Not a bad place, but if it's busy walk away and go somewhere else. They work hard to hard. When they get to you they don't have much time to take your order so they rush you through it. I understand that but they tend to ignore you while you wait. I tried to get their attention, because my silverware was dirty with cheese dried in to it. This happens in restaurants that are in a rush to turn tables and get their silverware washed and ready for the next customer not a big when it happens just ask for a new set no problem normally. It's not great being ignored by all the staff while your food gets cold even thought they are busy. More of a management issue good please just not ideal when busy read more

Ordered the Azteca chowder and the tres amigos plate. Azteca chowder had good flavor but the plate below the bowl had some pieces of shredded lettuce on it, could be some new way of presenting a bowl of soup but felt more like they didn't care to make sure the plate was clean. The tres amigos, it just looked gross. The sauce was slimy on both meats and the chile verde looked like brains. Haven't been back in a while because federal way has so many good options but for as beautiful as the restaurant is the same quality should be on the plate. read more

Good for what it is. Walking distance from my hotel, plenty of seating, quick/friendly service but not authentic in anyway. My burrito was good; plenty of carne and rice but it was more of an enchilada style- red sauce and open. No other salsa available besides the watered down version. First off, both my husband and I were made sick with lower GI problems for two days. I ate what the waiter called "American" tacos, which are crispy, but nowhere on the menu did it label them as crispy. I had one half of one of the two tacos on my plate. It was horrible. Absolutely no flavor. Taco Bell's are tastier and have never made me sick. It was after 2pm on a Tuesday. The restaurant was not busy. The older waiter was the most unpleasant man I have ever encountered in a service job in my 72 years of life. If you hate your customers and your job so much, don't inflict your misery on the people who are there to enjoy a single, simple meal. He made us wait for so long after we finished our meal that the manager finally came over and gave us our check. I think with the virulence of and nationwide contamination with potentially life-threatening cyclospora in/on iceberg lettuce, restaurants should be proactive by serving a different type of lettuce or state to uninformed customers that they might be served contaminated lettuce, which is then buried under a bunch of other food. We were a party of 10 for lunch and they handled it very well. The service was great...took some time but all the food came out correctly and was hot and delicious. The pollo el carbon is really good. I understand that restaurants have to charge for chips on a to go order. What really burns me up is they don't care enough about the customer to put in salsa with your chips or food. How you do anything is how you do everything Kinda sad. Clean, fast, good. Lovely decor inside this large establishment that has separate bar and dining areas. Our order was taken quickly and food delivered very quickly. The food was good, a little on the mild side, but that's what we were looking for. We shared the ground beef enchiladas with Mexican Rice and Refried Beans. Azteca in Kent has been a favorite in our family for over 25 years. We go there after hockey games, birthdays, or take out when we don't want to prepare dinner ourselves. We have also ordered many Azteca platters for employee birthdays , as well just for a good lunch. We have had them cater our company parties as well. We have always been very satisfied with the great food and service. Today I received a email to purchase gift cards with a bonus $10 for every $50 spent. I did!!!! Everyone is getting a gift card for Christmas and will be soooooo Happy. Thank you Azteca for making my Xmas shopping a breeze !!! Bartender, shady AF. We asked for 6 shots of silver tequila and the bartender started to rattle off Liquor brands and once he said "Herradura Silver" we asked for this.....In fact...we asked for this 4x. We even looked at each other a little dumbfounded as to why he wouldn't stop suggesting other brands because two of use clearly said "Herradura Silver". The bartender chose to pour and charge us for 6 "ultra"....which takes an 8 dollar 'shot' into the 20 dollar 'sipper' range. We didn't complain because we didn't know what he poured us until we took our shots. I mean, we drank them as shots. They were gone before we knew he had poured sipping tequila. How can we complain? Shame on us for wasting really good tequila. Shame on them for wasting an opportunity to have really good customers. No wonder the bar was empty....shady AF. read more

