My visit here was for a private memorial event for a former employee of mine. I was impressed with the function space, bar service, and Aztec brews. Finding this location was somewhat difficult, but that won't deter me from returning for another visit under happier circumstances. read more

This is such an awesome place. They have regular music events going on from open mic to bands. They even do jam sessions here. They will also have a food truck out back for the customers. This small brewery is tucked away in the cul de sac of an industrial park in Vista. Look closely to find their tiny sign as you enter the driveway. They don't serve food, but they do have food trucks. On the night I was there, it was a taco truck with fantastic food. I was actually there to see a concert, so I didn't drink any beer. I tried the cucumber, basil seltzer, which was excellent. The music was great with nice sound quality in the room. Great little brewery! read more

Ginally visited Aztec Brewery after our friend invited us to see him play. It is hidden in an industrial area but following Google maps let us to the right place! We brought food from Albertacos since they don't serve food there. However we did find that you can have Leucadia Pizzeria delivered here which is nice. I decided to get a flight of tasters to try out multiple beer selections, this being my first time and all. I will say that the Mexican lager was my favorite. One tip would be to please serve colder beers. I dont know if this was just this instance but I feel like they weren't very cold and I felt rushed to drink them since I hate drinking warm beer. All in all, good place to catch some live music. read more

We went to see the Band Hangman play over the weekend and wasn't sure what to expect but what a great venue and really good beer. They have a great variety of beers. I am not a big IPA fan but our friends really liked their IPAs and thought they were some of the best they've had so far. My favorite was the Coffee Blonde, with a hint of coffee and not heavy it was very tasty. I also tried the Macaroon which is nut brown ale with coconut and vanilla. I usually go for the darker beers and I love coconut so this was a match made in heaven for me. They have a nice sized stage and the sound is amazing. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Lovely little brewery offering a very cozy atmosphere a nice stage and great live music (especially on Thursday's open mic evenings). That brewery looks more like a concert venue than a bar! They offer a rather small selection of excellent locally crafted beers. Prices are reasonable, the staff is very friendly and very welcoming. It looks like there is always a food truck in the back of the venue. Despite the location is a bit odd (in the end of a business park), I recommend this small brewery for few cold ones or for a concert with friends. A plus for the Hibiscus Wheat beer. read more

Went in thinking they would be open normal hours, since we looked them up on Yelp before going in. Yelp said it was open from 5-10, with closing days being Tuesday and Wednesday. We arrived around 5:45 and ordered our drinks, when we were taking "our time" they came up to us letting us know they were not open and had to leave because they weren't necessarily open. If that was the case, they should of told us that from the beginning instead of taking our drink order and our money. They were rude when we asked them about their hours and why they even took our order if they weren't open, the response was "we didn't think you would take a long time". We were there for an hour! Never coming back! I had to leave a star rating, if I could leave a review with no star, I would of done so. read more

Oh, Aztec Brewery...definitely a poor (no pun intend) start to the best week of 2016. After my partner in crime arrived into town, I knew it had been a long day for him. My first instinct was to take him to a brewery he had never tried. Aztec Brewery was on the agenda. Well, I thought Aztec Brewery was a brewery, not a small theater with the sound system of Madison Square Garden. I really don't remember much after that (not from drinking, but simply based on the fact that my brain was on fire from the over-amplified noise)...except how loud it was, how I can't believe two people sat right infront of the blaring speakers for an insane amount of time, how the beertenders survived all that noise, and how my partner in crime and I sat two feet from each other at the other end of the theater and still couldn't hear each other. Moto Deli was here...but it's just impossible to stay, eat, and enjoy a few brews. Did I mention the loud sound system? If not, the music was super loud. Wait...beer. Right. Aztec Brewery is responsible for two things- 1. I'll definitely need a hearing aid simply from my short visit to this brewery thanks to the sound system 2. Making a really solid Macaroon Nut Brown. It's delicious. I know I had other beer in my flight but who cared. The Macaroon Nut Brown stole the show. Ask me if I'll be back. What? I can't hear you. read more

They often have live shows and strongly support local musicians. It is hard not to become regulars at this brewery as they have events throughout the year that draw you in. WEE HA ! yet another brewery pops up in our backyard ! Not only is this in our backyard but right smack dab in the middle of Mother Earth and Iron Fist Brewery, literally. This is a Nano-Brewery with a small system , so the batches should be really good, limited quantity, but good. They will be brewing on a 3.5 Barrel system. They will be opening the Tasting room on Saturday August 27th from noon till 6PM. They will be serving their own brews as well as several guest beers. The Owner Rob Esposito is really cool and laid back, he is going to be trying a lot of different varieties and here are a few... The Beer that caught my eye is the Chipotle India Pale Ale. I had the pleasure of tasting this and I was very Impressed. Not too hot and surprisingly smooth. The Agave Wheat was light and smooth, it was from an older batch and they expect the new batch ready in a few weeks. I also got to try the "guest/sister" beer the 7 nations pale ale it was good one. When that line launches that will will be in a different review : ) .The Aztec Red was a solid red ale was good but still in the testing stage it is in the final stages and should be excellent when finished. WOW the Aztec Eclipse is really really good ! its a chocolate Stout full of flavor and made with cocoa nibs. I think that is my favorite and hope the keep that one on tap. Aztec Amber a little dark for an Amber but none the less a solid Amber Ale this is one not to be missed. El Dorado ohh yes a Blonde. A very fine Blonde this is a perfectly brewed Blond nice and light and just right for when you want something subtle. They are serving a real smokey Steelhead scotch porter this is an excellent guest beer to serve .They will be rotating the other guest beers, Avery IPA, O'Haras Irish Red and Oskar Blues Old Chub is what they will be opening with. At a $1.50 per sample this is a no brainer to come and taste something new. Come on down tomorrow Saturday August 27th from noon til 6PM and give this Nano-Brewery a try. read more

