We immediately thought to call Aztec who built the fence 20+ years ago, and spoke with Albert, a friendly and knowledgeable sales representative. Albert, set the appointment, was on time and thoroughly reviewed our current issues and all options available for repair or replacement. Albert explained the warranty, coordinated with "Julie" to mark for wiring, gas lines, etc. and communicated with us regularly along with the efficient office staff who kept us abreast of the work timeline. The workmanship was excellent and we were especially pleased with the fair pricing and customer service experience. Aztec installed a cedar fence 6 years ago. Already needed 9 new posts. Only 1 out of every three posts has gravel/cement at the bottom. Cedar fences should last at least 15 years, definitely more than 5. Of course when you call, they want to sell you a whole new fence and not replace or fix the poorly done posts. read more

ZERO STARS I'm the person that usually writes long positive reviews for companies. I make it a point to share my positive experiences with companies that deserve it. This is not one of those posts. This company has the worst communication I've ever experienced. The fence was 2 weeks late, we were lied to about the date multiple Times. The date changed 5 times!! Once they finally came to put up a fence, they were planning on putting up the wrong fence. Thank goodness we caught it in time and called the office to have things changed. After showing up to take the post holes, we were done told that they weren't going to be able to finish for the day and it was going to, yet again, be delayed. Once the fence was set up, we advised them that there were too many large gaps left for our small dogs to get out of. We were told for a week straight that we were going to be brought some dirt to fill in the holes and no one ever showed up. The people that answer the main phone number lost our file multiple times. Once we got the paperwork from the county and the survey, we were asked to send the information via email. Which was then lost on their end for five days delaying the installation even more. It's been two weeks since the fence was installed and we still have bags filling the holes, and we are still waiting for the dirt to be dropped off. Why should I have to spend another hundred dollars on black dirt from Menards when they told me weeks ago they were going to fill in the gaps. read more

We have always had cedar board-on-board fencing on both sides of our back yard, so we've had a LOT of experience with fence companies, good and not so good - replacing rotted posts and bad boards and one or two full replacements. Aztec Fence did the best replacement job by far! Excellent craftsmanship, very good looking result and -- very important -- a good job of cleanup with no mess left for me to have to deal with. When you call them, no one gets back to you. They use crap wood that is cracked and old. The posts they used were cracked. Workmanship is SHODDY They left a horrible mess with cement and rocks all over my lawn..thus killing my grass! I'm afraid to cut my grass and have a rock go flying. I called multiple times, and no one will give any answer as to when it will be cleaned up. I have found multiple boards that weren't even nailed into the posts..this is a BRAND NEW FENCE! Update: After calling the office, I got great customer service from the man who answered the phone, and he sent Albert out the following week. Albert completely redeemed my experience with great customer service, professionalism, and an explanation of the project. He detailed what was needed and provided options to address issues. He even noticed an issue with my fence door hinge and went out of his way to fix it on-site. Thank you Albert. --- Ernie showed up and was unfriendly and rude from the start. He was patronizing and unhelpful and I swiftly asked him to leave within 5 minutes of his arrival. Aztec cancelled and rescheduled our estimate for more than a month after their original date. This was after waiting a month for the honor of paying them thousands of dollars. Now we are scrambling to find a replacement on short notice. Do not trust these people to do anything that they promise. They may have been a good option years ago, but something has obviously happened since then. Not a single good recent lol. Others are correct, they treat their customers with no respect or even a professional attitude. Disgusting and disappointing. Edit: Added one star because they did respond to negative reviews after calm questions didn't get us anything but ignored. Gotta give some credit right? Unfortunately, this is work we needed done and have already had to move on, not that I would trust their work in my specific case either way ya know. We understand that there is a process that takes time and that usual expectations do need to be tempered by the pandemic. Unfortunately, we are sure we set up the estimate. We planned on it and told the neighbors who share our property line about it. Aztec Fence acted like they had no idea who we were. We were referred to Aztec by a professional and friend, so I am sure they will pretend to care if you are offering them tens of thousands, but I'd guess most smaller residential jobs are just not worth their time anymore. read more

I do not choose them just because of price!!!! I would have gladly paid more if I knew the workmanship would be so poor. Not only did they purposefully begin to install in the wrong spot after being told it was laid out incorrectly, but the also did damage to the concrete, as well as the fence. When management was contacted they did send someone out that was supposed to be taking care of all of the many issue we had, but that was a month ago and still nothing has been done, and no follow up. They did not even bring out the touch up paint to fix all the scratches they caused on the "powder coated" fence. My advice is spend a few hundred more and get someone else! read more

