Edit: to be clear, I am stating this as to why I believe the "Karen T." who contacted me through Yelp (who has no reviews but has posted oodles of photos to this business) is not a random stranger, and is, in fact, associated with the business. This means business employees contacting me after I asked they not. I'm not going to be snarky and point out that all the conversations between Jan and I were posted via screenshot, by me. Including Karen's unredacted email. I posted about my experience and added the facts so others may judge for themselves. I included unedited screen shots, Jan commented with edited copy/paste data. Use that to determine what you will. End edit. I am being contacted, again, after I requested they leave me alone. To Jan, Karen, and Custom Built Fence - I request that any further communication be through your lawyer (as stated in the letter). I refuse to allow you to intimidate me, and maybe you'd have been able to offer a reasonable fence repair estimate (under $23k) if you weren't wasting $7 to send me a certified letter threatening to sue me. Or maybe not.

I purchased a home that had a fence installed by Fence Solutions in 2021. The fence looks great,…read moreand honestly, it was part of what made us decide to buy the house. Now for the problem. We have two gates. One of them is next to the garage, and the post that the gate latches to isn't actually a real post. It's just a hollow vinyl sleeve that's attached at the top to the garage, but it's not secured to the ground. It's basically floating. According to the original receipt, the installation included 5x5 posts set 36 inches into concrete footings. That clearly isn't the case here. I contacted the company and initially got their automated system and left my information. After not hearing back, I called again and spoke to someone who was able to locate the original job and said I'd get a call back within 24 to 48 hours. I did get a call the next day, but the person who called wasn't prepared. I still took the time to explain the issue and even sent photos and a video showing exactly what's going on. Despite that, he immediately started talking about costs without ever seeing the job in person. I made it clear that I wasn't calling about warranty coverage. I understand it's been more than a year. I simply asked for someone to come out, take a look, and provide an estimate in writing, along with an explanation of how the issue would be fixed. When he mentioned that the fix would likely involve installing a proper post, it raised the obvious question, why wasn't that done correctly in the first place? He said he had another meeting in 15 minutes and would follow up after speaking with a colleague. As expected, I haven't heard anything since.

I had a Red Cedar fence installed by Fence Solutions about 3 years ago. (An unsealed Red Cedar…read morefence has a life expectancy of about 15 years. If you seal it, a Red Cedar fence can last for 25 years.) Many of the pickets/boards are split and separating. The nails are coming out. The rails are split. The posts are split. Some of the Pickets only had one nail holding it up. Very disappointed. I will probably have to hire someone else and have it repaired. This was a terrible installation and product. I would never recommend this company.

Their quote…read moreactually came up a little higher than other competitors that we got quoted for but because of all the 5 star reviews, we wanted to go with them. If you carefully read all the 5 star reviews on here, they are pretty much the same. It makes me wonder how many of these are family/ friends/ relative reviews. lol.. Yes, Carol and her husband were easy to work with and helpful in the beginning. They were able to come out for a quote on a Saturday and by Monday, i received the quote. Yes, they also took care of permits and whatever that needed to get the project going. Yes, they finished in two days like how they estimated it would take. We wanted a complete privacy fence so we picked the dog-ear 6ft cedar. No one mentioned to me that because of how the backyard is, some of the boards that are next to the posts will need to be split in half to create a bigger sized board to fit. I have attached pictures. When I spoke with them after the fact, they told me this is a common thing to do with privacy fences. I wish i had been told this is what they were going to do beforehand. Had i known this, i would've asked if there is anyway to customize some of the boards to make it fit instead of splitting it. (which, there is..i've asked other people who does fences) And sadly, it looks ugly and that was what people noticed when they came over. From the pictures, you can see some of the boards are so small, i'm sure if there are any problems (like rotting, insects, moisture etc..), those will be the ones that might take a bigger hit. Yes, the workers did a great job cleaning up the yard after all the work was done. I was impressed they didn't leave anything behind and the yard looked like how it was before they started construction. But what I didn't appreciate was they blasted the radio on so loud at 7AM for two days straight. I had a couple neighbors complaining about this to me as well. I understand the job can be boring and you need something to listen to but 7 was a bit early and THAT LOUD. Especially since i remember Carol mentioning they usually start work around 8AM ish. So in case you have kids at home or work 2nd shift etc... heads up. I also noticed a couple nails/screws that were missed on the fence boards. We let Jeff know and he came out and fixed it. We were also thinking about staining/painting the fences in the spring time but when I emailed them for suggestions, no one got back to me about it after I made my last payment with them. **I also want to make a note regarding my package that went missing. They came over to my house on a Tuesday and finished late Wednesday. I had a package that i was waiting for a few days which was scheduled to arrive Tuesday afternoon. After checking tracking and confirming it had been delivered, i went home, looked everywhere on my front porch and my package was missing. I called the security company, who i ordered the stuff from, about the product that was not delivered and also FedEx. The driver came out the next day and said he delivered it and dropped it off in my front porch. Anyway, long story short, I have filed a report/claim. I've lived at this location for 25+ years and never in a day had ANY of my packages gone missing from my house. Coincidentally, it happened on the day we had people over. Anyway, I would just be careful if you have packages that happen to be arriving on the same day where any kind of work is being done with any company. Luckily, because the device that went missing is logged, whoever decides to use this will alert the security company. We also had 2 more packages that were delivered Thursday and Friday of the same week and they were fine. Right where the delivery guy left it; on the front porch. My fence looks good. I don't have much to complain about other than the things I mentioned in my review.

I reached out to Link-n-fence because they were recommended by a neighbor who had used them in the past. I messaged them through Yelp, only to find out they are the same company as peerless fencing. To be honest, this was strike one for me as I often find it strange that a company would operate under two names. Peerless fencing is a company I reached out to on Angie's List before trying Yelp. They have an OK rating and figured it couldn't hurt - the issue is their communication isn't the best. My messages went unanswered from their peerless affiliate, and they only started messaging me after I contacted them through Yelp. They requested photos and more information on what I was hoping to do, so I immediately took photos and explained my situation... Crickets (no response)... for just over a week. To be fair, Monday was a holiday so I don't blame them for that. Finally after giving up and already writing them off, I get a phone call, which I missed and a voicemail from their company as well as an email explaining their pricing. Now - I'm thrifty guy, If I can save money I will, but I'm also reasonable and understand the value of labor... I also work closely with a sales team and I understand the idea behind 'killing a lead' - which is what this quote felt like. 'Adam - We only install our products, that said the first post is $350, and each post after is $150 each'. I have quite a few, so my total would have come to well over $5000, for a company to come in pull and reinstall posts. No Thanks. I'd be a fool to do that. So... Bad communications skills. Long wait times between those communications, and holy hell the pricing is outrageous.
