The owner is awesome and enjoyed a quiet 2 days at the park. Would recommend to all of you who may be traveling through this area.

I honestly wouldn't…read morewaste your money here because there are 3 other parks at the same exit that look much much nicer. To start with, RPI (Resort Parks International) listed their check in hours from 9am-6pm Sun-Saturday. We arrived at 11am on Sunday to check in after 2 long days of travel and there was a sign on the door that said check in was not until 1:30pm. It also said go to spot A4 to visit Jerry if you have issues. So we attempted that and no one was there either. So we finally get checked in. The clubhouse/check In was really old and rundown. There was a pool up front but it was out of season but also looked run down. We finally get back to our spot and it was a tight one. There was space for the 44 foot 5th wheel and the truck parked sideways and the car had to be on the road and on top of the truck. We get parked and take a walk around and the park was extremely run down. There were tons of really really old campers with torn up awnings and junk and trash all around the campers. There were old campers parked in the grass near a shed with some more junk and a huge pile of garbage bags full of leaves or pine needles. There aws a super strange spot in the back near E9 where someone had used plastic bottles and all kind of other junk to make their super weird walking path through the woods. Very very old and trashy. People were speeding through the park super fast back by our spots which was super frustrating and annoying having dogs and kids. I think a lot of the people here live here full time. Also their Propane was $7 per gallon!!!!! Which is absolutely insane! - I recommend driving 15 minutes down the road for closer to $3 per gallon propane at Bloosman Propane Gas and Appliance (Robertsdale, AL) I was super annoyed at the owner/management - he came by in his car to tell us that we needed to move our car out of the empty spot and that we were not supposed to have a dog fence and it needs moved. That was not disclosed to us upon arrival and check in and honestly I think its ridiculous that I am not allowed to have a dog fence out but the amount of trash and junk laying around the park is ok. I gave it a 3 for value but ONLY because we are RPI members and only paid $10 per night. I would not pay more than that to stay here. We camped at Wilderness RV Park in a Fifth Whee

The location is between major cities so it's relatively quiet yet not too far from cities or beaches. It rained quite a bit but didn't puddle up due to good drainage. The trash is only allowed near the front entry which is difficult if you have limited mobility. The roads are packed gravel and old blacktop. It's sufficient as long as you drive slowly. We were able to enter safely in the dark and traverse the whole park despite many large trees.

The bathhouse, laundry room, activity room, gym, and pool were all well maintained. They have trash pick up at your site at 10:00. They clean restrooms at 11:30. It's all laid out so you can plan your day. A lot of loungers and chairs at the pool. They put us on the outside line for campers and we were grateful to not be in the middle backed up to another camper. Staff were all very friendly. We will for sure return to this campground.

I provided ample notice and understand that unforeseen circumstances happen. We also had to cancel several other resorts at even longer stays and those resorts were very understanding and offered full refunds or minimal fees for cancellations ($25-$50). Unfortunately, Sugar Sands refused to issue any refund at all, keeping our payment despite the significant lead time. It was disappointing to see such a lack of flexibility. It appears they are likely to re-rent the site to another guest, effectively making double the profit, which adds to the frustration. Overall, this experience was disappointing and should serve as a warning to others considering a stay. Just don't go here because there are way more realistic, accommodating resorts!