Disappointing purchase is an understatement. Spent 5,300 on a fence only to receive poor installation and even worse customer service. #1. Did not let the post set and cure before hanging over 90 ft of fence panel. I'm talking only hours. I was told they do this so kids don't push on the post and they can insure they're straight by hanging the fence on unset concrete. Day 1, set about 25 posts, and hung half the panels. Day 2, set about 7 posts and hung the rest, done by 12 Noon. No time to set, fact! I don't need a salesman on my property telling me otherwise. #2. Only have 1/4" or less of the fence panel on the 4x4 post, fire a nail at 90 psi and either hit or miss or split the wood. They say it is beautiful and normal. (see pics) #3. Arrogant Ernie says if we wanted a good looking fence, that I should have spent 8,300 dollars on Cedar. Look at the pic with the Cedar support cross-sections on the gate, that is how the whole Cedar fence would look- if I did. Cut miters with a circular saw, no fence to rip, cut into a finished product and did not put the last piece on because they probably cut it short. (see pic) #4. The posts are splitting from the top down, I say it's caused by the concrete was never set and the stress from the weight is pulling it. It's also nice when they tell me, "we did 5 other fences in the area, you want to go look at them?" Why would I be concerned about the quality of work at someone else's house more so than the quality of work that I paid for? Complete pathetic installation, not happy with the service at all. Very unprofessional to send a person out that represents your business that has zero knowledge of basic carpentry. I will take every action available to make the situation and the investment right. Do not waste your time or money on this company, hire a true pro. This is not one of them. read more

I am SO glad we decided to go with Aztec Fence! We did a lot of research and did not make this decision lightly. Honestly, we almost didn't go with them because my husband was concerned that Aztec's quote was much lower than the rest of the bids and he thought it was a red flag, but I was very diligent and did a lot of extensive online research of all the fence companies in the area, online reviews from yelp, yahoo, Angie's list, websites and BBB. Aztec actually had many good reviews. This extreme research was because I was afraid from all the horror stories I had read online and my neighbor's bad experience with a different company. Most other companies seem to have great sales, but terrible installation service, user contractors or day workers and issues with the fence. So we did not make our decision to go with Aztec lightly. Before we chose them and after all my research, I emailed them a whole bunch of questions just to make sure every aspect was covered, number of boards, nails, handling slopes, full time staff... and they were very responsive to every email. We even decided to upgrade from wood posts to steel posts, covered by wood facade when Aztec suggested it. It was a little more cost, but we highly recommend it, way better investment. (plus, still less than the other quotes we got.) I did some online research many homeowners and contractors were recommending steel posts. Aztec supplied all the information we needed to get HOA approval and they were very patient. Took two weeks to get a response and J.U.L.I.E had to come back out again to spray, which Aztec handled scheduling. The second we got our permit, they were at our home 3 days later and installed the fence that same day. The inspector came out while they were working and told my husband that Aztec is a great choice. He never has problems with their work and if he got a fence he would call them and not look around for a different company. The inspector gave an unsolicited testimonial and that made my husband feel a whole lot better. read more

