This place is great. I've stayed at a couple of other hotels in Seligman, one bad, one okay, but when I stayed here I made it my regular spot. I'm there about every other week and have become friendly with the owners, very nice people. Comfortable clean rooms and a common area for morning breakfast. Nothing fancy, but good. But I'm sitting in the creative space painting watercolors (art supplies included from the hotel) listening to a killer jazz playlist and this motel in the middle of nowhere is one of the most magical places I've ever been. Service great? Check. (Sebastian, the owner, is almost always around) comfy beds, good water pressure etc etc... but really this place has someone's heart and soul in it and you can tell. This time we enjoyed the nearby bedrock hangout, played every night in the creative space, painted portraits of each other and had so much fun. Selingman tends to have some not-so-updated motels. Some are borderline scary..and we are no chickens. (Although we rejected the infamous clown motel in NV. Not because of the clowns, or the stories of ownership having cameras in the rooms, but because of the overflowing trailer of garbage parked next to the office). The Aztec is super cute. Squeaky clean. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are nice. The decor has a mid century vibe but you know the items were thrifted and not still here from the 50's. The room smells good when you walk in, like cleaner. Not bleach or Lysol, but more like mouthwash. I can't describe it any better. I liked the smell, my husband did not, but we travel with a small candle. There is a super cute common area with games and a lounge feel. I still want the pictures of the dead-eye children from the lobby. I will be back until I convince them to sell the pictures to me. lol. When in Selingman.. stay here!!! read more

This is a wonderful, family-run motel. The rooms are large and spotless. The motel is in the historic Rt. 66 fashion, but it has been completely updated with modern rooms and facilities. My family and I were on a Route 66 road trip and had a 1 night stop in Seligman, we had an absolutely great stay at the Aztec. We were running behind and called for a late check in. Owner was courteous and helpful. Sent a text with all pertinent details to get into our room after normal hours. We arrived at the motel and had no issues getting in. The room was great size and had all we needed for a comfortable nights stay. To be honest the beds were amazing, the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Actually my entire family raved on and on about the comfy beds. Slept great, shower and bath were perfectly adequate. We were to depart in the morning, grabbed our to go bag breakfasts which were perfect for on the drive munching. Check out was easy and gift shop was adorable, loaded with lots of goodies. Loved this quaint/retro motel! Great halfway spot for us going from Showlow AZ to Las Vegas for a concert. Such a delightful surprise! On our trek home from Santa Fe, NM to Pasadena, CA we found Seligman and opted for the Aztec Motel for their great location across from a Route 66 icon, Delgadillo's Snow Cap. The motel is clean, comfortable and has a welcoming lounge/creative space with books, nostalgic games, and an outdoor seating area. The well-traveled, friendly and personable owners, Anna Marie and Sebastiaan have an amazing story about how they became motel owners and hospitality hosts...a story of survival, spontaneity and perseverance. My Dad (now 90) was one of 6 inspectors of hotels and restaurants for the AAA in the US for over 30 years and I'm sure he would have given this motel a good rating. We left our car in the parking lot after check out and walked into every business in Seligman for a couple of hours. The friendliness didn't stop at the motel. We learned so much about the town, the history and enjoyed the international tourists coming through. So much more than I expected out of this tiny town. This was an overnight stop on Route 66 on our way home, but certainly an unexpected highlight. read more

Made a reservation for Monday, 4/3/23 and man, am I glad I did. Horrible wind and dust storms on the 180 and 40 freeways made it a nightmare to drive. The co-owner told me the town was totally booked up -- people were driving off the freeway to wait out the storm. ANYWAY, it looks like the owners have taken over an old motel and totally fixed it up. All I care about after driving on the road is a CLEAN room with basic amenities and this place delivered in spades. Free wifi, heater/cooler in the room, good water pressure, not one complaint. A pretty basic place but that's all I needed. A very cool "Creative Space" where you can hang out, play the piano, play board games, etc but I was way too busy and tired to check it out. Walking distance (though it was so damn cold and windy I almost stopped) to the famous Black Cat bar down the street. Very kind owners who made sure everything was going well. At first glance one might think this motel is the setting for a horror movie in a tiny town but the truth is, this motel and creative space is fantastic! All the rooms are clean and have updated features that every traveler needs with plugs next to each bed and a small fridge. It is just off the highway with easy access to get to the Grand Canyon or Sedona if you are heading that way. It's about two and a half hours to Vegas if you're heading the other way. The owners are warm and welcoming and community creative space allows you to spread out. The shared space has a table for business, a game area with games, piano, a small library, a jukebox and water/coffee. A thoughtful breakfast is included and ready for you to grab and go in the morning. I wasn't sure of what to expect but it was great. The small motel was at full capacity so I'm not the only one that has discovered this great find. You can walk on Route 66 and explore the stores and restaurants in Seligman easily. It is near a railroad track so you do hear that during the night but it wasn't disruptive. read more

