Beer Battered Cod Taco, Mole de Pollo taco
    Stacey H.

Modern, cool, family run Mexican bar that serves AMAZING, authentic food!! Loved the mole de pollo so much, got it in 2 tacos and a burrito. Also tried a beer battered cod taco (yummy & fried fresh!), & an al pastor taco. The ceviche & chips are a nice starter! Everything is SO GOOD! AND THE DRINKS ARE ALSO BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. The pepino cucumber margarita is the owner's favorite (& mine as well)! Great taste & strong tequila! The owner and servers are incredibly nice and I appreciated the attentive service. Had a great, fun time. There was so much I wanted to try, I could not physically eat and drink it all--MUST come back!!

Come for the authentic menu, it being a local neighborhood spot with friendly service, and the high Yelp reviews. But, you'll keep coming back for the Vegetarian Torta! Everything is made fresh. You can taste the pride for their food with each bite you take. But, the Vegetarian Torta is the star of this menu: Even my "must always have meat" friends are impressed with it every time I introduce them to it! This place has been in my rotation and I visit it at once a month. Or, and did I mention how much I love the Vegetarian Torta?!?!

This place is a hidden gem! The food was so yummy I didn't get a chance to capture a photo before eating but on my second visit, I remembered. The food is so good and the staff are super friendly! I love their quesadillas because they are smaller and perfect for if you want to try a few different ones or just want something small by itself or to pair with one of their delicious tacos. The shrimp taco is so good! Also, they have tv's so if you want to catch a game while you eat amazing food, this is a great spot to consider. I love the decor of the place as well. This is one of my new favorite spots in the neighborhood.

Wow! We've only dined in once and order delivery once, both both occasions were wonderful. The drinks and food are reasonably priced, amazing quality and spices. I saw a happy hour sign when we dined in, so I hope to make it in soon!

Got to check out this former food truck that's now a restaurant in an actual building. It's a good thing for them. Aztec Dave's has a location that makes sense, in an area with a Hispanic and Latino population to bring in. Located close to Humboldt Park. The menu has both meaty and vegetarian kinds of options. Has pretty good prices. It's $6 for Modelo on tap. That's the cheapest beer, plus you of course can get margaritas and whatever. As for the food, big portions help. It's $15 for the Taco Dinner, a big platter of stuff. Choose your protein, and it comes with beans and rice. We each got the beans for the protein, and the tacos were filled and spicy. Better than expected. It's doing good after becoming a permanent location. The atmosphere is fun yet relaxed and the menu has stuff for meat eaters plus vegetarians.

Better birria tacos (really hit the spot!) than I expected and a very extensive drink menu. Pretty solid and friendly, comfy vibes.

While the table was on the sidewalk it was slightly set off and not on a busy street, so that was nice. While I only went inside to use the restroom, the vibes are interesting... I had their aperol spritz and it was okay. It was strong which was good. Then a pornstar martini. I thought the pornstar martini was really good and the best item of the evening. We shared oysters, the crab dip, and tuna tartare. The oysters were alright. The crab dip was funky. It was a bit fishy and maybe too heavy on the dill? I'm not sure but something was a bit off. The tuna tartare tasted fresh and was a good combination of flavors. It would be the only food item I'd reorder from the happy hour menu.

I ordered the horchata 2 ways cocktail which was $12 for haply hour and is typically $16. $12 is the highest amount for a happy hour cocktail that I have ever paid and I dont think it was worth it. The 1st sip was good but it was a very sweet drink and I was over it by the end. The drink also was half a very heavy cream so when you drank it you were drinking the liquid but not getting much of the cream. So you either had to lick the cream off the top or drink on the liquid and then either leave the cream or somehow scoop it out with your tongue so not really a well conceived cocktail. One of the fun and unique things about the bar is they bring out free tapas every once in a while similar to bars in Spain. They brought out edamame to the people at the bar right around 5pm and a group next to me asked at around 530pm if more tapas would come out and the bar person said the come out every 45 mins. I was there til around 630pm and another round of tapas never came out so do not expect that if you go. They did not give you water unless you specific ask for it which I though was odd, I heard 3 groups besides myself at the bar who had to ask for water, especially since this is supposed to be a nice cocktail bar and this is just one of my pet peeves but the water did not contain ice and was closer to room temperature which is not how I enjoy my water. Despite not being super crowded I had to ask for the check from 2 different people and it took 15 mins for them to bring it so if it is crowded I expect they will have pretty slow service. They do bring you a fortune cookie woth your check where you can potentially win a discount on your check or other prizes which is fun. Unfortunately the fortune cookie tastes a bit stale. I would say that this place is not worth it for happy hour but it had a cool but very dark vibe in there so it might be good for a romantic date depending on how good the food is.

With mixology being all the rage for the last 20+ years, I almost feel like it's hard to come up with a new drink concept these days. Truce shows that creativity in the world of booze is alive and well, and I count myself lucky to have had a taste. The 'Peas + Carrots' was a surprise win. Scotch, blanco tequila, sochu, carrot, snap pea, ginger, and kukicha. Sounds bizarre as hell, but it absolutely works. I also had a 'Final Say,' a spin on a classic featuring gin, clementine, fino, galliano, turmeric, black pepper, and lemon. The 'I Can't Believe It's Beer' has everything from mezcal and rooibos tea to guava and an aperitivo. I could ramble on about their menu, but I'd say just check Truce out yourself. You get what I'm saying. Their creative juices are clearly flowing, and they switch the menu up seasonally. They have some light bites too, but I really recommend them for cocktails and coffee. I wouldn't come here for dinner. They do drinks, so come here to drink. Plenty of very savvy-sounding N/A options, too. It's sleek, intimate, sexy, relaxed, and fun. Come through at 8 AM for a cocktail, roll through at 11 PM for a coffee, there's no judgment here. I'll be keeping an eye on Truce.