We love our new fence! Ernie has been very nice to work with. Everything was well communicated and they put the fence up in a day. The two gentleman who put it up did a great job considering it was cold and snowy from time to time. They were fast and efficient. They did a great job cleaning up after everything was done. We asked Ernie if it would be possible to add a handle on the inside of the gate so kids can close it easier and he said he would do it free of charge. Great customer service! This was the worst experience I have ever had making a large purchase. In the end, they were so rude that we cancelled our contract with them. For starters, my house is in between two other houses that had fenced in their yards. Aztec did one side and another local competitor did another side. We decided to get quotes from each of those two companies, plus one more. Ernie, the salesman for Aztec, came out to give a quote and everything was fine. That was the end of the positive experience with Aztec Fence. We decided to move where we were going to have the fence by a few feet. I called Ernie to ask if that would save any money and he said maybe a little, but that he would come back out to look at it. He re-measured and updated the quote. Then he said to sign the quote so they could get going. When I said I wasn't ready to sign, he literally stormed off without saying anything and drove away. Ok, he must be having a bad day, so I didn't think much of it. Finally, we decided to go with Aztec but wanted to make really sure we knew where the property line was and that the fence wasn't going to have to go through a couple of our large trees. We asked them to verify before we paid that the fence could go where we wanted (there was an easement that we were dealing with). At this point, Ernie was extremely rude to my significant other (being the second time he was rude, this seemed like a pattern and made us nervous). We called the manager who, essentially, didn't care. We ripped up the contract and agreed to reimburse them for the permit fee. We went with one of their competitors who did a fabulous job. Here's the thing, though. After taking our money for the permit, Aztec called our city and *cancelled* the permit - so we had to pay the fee again. The city and their competitor both suggested that Aztec did this just to "mess" with us since we didn't pick them. Overall, I would give 0 stars, if possible, for their customer service. Here's what they did: -Replaced 2 large missing sections of fencing (approximately 26 feet). -Replaced/added 1 five-foot gate. -Replaced a broken post. -Secured another loose post in the backyard. Having a completed, enclosed fence is a wonderful feeling. Now our wild-and-crazy dog can run free without worries of him running away! Before we moved in, we really wanted to replace the missing sections of fencing. We called Aztec, made the appointment and the gentleman was on time and incredibly courteous. He explained the process, how much fencing we'd need and even went through the rest of the yard's fence to note other spots that they could touch up to provide us with a more sound and secure fence. My wife was expecting the work to cost a lot more and I thought it would be a lot less and it fell in the middle. So it all worked out. A couple of little things to know if you're working with Aztec: -They do accept all forms of payment but really prefer check -They'll give you an approximate week/day they'll come out but it's not set in stone due to other jobs and weather -They call the day before they want to come out to do the work (you don't have to be there) -50% due at time of contract signing One thing that seems obvious but wasn't to me that I wish they would've explained better - is how much different the fence would look compared to the older fencing. I understand it ages but it's a stark contrast from new to old. Just knowing would've been less surprising to me. Overall - they were easy to work with and friendly. read more

Asked for a quote to replace 1 post and adjust 3 doors ($150). Told me it was $700 after they tacked on replacing a section($200). There is a $350 minimum so the Post replacement was $350 itself. I asked how much it cost to replace the post if it was not the first thing they fixed (he applies the minimum to the first item not the entire job). They said $150-200. So the job is a minimum of $350. I asked them to do the post and the 3 doors for $350 (the minimum) which is the same as the sum of the individual jobs ($200+$150). He said no. Wasted 2 weeks trying to get them out to my place and chasing him down for an explanation of the quote just to find out they were ripping me off. read more

He started in a bad mood however after the city approved the fence he was happy and did a fantastic job with the instal. They have postponed our fence for close to two months now after we put down thousands for the deposit. The first time they postponed for about 4 weeks, they told my partner it was 'due to rain' during a drought... Now, I have no idea the reason but it's again postponed about 6+ weeks after the estimated time. read more

Aztec did an excellent job repairing my fence. Fast and courteous and very professional. Replaced 8 4x6x9's and also repaired two gates. The crew was professional and very knowledgeable. Cleaned up was the best ever. They will be getting our repeat business in the future for any repairs and or a complete new fence install. Although our fence was not built by Aztec, we have used them 2-3 times now when our fence needed to be repaired (storm damage, post replacement). Quick response to get a quote and they are reasonably priced. They might be slightly higher in prices, but you pay for what you get in terms of quality whereas another company might charge less, but fail to answer calls when further work/repairs need to be done in a few years. Staff is friendly and easy to work with. Fences have been built by our neighbors using Aztec and they love them as well. read more

I recently had a brown vinyl coated cyclone fence installed in my backyard. Ernie Martin was the sales associate who took care of me. Ernie made the entire experience painless. With my work schedule being all over the place its difficult for me to meet people during normal business hours. Ernie communicated with me via text, allowing me to screenshot the signed contract, and the permit so I didn't have to sacrifice my time to get it out to him. When he came to my home to measure and give me an estimate I assumed I would have to wait another week like I did with two other local companies, but that wasn't the case, he had my estimate drawn up and complete in the time he was there. The one time I went to the office, the staff I met with out there was also helpful. All in all Aztec had the best price and was easiest to work with. I initially made the call for the free estimate and went over what I needed and an estimate came back the next business day. The price is where I thought it would be and told them to start the process. They went to the village for me and got the permit. The following week the fence went in and it looks awesome!
