I am sure I would have been pleased with any of the three of them, but I am really glad I went with Johnson Roofing. My experience with them started with Miguel Cepeda. His presentation was clear and detailed. He explained all aspects of the project and how they would get the job done. He recommended a few things that we're different than the competition. I was especially impressed with his explanation about venting and the specific vents he was recommending to replace my current vents. Most importantly, Johnson Roofing what's the only company that offered an easy to apply for payment plan through a bank that offered 12 months interest-free financing. We don't really see what any of these roofing companies are doing in detail while the project is being completed. So we normally have to go on faith that they did everything important and with the highest quality. At the end of the project, Miguel reviewed all the work with me via photos that were taken during the project. I could see in detail that a lot of plywood was replaced. Some companies might not have been as thorough or willing to do some of the things that Johnson did on its own. The review with Miguel gave me total comfort that's the job was done properly. The cleanup was excellent and so was the crew.

One of the service guys said they were having trouble with this brand of shingles and the manufacturer might pay under their warrantee. I never heard back from them and the repair cost me $750. Now it's happened again and they can't send a service guy out for 3 weeks and I will likely be charged for the repairs. Unaceptable.

I check obviously for plenty of good reviews. I'm looking for professionalism, timeliness, pride in workmanship, and just overall customer satisfaction. L and R past the the reviews. Plenty of people seem satisfied. The next thing is, I check their website if they have one. Most businesses do now have some kind of online presence. Theirs was very smooth and easy to navigate. I requested a quote online, and in about 24 hours got a response. The owner, Luis, came out, climbed the roof, gave me a rundown of what to expect, should I use their services, and told me they would not contact me again or try to pressure me. They certainly followed through on that. They did send a quote. Their website makes it very easy to accept the quote and has finance options. Their contract is laid out very straightforward, full disclosure. Nothing hidden. In this online business world, where people expect more online transactional capability, you just expect businesses to offer that. But many don't, particularly in the contracting world. So, anyone who is attentive to making it easy to transact online is very focused on their business, in my experience. It's just another sign of professionalism and tells me that probably they will also be attentive during the actual construction process. That's just my general experience. It does not always hold true. But in this case, it did. After the HOA approval, I decided to use them for the roof replacement. Costs were in line with about what everyone else is charging. I paid the 50% down, and got a call from Victor the foreman to schedule replacement. They were very accommodating and got busy. There was a minor hiccup, but not their fault. The supplier delivered the wrong tiles. I'm sure that caused a bit of stress for Victor, because they have plenty of jobs scheduled. Anyway, the day after the day they were supposed to do the work, the new tiles were delivered. And then the following Monday, the tiles were loaded onto the roof. The next day they were laid and completed at the same day. I'm no roofing expert, but have some common sense. I climbed the roof before they laid the tiles just to check out their work. All the flashings were very nicely placed. Everything seemed to be high-quality. The underlayment was very nicely laid. And, each day they cleaned up pretty well. When the work was completed, they cleaned up better than I had the yard cleaned up. Victor very professional. If I need any maintenance on the roof, I definitely would consider L & R again. However, I suspect the roof will out last me and my wife.

Since they were doing the whole roof, we asked them to install two solar tubes. Our house is not as dark now! The care with which they worked on the solar tubes was excellent. They explained how they go about that, since it involves cutting holes in both the roof and the ceiling inside. I was able to watch their work and see how careful they were inside the house. They cleaned everything inside and out very carefully. No fragments of old roofing were left behind. We are very pleased with their work. The office and scheduling were ok, but the actual roofers were very good: polite and efficient.

So this is going to be a rather long review. There were a couple of hiccups along the way to…read moregetting my roof replaced, but in the end, Payne/Integrity Roofing did a great job on my roof. I can't overstate how the two installers went above and beyond. They not only did a stellar job of the install, they kept the site clean, and offered extra help as well. But... there is a saga here. My insurance company, who will NOT be getting a nice review, demanded that I replace my entire roof. After having a number of different companies over to see the job, I got estimates which ranged from around 5,000 to over 10,000. This is a 709 square foot house, just a simple roof. The house was built in 1963, so I expected there would need to be some lumber replaced. Payne Roofing was not the cheapest, they were right in the middle, but because of the way they answered questions, and their knowledge, they were the company I decided to go with. Now for the first hiccup: The finance company they use is called ProFund. Steer clear! They offered me "financing" with a 10% charge added to the job, and then 10% annually (I was planning to refinance this along with a few other projects). What they didn't tell me is HOW they were getting the funds. They required my checking account information. Next thing I know, they went in and EMPTIED MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. So they could lend MY OWN money back to me with interest! After a few phone calls, I got my money back, and Payne, who had received the down payment from ProFund actually hand delivered the refund check to me the next day. Do not use Profund. Do. not. A few months later, I got the financing to do the roof, and called them up. The job price was the same, minus the 10% additional charge. The two installers were professional, polite, outstanding, they helped me move some stuff, and for an additional fee, the company allowed me to get rid of some construction stuff in their dumpster. When they saw me moving it, they insisted on helping me. They were awesome. Now to the second hiccup. I drove in and saw that they were installing the wrong colored shingles. I called up the company, no drama, no problem, they admitted it was a mistake on their end, and with just a day of delay, the right shingles were on the house. They installed a vent at the peak of the roof, and did a great job with the flashing and edging, it all looks really nice. There were additional charges for the lumber that had to be replaced, but none of it was unnecessary, and the cost was reasonable. They sent me photos of the roof and the job they had done, and now we get to the third and last hiccup: Me. I looked at the pictures of the shingles, and on many of them a black line at the top of the shingles was visible. I had just enough knowledge to be dangerous in this situation. I thought that if you install shingles, and a black line is visible, you have done the job wrong. I also thought the way the roof penetrations were done was wrong. I was very rude and upset when I called. OK. I admit it... I may have... well I did. I Karened. In my defense, however, I have gotten ripped off quite a few times, and I was in a panic because of the Insurance Company That Shall Not Be Named. They were threatening to not renew my homeowner's insurance if the roof wasn't completed. The deadline was within 2 weeks, and here I had convinced myself that the roof was not done correctly, and not only was I going to have the house damaged the next time it rained, there would be no insurance to cover anything. I have a friend who is in the construction business looked at the photos, and explained to me that yes, just as Mr. Payne had told me, (and I had doubted him), that's what they are SUPPOSED to look like. He also mentioned that Payne has been around for years, and among other professionals, they have a good reputation. He also looked at the pictures of the treatments of the penetrations on the roof, and said they were fine. I called up Payne Roofing and apologized. So, I would recommend this company in the strongest terms. They went above and beyond, their prices were fair and reasonable, the workmanship was good, and when there were bumps in the road, they handled them. They were responsive and polite even when, I have to admit it, I wasn't. You can trust these guys.

They scheduled a repair we did not authorize and we had to call to cancel, they said it was due to some error on their part. They charged $150 for an inspection which is not standard practice, especially when the roof is under warranty. We are hoping to resolve this issue but I do not recommend this business due to their poor communication.
