I would not place my trust in AZ West Painting under any circumstances. The painting for my project was scheduled to commence first thing next week, but Chris decided to cancel our verbal agreement at the last moment, all due to a misunderstanding with the contractor, who has also been quite troublesome. After a phone call with the contractor, Chris voiced his concern regarding my payment(s) to the contractor for a city requirement before he could initiate the painting, essentially accusing me of failing to pay the contractor for the project. To begin with, you do not have the authority to dictate when I should pay for a service that you are not delivering. Furthermore, he was unaware that I had already completed two of the four payments for the project, and instead, he immediately took the contractor's side. Chris accused me without taking the time to verify the facts or engage in a mature dialogue about the situation, and instead insisted that I resolve this issue with the contractor. I tried to clarify that I had already made the necessary payments to the contractor and expressed my confusion at being accused of this, offering to provide proof of payments, to which Chris replied, "Okay, I'm out. Good luck." I find this behavior to be exceedingly rude and unprofessional. How ironic that they advertise Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed on their website. Business 101: Customer service should be provided before, during, and after the purchase of a service. I will certainly not be reaching out to AZ West Painting for any future projects. read more

On 05/17/2023, I reached out to this company via Yelp for a project I was contemplating. Cris, the owner responded and we set up a date with Cris giving me a 60 minute window. The window had just closed and I was preparing to leave when Cris rolled up. After walking around the exterior, Cris asked if he could come inside to give me a quote. We hadn't discussed the interior at all, so I was a little surprised, but it was very hot outside. Cris used his advantage to suggest that my cabinets would look good with an upgrade and I began to wonder if that was his ploy all along. After showing me some pictures of possible colors from previous projects, Cris gave me a hard quote. I asked for references so that I could check his exterior work (although I had received a recommendation from a friend on his interior work) and he said that he would email them to me later on along with a proposed invoice. What I liked about his quote was that it was final...just like that...no frills or 'a la carte' that other firms suggest; however, it was on the high end. While I didn't use this business for my project, and after looking at their work on the web, I would consider them for cabinet resurfacing and, or interior projects in the future. read more

I highly recommend AZ West Painting for both interior and exterior jobs. We had our prior home's exterior painted a few years ago by Cris Arevalo and crew, and they did an excellent job. Recently, we needed a full interior paint job on our current home, so we contacted Cris again. I have completed many house projects on my own (as a result of many failed attempts w contractors) and it was time to finish up w a fresh coat of paint on all the moldings that were recently finished. I had a few painters come out for quotes, the first gave a price double the first car I ever purchased, the second took a few minutes to look around seeming uninterested, and the third was Cris from AZWest Painting. Cris came the day after I called for a quote and showed up on time. He also brought some samples of different paint finishes that he thought might work best for the job. He was very helpful in describing the pros and cons to the different options. Needless to say, after all of my hard work in completing the moldings, I was very critical about the details to really make them look clean and professionally done (even though I'm not). Cris offered a very reasonable quote that I thought was fair and let me know that they would be able to work my job into the schedule without issue. Cris and his crew were very clean and trustworthy to leave in my home when I was at work (which is always a thought in the back of your mind when working w someone for the first time). They worked daily from 8-4 and left the kitchen in functioning order so that I could prepare meals in the evening. When the crew was finishing up, Cris walked the job w me to ensure that any and all details were addressed and I was completely happy. He even used his tall ladder to reach and adjust a light that had been bugging me since it was off center. We sent an interior paint project request out on yelp and received numerous responses. We selected AZ West Painting based on reputation and the prompt in person quote provided. They weren't the cheapest quote, but we shop for quality to reduce headaches in the end. Bonus to the quote, was ability to start a couple days later. This meant we get to move into the home that much faster. Chris, his son Ryan and the team were meticulous covering and protecting non painted areas, such as our brand new floor, lighting, and shower. This continued through paint finish, cleanup and personalized walk through to ensure we inspected every detail. We have used other painters in the past, with mixed results. This by far was the best experience. We plan to have our exterior painted soon and won't be looking elsewhere. Cris and his crew have now painted both the inside (2016) and outside of my house (2018). He fixed some drywall for us, too. He is honest, generous and fair. If you want someone who will do the job right, to the highest of standards, this is your guy. He starts with an inspection, noting any needed structural repairs, his crew paints, and he does a final walkthrough to ensure satisfaction. He genuinely wants you to be happy with the job. Cris gives several price options for different tiers of paint quality. Its worth it to go top tier if you'll be staying in your home. If you want someone who will do it for cheap, AZ West isn't for you... but you'll probably be paying more to do it again when the sun destroys the paint after only a couple years (as I've seen my neighbors do). You can't really have cheap and high quality together under the AZ sun. AZ West has reasonable prices and exceptional, professional results. A worthy investment. read more

Do NOT due your due diligence and then Cris will provide you a quote. Questions I asked came from a Consumer Report: "How to hire a painter"; however, Cris stated that I asked too many questions. According to Cris, his customers don't ask questions. Although I see a few reviews dating back to 2016 and only 3 reviews in 2018, it's suspect. When asked if he could provide me with references...pretty much he told me to read yelp. He mumbled something that gathering references wasn't going to be easy for him. Also, I asked him if he had a painter's liability and workers' compensation insurance certificates he said he did along with his licenses but none of this info would be provided to me unless I accepted his bid. I find his response very interestingly unprofessional. Glad he didn't provide me with a quote; however, I am sure it would have been very entertaining since it seems like he charges a la carte for many things. Cris did mention several times..."everything costs money" Note: A consumer understands the concept of paying for goods rendered but when it's not clear what they're paying for, a consumer should have the right to understand exactly what s/he should expect. read more

We would highly recommend AZWest Painting. It was a great experience from start to finish. I called Cris and asked if he could give us an estimate on painting the wood trim. He said he could be there within 30 mins and was!! He then gave us a written proposal, we had to wait for approval from HOA. After we rec'd that I gave Cris a call and they came over two days later to start the job. The first day they did the power wash and filled the wood. The second day they painted. Both Cris and his son were very understanding of our concerns. We replaced all our windows and were fearful of overspray so they covered every window with plastic.