Not sure if I would recommend this place. The pork carnitas that I ordered was way too salty and my husband thought his steak tacos were mediocre at best. It took a while for us to even get water after we placed our order and our waiter wasn't very attentive. Place is nice though and not super loud which we liked. read more

OMG, we had a great lunch after a fun day with my coworker and my daughter. I had the chicken taquitos, my daughter had enchiladas and my coworker had the nacho burrito, oh yeah and we added the queso and chips and added some of the queso to my taquitos , that was super amazing. The food was hot and fresh and the taste was flawless. Our server was friendly and he checked on us multiple times, while we were eating. The Male host working the front desk is arrogant and rude. I stated I was here for a pick up; he looked me up and down and asked for a code. He thought I was a delivery employee. Time is ticking I finally ask for a fork .. he attempts to brush me off saying he's with a customer (phone).. I have to state that I'm an in person customer as well . His reply ... Stopped by for a quick lunch. Service was amazing. The tea was great and the chips and salsa were decent. (I'm from Texas and am used to homemade tortilla chips and salsa). I ordered the Camarones Monterey and just this dish alone I would recommend trying it out. A lot of food for the price. Been to this NEW location 3 times and worse each time. Today we went the last time, the server came to our table, dropped a pile of menus , took our order, served chips and salsa then when the chips and salsa were gone asked if we wanted more chips, we said yes but later had to ask for more salsa . Meanwhile got drinks, NO NAPKINS, NO SALT OR PEPPER, NEVER ASKED about water. THEN drinks empty, NEVER asked if we wanted another drink. Absolutely the worst. My husband and I came here for lunch over the weekend and were so impressed with the updates to the new location! The restaurant looks much more modern now.. I'm disappointed to see that the rest of the reviewers weren't pleased with the change. I've been a huge Azteca fan for a very long time. But the service and food during this visit beat any other experience I've had while dining at Azteca. From the second we walked into the restaurant my husband and I were warmly greeted and seated right away. Chips salsa and drinks were brought within minutes & the staff continuously checked with us to make sure we didn't need anything and would refill us on chips beverages in a timely matter without having to be asked. The food was delicious and more flavored than I remembered it being. I'm excited for the new location to have officially opened- can't wait to be back soon. read more

Not sure what the name of my buddy plate, something new for him, beef, onions and mushrooms almost looked if it was a stew ? Came with rice and beans and came with tortillas.... I thought it LOOKED good, biggest disappointment, no taste, only had a few pieces of beef, mostly onions and it had zero taste to it !!! Been coming here for years, but after today, Taco Bell looks to be a better Mexican place to eat ... Let's hope they change for the better because this isn't going to be good for them, people work to hard for their money and to see it wasted on BLAND FOOD, they won't stay open for long .... The food was hot and fresh but lacked flavor. I had a burrito and it had no taste except for spicy. My peach ice tea was just mainly peach and no ice tea. My relative had a taco salad and said the chicken had no taste. Took me awhile to flag down the waitress to ask for some more salsa to go with the chips we still had on the table. I only rated Azteca one star because there is no option to leave ZERO stars. We sat at our table for about 20 minutes before anybody even came to us in general. We had to ask multiple times to get more chips and salsa. Our drinks were made incorrectly. My food looked like dog food and she didn't give me my tortillas until 20 minutes into our meal. The appetizers were brought out after our entrees. Any time we asked our server for basic things like napkins and silverware she acted like it was a complete inconvenience to her. And then to top it off, a few days later we got our credit card charge and she added an additional tip to what we had given. DO NOT GO TO FEDERAL WAY AZTECA. Don't know if this applies to dine in, but I just called to place an order for takeout and was told they are now charging for chips and salsa to the tune of 2.50 for chips and .75 for each container of salsa. You guys have gone absolutely LOCO. Mind you the owner of Azteca corporate, is a multibillionaire. Time to support the smaller establishments. Plenty of other Mexican restaurants to choose from.
