The doctors at Atlas Pain Specialists are excellent, which is why I've continued coming here. They are knowledgeable, attentive, and take the time to listen and tailor treatment to my specific needs. I've received multiple injections from them, and they've been extremely effective in managing my pain. You can tell they genuinely care about their patients and want to help improve quality of life, which I really appreciate. When you go into the office, the staff is friendly. One area that could really be improved is the coordination around prescription medications. My prescription is an injection that must be administered by a provider, and I've been trying to get this sorted out since January (it's now April). I've had to follow up multiple times and haven't received much communication in return. My pharmacy eventually closed out the prescription because they were unable to reach the office to coordinate shipping. I had also informed the office several times that I was due for my injection on the 26th (I receive it every three months), and I'm now several days overdue, with the prescription still not shipped from the specialty pharmacy. Improving communication and coordination with the pharmacy would make a big difference in the overall patient experience and help ensure treatments stay on schedule. I chose this office because of the quality of the doctors and the convenience of the location, and I truly hope this is an area that can be addressed. The care from the providers is outstanding, and with a more streamlined process on the administrative side, this would be an exceptional experience all around. read more

Been a good experience so far. Been getting epidurals and knee injections. Problem I am getting is through health insurance. Recent changes in all health insurances is making it harder and more expensive for care. I've also received allergy injections, which is interesting. A shot every week as dosage is raised for 6 months. Helped quite a bit, just a pain to have to get them weekly. Been here for 3 plus years. read more

When I started with this office, I was told that my insurance was accepted. After three appointments I realized that was not the case. I continued treatment for 5 more appointments on a cash pay basis and paid the quoted price at each appointment. Atlas Pain was also billing my insurance for each of these 5 appointments. Now they expect me to pay the much higher prices that they billed my insurance company. I've tried contacting the office several times. Of course, they never return calls and billing doesn't have a direct phone number. My advice...GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! PS... Not sure why my location shows as San Francisco. I'm in Phoenix. read more

Atlas insures that you will remain in pain so that they can continuously charge you and your insurance company for treatments that give no pain relief whatever!! Idiot doctor asked me the same questions upon every visit while he held his tablet right in front of him with the very answers from the previous visits. He would ask me what I thought we should try next!!! You are the doctor aren't you? Apparently not. My pain has gotten so much worse since visiting this place 7 or 8 times I am seriously contemplating suicide. Also considering a million dollar malpractice lawsuit. read more

I made an appointment a week ago and told them the type of insurance I had then I come to the appointment only for them to tell me they are not contracted with them. I drove basically 40 mins all the way to the appointment only for them to tell me they can't see me due to my insurance. They should really educate their staff more regarding the insurance plans contracts just not to waste patients time and gas. read more

The office manager said she would refund me for taking down my yelp review that is 100% factual of my experience and seeing as that has to be against some kind of ethical standards. I stand by my first review. So I am out of the money and now have missed another week of work laying here in more pain and was threatened by the office manager that lawyers will get involved because they provided me with absolutely zero care , handed me a paper with my old pain management number on it and walked out of the room for $350 while I was in tears . I was never allowed to speak to the Dr. / owner . Just a PA who had no idea why I was even there. It was so short I didn't even fill out the first two lines of intake paperwork before she just told me go somewhere else. read more

