This is the best place to stay in Seligman. My husband, friends, and I have stayed here many times. It is the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at and I travel over 30 trips a year. It's pristine! Mike and Reinhardt clearly love and take care of their business. I swear they paint and caulk every single day! They go out of their way to make their guests comfortable. Each room has a cute theme like the Train Room, Movie Star Room and Grand Canyon Room. The continental breakfast serves the best German coffee and great food to grab and go. Their is a patio on the second floor that has a great view of the town and mountains. It's perfect for having a couple drinks and enjoying the weather. Best little lodge! We stayed in the John Wayne themed room. The beds were very comfortable, Robert was a total gentleman... it was a very fun, comfortable place. We stayed in an expensive hotel the night before we stayed at Canyon Lodge and the "fancy hotel" didn't have some of what was offered here. We loved having fridge, freezer, microwave and coffee machine. The bathroom was a bit tight but very clean and had everything we needed. Totally worth visiting this lodge! read more

What a great little gem. We stumbled upon this after getting stuck on the road late at night. The rooms are super cute with their unique themes. They are clean and appear to be newly remodeled the TVs are great Wi-Fi is fast and despite being near the train it's not horribly loud. free continental breakfast 6 AM to 8 AM and a charming host are all a bonus. This quaint roadside stay is worth a stop and quite affordable. read more

This is my first (but not last) visit to the Canyon Lodge. An independently owned authentic "Route 66" motel. It's been all fixed up and brought up to current standards with everything that you'd expect. Fast internet, spotlessly clean rooms, each with a different theme. Easy parking right in front of your room door (I often miss that) and truly friendly service from the owner who lives on premises. About a billion channels of Satellite TV and... as an engineer this is important to me... EVERYTHING WORKS! As an aside, I often find myself making repairs to things in Hotel rooms... The owners are German and as you'd expect, everything is tidy, functional and in its place. This is a great place to stay. Lots of attention to detail here! Wonderful customer service! It's run by an older German man who is the absolute definition of hospitality. I felt at home right away. The room was very clean. You can tell that the owner takes pride in his establishment. The price was great; the beds were comfy; the continental breakfast was basic, but good. I really want to give this place five stars, but there were two issues that prevent me from doing so. 1) the heater did not get very warm and 2) there was cold air/ outside air entering the bathroom from a vent in the wall. Once I figured that out and closed the bathroom door the rest of the room warmed up. If these issues are fixed the next time I stay here then I'll update my review to five stars. read more

This sweet little motel is a cutie. The front desk gentleman was a doll who gave me the hotel and town histories. There are post cards available in the lobby. Rooms are themed--I stayed in the Marilyn Monroe room. There was a small frig, microwave and coffee pot. The room was clean. The shower was small. I judge my stay by how I slept pretty much, and I slept like a rock. Free breakfast included pastries, cereal and fruit. Local restaurants close pretty early, but some are right next door and across the street. There are touristy shops in the immediate vicinity, as well. read more

Oh I just love this place. I hope even if this place changes owners, the vibe of the place never changes. It's the best place to stay in Seligman. Choices are limited granted- this place is the cleanest, brightest, competitively priced and it has immense charm. Each room is themed, decorated with matted puzzles and other kitsch items that I simply adore. And it doesn't matter what time of the year I come or when I am there, the bedding always seem new. It doesn't bother me that the air conditioner is so freaking loud that I have to shout to be heard or turned it off to get some sleep- I just love the themed room so much. Haha, what can I say, I want to cling to what there is of uniqueness in the midst of bland, standardized America. Canyon Lodge is stuck in the middle of Seligman, AZ. Right along what used to be Route 66... this town is now nothing more than a bunch of shops selling throwback '50s memorabilia and a couple of hotels. Overall all though, I'm glad we decided to stop at Canyon Lodge right around midnight as I was moving from Los Angeles to Detroit. The place was reasonably priced (around $40 for the night), pretty clean, and had some cool interior decorations. Also... flat panel televisions. So they weren't massive screens like in a Vegas hotel, but it was something in itself just to see those suckers there. My room was like something out of a Beach Boys fan's wet dream. Surf board posters, pictures of woodies (the car, you perverts), and all that crap that makes you want to pick up Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' and drive across the country yourself. They didn't even charge me extra for having a dog. Now that was pretty dang cool and one of the only places across the whole country that didn't. Major props to the folks runnin' this place. The only part that might make you a little uncomfortable is that it is a hotel basically in the middle of nowhere. It's kind of like being in one of those scary movies where all the power goes out, the rain is pouring down, and there's a killer on the loose coming to get you. That's also part of the excitement, I guess. What can I say? I dug the place. Good rooms at a cheap price. You can't shake a stick at that. read more

