Basically, a battle of the local rock and roll bands - a variety of different members from different bands come together on two teams for one day with a purpose to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Tickets are only $5, bring a foldup chair, 10x10 tent, a cooler and it's a great time watching all of our friends compete with one another on the field. Torcaso Cove Park is a great place to hold this event. There is a spacious field with plenty of space on the sidelines for fans. There are several parking areas available making parking easy for large events. There was plenty of space for a half-time show with live music right by the field. There were also a BBQ vendor and several other vendors on site selling food, jewelry, and other items. The park has a public restroom, a playground, splash park, sand pits, plenty of paved walking areas, a picnic area with tables, large pavilion, a beautiful bridge that crosses the heart shaped cove, the park has a bunch of Muscovy ducks waddling around and is dog friendly, what else can you ask for. Nancy and I really enjoyed our time at the park, we will definitely be back to bring our dog and take a nice walk. I just have to mention that it was a bit muddy on the field, even on a hot sunny day. So be sure to wear something you don't care about getting dirty.

Full of ducks and turtles, and I always make sure to bring oatmeal and frozen peas so I can spend a little time with them. You can feed them from the bridge, or the beach. They will surround you LOL. There are 3 play areas: 2 for the big kids, and a pirate themed area for the little kids. There is also a splash pad, and I will openly admit to running through recently, as I chose to go on my run when it was over 95 degrees. The park is very clean, and well cared for, and it's right next to the Winter Springs Police Department, and on this day they had an event bringing awareness to autism; I was offered a popsicle and gladly grabbed it. I sat on a bench to watch a soccer match, while I finished my cold treat, stretched a bit, put on my weighted vest, waved to the ducks, and took off. Perfect park on a perfect day :)

This park is located at the Colonialtown Neighborhood Center, and has been my frequent stroller route for the last year. Just a couple laps around the center, community garden, and park and I've worked up a pretty good sweat in this heat. My son is just getting old enough to start enjoying the swings and playground area. To be honest, this park could use a bit of a refresh and a little TLC. I do wish there was a bit more shade, especially over the baby swings. Those black swings get so hot in the blazing sun, you can't even use them some days. Same goes for the slides. They do have some triangle canopies over the picnic area, but they don't do much to actually provide shade. I also always pack baby wipes to wipe down the swings & equipment before we use them. I appreciate that this park is just a short walk from home and I look forward to watching my son grown and & play here.

He enjoyed everything this park has to offer- watching the big kids play on the big kid playground, playing on the "little tikes" playground, pushing his wagon around the walking loop, watching some guys play basketball on the courts, and best of all, running around on the splash pad! There is seating area located thru out the park and restrooms, they also have grills in case you want go grill out or have a birthday party here. This is a very nice playground/ skate park for the kids to come out and use some energy, I like how there is so much space with even a small track area for kids to ride around. Shady Park is located in the historic Hannibal Square in Winter Park. Hannibal Square was founded…read morein 1881 as the African-American part of Winter Park. The residents provided the labor that built the town of Winter Park and they worked as domestic servants for wealthy families. The railroad tracks provided the dividing line in the town with whites living on the east side of the tracks and blacks on the west side. You can learn more about the history of this area at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center located across the street from the park. Shady Park is located next to a community center. There is a paved walkway, benches, and a gazebo. There is also a splash pad for kids to have wet fun. My favorite part of the park is Molecular dog. The sculpture was created by Miami artist Robert Chambers. Molecular dog is a five foot tall, eight foot long bronze sculpture of a dog. At first glance it looks like a blow up balloon sculpture but on closer examination it is the three molecule structure for propane. Chambers created the art work to highlight the qualities of propane that make it more environmentally friendly than gasoline. Liquefied petroleum gas is cleaner and cheaper than gasoline. It is also colorless and odorless. I really enjoyed learning about the history of this place and seeing the art sculpture. Although not as well known or trafficked as Central Park, Winter Park's larger and more well known park, this small park has it's charm.

There are some great parks in the Orlando area and honestly this park gets overlooked and overshadowed (a bit of pun intended there) by those significantly larger parks. I would recommend that if you are in the area that this place wouldn't be the worst place to check out. I will say that our lord your Parks have more to offer and if you're looking for a destination type park, you would probably be better suited looking for one of them.

It underwent a major renovation in 2021 where they added lots of amenities and made everything brand new. Even now, 5 years later, everything has been so well maintained and still feels like new. They have a free miniature golf putting course, an awesome splash pad, shaded playgrounds, basketball courts, and a nice nature walking path. You'll also find shaded picnic pavilions and a community garden. My son absolutely loves coming here. The parking lot can be a little tricky to find because my GPS using Google Maps never takes me to the right place. Don't let the location detour you from visiting. It's such a nice park and feels very safe.

The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.

She also mentioned they put up a little fence recently but I am perplexed they didn't fence in the whole park?? What's the point? There's a huge ditch next to it so just be sure to keep a careful eye on your children. The best part is that it is shaded! yay! The pool has a zero drop entry with some splash features for kids. The other end of the pool is for lap swimming. There are some tables and chairs with umbrellas but they fill up fast. There are life guards that help keep everyone safe and following the rules. There is a cost to enter the pool but it is very reasonably priced. They even have seasonal and annual passes and they take credit cards. We will be back to enjoy these amenities again!