Five stars for Dr. Ormond and one star for the front office. I was given two cortisone shots in both elbows during my first visit and had positive results. I called to schedule another appointment several months later for the same procedure and was told that my insurance requires a consult visit before the procedure (a 2nd visit). I travel extensively for work and did not have the time for two visits so I called another office and was told it could be done in one visit. I proceeded with the visit/injection with the other office and everything was approved by my insurance. Unfortunately, I didn't get the same results I had with Dr. Ormond. I called Dr Ormond's office again several weeks after my visit with the other office and they told me once again that I had to have two appointments. I explained to them that my insurance approved my first visit with Dr. Ormond and my most recent visit with another office. They said they would look into it and call me back to reschedule. I never received a call back. It was also extremely difficult to pay my bill with Dr. Ormond's office. The phones go unanswered and when they do answer, they don't have your information. It took far too long and too many phone calls just to pay a simple bill. It's extremely unfortunate because Dr. Ormond is really good. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was a patient for about a year and never had an issues. Atlas pain was a trusted pain management clinic. Dr. Ormond is a very unique and incredible pain management doctor who I truly looked up to and admired. He was the BEST pain management doctor. However, recently a nurse practitioner was hired named Allie (DO NOT SEE). Last month 2/10 she told me to start "fishing"around for other places. When Allie made the comment I was at a complete loss and did fully grasp what she was talking about. After the inappropriate comment was made I felt it was necessary to address this with Dr. Ormond, during my next appointment. I called on 3/7 to ensure I was seeing Dr. Ormond. I was told I was seeing him which was a relief. When i arrived at my appointment on 3/10 and was called back I was told Allie was seeing me. I was disappointed but did it expect her to do what she did. Allie discharged me from the practice on good terms for no reason. I was told to basically find a new pain clinic. I am beyond disappointed and blindsided I was not allowed to talk to Dr. Ormond to address my concerns. I have a complex case which makes it a big deal to find a good pain management clinic. I am, disappointed, and upset about the way this situation was handled. Again do not go here! read more

I drove 1-1/2 hours one way to be early for my appointment. It was 111 degrees outside. Atlas Pain Specialists would not allow my wife and our two leashed puppies to sit in their waiting area. It was great getting in so fast but when the doctor gave me only one rx for 5 days that was upsetting. Then I found out the game! He requires an office visit for all prescription refills. Even non schedule 1 drugs! Well some of us work and some of us don't like to pay extra! His office is always hours behind schedule and now I can see why. Most of his patients are older. Atlas Pain was "fired" by me as a care provider in as short of time as my second appointment. The staff at Atlas Pain, especially Dr. Ormond, have the most awful patient care. I have a couple instances to illustrate this point. They do not return phone calls- I was calling to see why I only received 5 days of medication, but was told that I should follow up in two weeks. It turned out to be a standard protocol and the remaining were sent to my pharmacy, but the only reason I know this is because after running out of medication, I physically went to the office, told the receptionist what I needed, and said I could wait for who to talk with since no one could call me back in 6 business days. I have been sick since last May, and am experiencing constant moderate to severe pain since June. Horrible , all consuming, sharp, stabbing pain that keeps me up most nights. Pain that's sent me to the hospital twice, and caused me to call the MA at Atlas Spine to inquire about other options for pain relief, expressing that my growing level of pain is intolerable more and more often. The MA let me know that all medication changes must be done via appointment with the doctor (again, after going inside the office after no returned call). Obviously that makes sense, and I scheduled an appointment with the doctor. When I arrive for said appointment, the PA came in to see me, I restated my request, and she told me that only the doctor can make medication changes. I responded by pointing out that is who I made my appointment with, and I would wait to see him. Two staff members told me the doctor was entirely unwilling to see me because of how backed up he is (how is that my fault??), after the second staff member said that he would not see me, I conceded and left, expressing my dissatisfaction with their patient care on the way out. This type of patient care is awful and is also very damaging to the patient. I am simply looking for a healthcare provider to care and have compassion. Unfortunately those qualities are not well assumed assets to Atlas Pain. Go somewhere else. read more

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Ormond for a while now. I cannot begin to explain how wonderful he is! So many doctors are so difficult to understand, not at all taking into account that most patients have not gone to medical school, but Dr. Ormond explains things in such a way that you can understand him and not feel like he is talking down to you. I feel so fortunate that we found him and his practice. Everyone is so nice and professional. I had a spine stimulator trial done by a different pain clinic. After the excruciating pain I went through with the trial I wanted a second opinion. Dr Ormond prescribed me a steroid to get rid of the pain. It totally worked. I had him do the permanent implant. I feel no pain in my lower back and no more nerve pain.