Pretty fancy for a motel I'd say! I didn't know what theme I would want or anything of that nature so I just went with the flow! Luckily I got the Vegas room! I loved it! I did use my own pillow case (I was worried about allergies) but that's just me being a little paranoid with motels! However the room was pretty clean, bathroom was decent-- they provide soap and shampoo, dish network and a nice 32 " TV, continental breakfast (pastries in packages, oatmeal, coffee, selected cereals, and bananas. The ac was kinda loud! It was the in the wall unit type of ac-- rooms have a fridge and coffee pot as well as a dining table. read more

My newly married wife and I decided to take a road trip to Sedona for our honeymoon. We hit a rather large pothole on Interstate 40 and blew out a tire, 12 miles outside of Seligman. We called a tow truck and booked a room at the Canyon Lodge for the night. We called back to see if they could recommend a taxi service and sadly they couldn't as one doesn't exist, they did however, offer to come and pick us up. They sent a vehicle out and....they never found us lol. Luckily a state trooper did and was able to give us a ride into town. The kindness showed by the motel cannot be understated, it was getting dark and we had no other options. Even if it didn't quite work out the way it was planned, they showed a tremendous amount of kindness and compassion for total strangers. Honestly, most of Seligman did in the time that we were there. The room was clean, orderly, and furnished well enough. The bed and TV were great too. I can't say anything in regards to their continental breakfast as we were keen on continuing our journey. Great break in an old school town. As previously mentioned, Reinhardt is a great resource and very nice. Room wasa little small for 3 but comfortable. We would definitely stay here again. Some rooms are themed which is an interesting touch. Lol We are discerning travelers so are used to nicer amenities but again, this quaint, friendly place was a welcome break from the beating sun traveling west later in the day. I don't write or leave many reviews but after staying here for two weeks straight I thought I'd leave a review because I have nothing but great things to say about the two fellas running this place. The manager Reinhard and Mike have both been very welcoming and kind since day one. I was given the "train" room and you can see how much detail and personal touch went into the room. Coming to a small town like this, one might think this lodge would be untaken care of but its quite the opposite. They both put a lot of care and thought into this place. Reinhardt greeted me with a potted history of Seligman, R66 and the critical role America's oldest barber (Angel, his shop is a 2 min stroll from the Canyon Lodge) in its preservation. Themed rooms were a fun touch. Heating worked, and our non-smoking room was spotless and odor-free with clean linen and towels. Our room had 2 queen beds plus a single. A great place to stay heading in/out of the Grand Canyon from California. I also have to thank Reinhardt's front-office colleague who IDed the fellow guest who backed his F250 into our parked car, and then headed off into the night. He jumped in his car and followed him to one of the 2 local restaurants and encouraged his prompt return. Thanks to him all was resolved amicably. Will definitely return if when in the area again. Stayed at this place based one two things: the Yelp rating and the themed rooms. We were not disappointed. We booked our room at the last minute while leaving the Grand Canyon. I was excited to find out we got the Marilyn Monroe room. Upon our late arrival, we were quickly greeted by Reinhardt - the friendly German gentleman who runs the motel. He was excited to tell us about the town; the animated movie Cars, which was inspired by Seligman; and the famous local barber. He then proudly informed us that our room would be cozy and clean, and they were that. Being the Marilyn Monroe room simply means there's a bunch of framed photos of her on the wall and some pink bed sheets. Nevertheless, she's much more pleasant to look at than some stock framed art from Michael's. As we were only staying in Seligman on our way home from a road trip, we quickly crawled into bed and turned on the television to wind down with some beers in hand. Reinhardt told us they had 200 channels to choose from and he wasn't kidding. I was excited to stumble upon a channel that had the highlight's from the Manchester United match I missed earlier in the day. We left early the next morning after enjoying some of Reinhardt's strong German-style coffee and some instant oatmeal. As we got on the road, we were thankful to have stayed at such a comfortable motel with a very friendly staff. Highly recommended. read more