Went to Aztec for a music meetup. The owners were kind, offering me a free beverage, since I don't drink and drive. (I'm a bad enough SOBER driver!) I got lost trying to take La Mirada off Las Flores, as the map and my GPS suggested. There was a barricaded road closure, and cell/satellite service was down in that area. By the time I arrived, I was mad enough for a bottle of 151 rum! I opted for water instead, and enjoyed the music and atmosphere with friends. The only reason I held back a star is the limited signage. It took me FOREVER to finally find Aztec without the use of my phone & GPS. Melrose & Sycamore! How easy is that? Right by my new dentist! This has become my regular Thursday night spot and it is the best neighborhood bar vibe going! Thursday night is open mic night, there are always a few fantastically talented musicians in the line up, I love the beer here, their IPAs are well balanced, not overpowering My current fave is the Simrillo IPA, and the Hibiscus Wheat is nice for a session beer or to give your taste buds a break. Bad news about the food though. What used to be a smokin hot deal is no more. La Casa de Los Alambres food truck used to be a deal at $5 for anything on the menu, now it's on the spendy side ranging from $8 to $12. And the nachos are not recommended, but the burrito has been consistently good. read more

Aztec is a fun brewery of many in Vista that offers a good variety of beers and an awesome music venue for local bands. I especially like coming to watch the local reggae bands. When I first arrived I was a little confused as the entrance looks like a business office however once you walk in the ambience switches to a nice brewery. As for the beer, I recommend the Noche de los Muertos, an imperial stout with a hint of cinnamon. If you're hungry, there are usually food trucks in the back. However be warned that beer is not allowed outside so I'd recommend buying your food first then getting your beer. P.S.: there's a piano in the front lobby area which is fun to play! read more

They sometimes even have a sour beer or two on tap and being one of my favorite types of beer I enjoy that. We have never been there for the live music, but they have open mic on Thursdays and bands featuring local musicians on Fridays and Saturdays. When in Rome... well, you know what to do then. But when in Vista, you drink craft beer. That's just what you do. Staying in the area for more than a week, Aztec Brewery was the kickoff to an epic beer-drenched NCSD vacation. Typical to many small craft breweries in Vista, Aztec is tucked away in the back of a business/ industrial building. Arriving on an early Friday evening with my partner in crime, parking was easy as there were open spaces near the front door. It had been a long day for me, so I was looking a for chill spot to relax & have a few beers. That being the case, I had no idea at the time that Aztec is a local live music hangout. After surveying the chalkboard & it's dozen or so options, we picked out 2 flights of 4 tasters. Staff was very attentive, if not particularly engaging or conversational. The tap/ tasting room is a small, narrow, but long open space thoroughly decorated with a patchwork of Aztec-theme pieces. Across from the bar, in the front corner, is a small stage area. That was my 1st inkling about music here. Then it began. The band showed up, cranked their amps, started belting out their tunes, & all conversation without yelling at the top of our lungs ended abruptly. Honestly, I felt it was overkill. The decibel level coming out of the speakers pointed straight at our faces was a bit much for that confined space. Not what I was in the mood for. Nonetheless, beer was what brought us here & beer can be tasted without the sense of hearing. The 8 beers I tasted covered a good range: IPA's (including a Chipotle IPA), a Blonde (& Coffee Blonde), a Macaroon Nut Brown, a Hibiscus Wheat, & an Imperial Stout. My average rating on Untappd for the 8 beers tasted was about 3.6 out of 5, which is decent. Hands down, the hit of the bunch was the Macaroon Nut Brown. If there's 1 beer to have here, that's it. The Hibiscus Wheat & Imperial Stout were also good, but that Macaroon Nut Brown was definitely the star. Tasters concluded, it was time to take off. For 1 thing, I was getting hungry. & while there was a food truck there, eardrum-splitting loud music wasn't the relaxing beer drinking vibe I'd hoped for. Maybe if they didn't turn the volume up to 11 or played acoustic, we would've hung around longer. read more

I've now been here as both a customer and a member of a band playing that night, and this brewery is one of the best from both sides of the stage. As a customer, the beer is great. They have a variety of different offerings to please everyone, and there are often special brews on offer. You can tell that a lot of thought is put into everything they brew. There's often live entertainment, and there's definitely a wide variety of different types of music. The space is also nice, and I've never felt crowded there. As a band, Tristan and crew make sure that everything is running really smoothly. Very rarely does the venue care so much about the entertainment that performs, but Aztec treats all of the performers really well. Definitely check out Aztec if you're heading to the San Diego area. It's definitely worth a stop! read more

This is at a business park not too far from Iron fist and it's pretty cool. We walked in and they had the music blaring which was good for the night. It is a bit smaller, but they make up for that with snacks and plenty of places to drink. The staff was friendly and we decided to try the four, 4 oz tasters for $5. Pretty good deal. They do serve those in plastic, but I was there to drink beer, not test out the quality of the container. Beer one was the Agave Wheat. Since it was hot, we couldn't get enough of this beer. Light, good flavor and a great starter beer for anyone (especially newbies). Beer two was the Aztec Amber. Very nice amber beer. Malty and smooth with a great mouth feel. Not hoppy at all, and balanced. I could drink this all the time and I see why they got a medal. Up next was the Noche de los Muerto stout. Amazing roasted flavor, almost like an espresso. A very nice Imperial Stout. I was so happy to see a stout as I drink those all year long. I will definitely be drinking one of these again sooner than later. Round 4 was the Chocolate Porter. It took a few sips to get used to it after the wonderful stout. It was good, but probably not our favorite of the night. All in all, if you want a nice beer, at a good price with friendly service, give this place a try. read more