I was on my way back to the West Coast from a motorcycle rally and when looking for a spot to stop for the night, found the Aztec Motel in Seligman. I booked it on line and arrived mid-afternoon. The only way find this cozy, clean, awesome place is to get off I-40 and onto Route 66. It is too easy to miss. The owners, Anna and Sebastiaan are very welcoming. They did everything to make sure I was comfortable and had whatever I needed. The room was spotless. Everything was bright and inviting. Sebastiaan and Anna have done most, if not all, the renovations themselves. I was very impressed with what they have done. When they heard I would be missing the breakfast, as I was to depart at 4AM, Sebastiaan showed up with a bag packed with energy bars, meat sticks, biscotti, chocolate filled crepe in a package, and an apple to take with me. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are ever in Seligman, AZ, the Aztec Motel and Creative Space is the place to be. Definitely deserving of 5 stars. read more

Highly recommend! I just stayed there with a few friends for a short weekend getaway in Seligman. The owner Sebastian was very friendly and hospitable. He and his wife recently remodeled the hotel and did a great job making it a modern, fun and quirky place! Our room and beds were quite comfortable and it was a great value for the price. Breakfast was included in their creative community room, which had lots of games and stylish mid-century modern decorations. I stopped here on a cross country trip from LA that included some camping at the Grand Canyon. It's a really excellent spot. Clean, quiet rooms with a nice little common outdoor area, and the creative space has fun vintage books, games, and an old piano which the owner was happy to record me playing on. Very helpful and welcoming staff who will tell you some interesting stories about the building and the area. I very much preferred Seligman to Williams, Seligman has some nice little route 66 shops and places to eat, but is much quieter and less traffic than Williams. If that sounds more like your cup of tea as well, you will be glad you stopped here. I will certainly be back! read more

Needed a place to spend the night on our way to Sedona from our home in Chino Hills. Someone suggested we stop in the nostalgic little town of Seligman in the historic Route 66. Read the reviews here for the Aztec and decided to call. Marie (the owner) answered and set us up with a room. Upon arrival Marie greeted us with an open door, check in was smooth and she asked to go see the room with us to make sure it was to our liking. (I appreciated that). Room was very clean and served it purpose for a quick one night stay. You also can not beat the price. The next morning, Marie served coffee to us in the room. I would stay here again if passing through. Seligman is a great little town to stop. Lots of history. We were doing a quick road trip from Denver to LA. I wanted to find independently owned places to eat and stay along the way. We made a reservation for the Aztec Motel for my husband and me, and at the last moment, my 17yo decided to join us. I contacted them and they changed our reservation to a double without a hitch. When we arrived, we could tell that the Aztec Motel was an oasis on the Mother Road. The rooms were renovated beautifully-- not the "landlord special" of slapping a coat of paint over everything. It was squeaky clean, high quality beds and linens, and thoughtful touches like water bottles in the mini fridge and grey wash clothes to remove makeup. Everything was styled with a nod to the 50s (vintage bedside tables and lamps) but with modern touches - ac/heater controls AND a fan, for us folks that dig white noise, plugs next to each bed. We spent a restful night and woke up to find snow, to the delight of our CA kid. The owners happily loaned us a an ice scraper and reminded us to nab a breakfast box in the creative space - a box with a hard boiled egg, meat stick, hunk of cheese, yogurt, and other snacky things which were perfect to nosh on the rest of our road trip. The hosts were lovely and the Creative Space had me considering family reunions and retreats. We will make our way back to this welcoming and restful space again. read more

The best place to stay before and after Hiking Havasu Fall Marie, the owner, went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, she always has a smile and such positive energy. We were allowed us to leave our car there during our Havasu Falls Trip (3 nights). She held our smalls overnight bags for after the trip so we didn't have to leave them in the car!