We stopped on the way to Colorado and found this with yelp reviewers advice So far that was the best motels we found for the price we paid and that had the service come with it- Reinhart (the owner) was very helpful, got us a bit of history about the city and gave us a very good price for this themed 50s room that was VeRy clean, well organized and furnished, and practical. If Hilary Swank stayed there that should ring a bell that it's safe;) Perfect for an overnight stop, smelled good and fresh. Has a MW, IB, and fridge as well as BDryer Will stay again for sure!!! We left Albuquerque a little late and didn't want to drive all the way to Kingman, AZ. So we found Canyon Lodge on Yelp and figured that it might be fun to see what the old Route 66 was like even if we don't usually stay in 50's style motels any more. What a treat this place was. The owner, Reinhard, is a long-time transplant from Germany who seems to smile all the time. His good humor is contagious and we found ourselves smiling right along with him. He was very friendly and offered a wealth of information about the history of the town and how it had been saved after I-40 was built by a local barber, Angel Delgadillo, who still operates a barber shop just down the street at age 87 or so. Reinhard's assistant, Mike, was also very courteous at all times and also knowledgeable about their little town's history. The room was absolutely spotless, including the carpet, the bedspreads and every inch of caulking in the (small) bathroom. The room (#7) was on the lower floor and was very quiet, except for an occasional passing train (some distance away on the other side of the street). The list of amenities in the room is similar to modern chain hotels: free wifi, flat-screen TV (DirecTV), coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, AC with heat and cold. The price of our room was WAY under $100.00. (Actually $58.00 plus tax in April 2014) Reinhard recommended Lilo's restaurant where showing our room key got us a discount. We split a very large wiener schnitzel that was delicious. The town is now mostly shops filled with Route 66 memorabilia, but hidden there is some local history that we found to be fascinating. Canyon Lodge is located toward the east end of town. If entering off I-40 from the west (near Lilo's), keep driving east for a little bit to get the flavor of the whole town and find the Canyon Lodge. read more

I can't say enough about this gem of a hotel. The attention to detail in the rooms is outstanding. Absolutely spotless! We came in late and I was a little panicked about finding a place because some of them didn't look very nice but this one was fantastic. The owner, Reinhard, gave us a great recommendation of a dinner place and gave us a bunch of tips about going to the Grand Canyon, as we were headed there the next day. Very friendly welcome (with a free beer) and good advices on where to stop going west on route 66. The room was clean and the queen bed comfortable. Seligman is a tiny town and I'm not sure it's possible to get a dinner or a warm breakfast here, so do not hesitate to stop at Williams for the dinner. A free continental breakfast is provided by the motel. On my way back, from Grand Canyon, I would probably stay there again. read more

For the past 4-5 years we've tried to stay at the Canyon Lodge again but they've been booked each time. Now with the current state of the country we found ourselves with a room at the Canyon Lodge this trip! The rooms have been recently updated too. We had the John Wayne room. So much thought went into the decor. And it was a spotless room! It had more amenities than more expensive places we stayed on the way. Two comfortable queen beds (not just full beds masquerading as queens, these were the real deal). Flat screen TV. Fridge. Microwave. Four sets of towels -- this probably made me the most thankful. As I write this, we are at a Marriott hotel with two queens and only two sets of towels in the place. Irritating to have to request more. Glad the Canyon Lodge has it all ready for us. We loved this place and look forward to our next stay already! read more

Reserved room in advance for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 small dog. Small dog fee an extra $10. The outside looked a bit iffy, but so did the rest of the town. Either way, front desk manager was very helpful with information about where to eat, discounts and other area to-dos. Now, the room inside was beautiful compared to the outside (which is what we would have preferred!). We stayed in the motorcycle room, which didn't bother me one way or the other, but the cleanliness was A+. The mattress was big and supportive, with excellent sheets, comforter and big comfy pillows. It all seemed to be well kept and new feeling. Excellent after a long drive, and even my wife was impressed (I know, right!). Additional points for modern flat-screen television, satellite TV, free wi-fi, decent fridge + microwave and coffee machine. It even has functional hot water out of the bathroom faucets. The bathroom was a bit small but still able to do what you gotta do, so not a big issue unless you are a huge person. One note: if you bring your pet, take your pet with you when you leave to out in town. We left our little yappy mutt there and sure enough, he bothered some of the clients and we were asked not to do that by aforementioned front desk manager. Sorry! Lastly, on the way out I grabbed some of the 'continental breakfast' which consisted of mostly packaged goods, some fruit and some coffee. I'm pretty ghetto, so that's good enough for my fam, but that may fool others who expect fresh cooked anything. read more
