I couldn't bare the pain any longer. But I did one last on-line search and found AZ Pain Medicine Clinic. I read up on them and then called them. I had hope for the first time in a long time. They have given me my life back. I'm sick with several illnesses plus chronic acute pain throughout my entire body. I mean from my neck down to my toes. Seriously. Much of my pain is bone pain. I cannot even walk without pain relief. Thanks to their help, I can get out of the house when my other health issues allow me a good day. The good days are more frequent now because I now can sleep well, without excruciating pain. They have given me my life back! You must remain compliant, not run out of your pills early, etc. They fight for those of us who truly suffer, so if you over take them, run out early, you will be fired as their patient sooner rather than later.
