More accurately I would rate this establishment as 3.5 We started out with the chips and salsa, and both were lackluster (and fyi an additional cost of $3.50). The chips weren't the freshest tasting, and the salsa tasted as though it came from a jar. We also ordered the regular burrito. It's a small, seemingly family-run establishment that offers good food and great service. I ordered two tacos, desebrada (shredded chicken) and camaron (shrimp), and nibbled on chips and salsa and sipped horchata while waiting. The salsa served with the chips had the perfect kick. My boyfriend and I came in 40 mins before they closed, to which two tables were occupied and some takeout orders coming in. The cashier lady was kind but she did rush us several times while we were trying to order. We are super indecisive and it's very pressuring if we get asked constantly if we are ready. The food was alright, came out in weird order. Like I got a carnitas plate but got my corn tortillas much later. My boyfriend's food came in during that time as well, so I was halfway done by the time he got his food. The cashier lady was also mopping and sweeping while we were eating which to me is pretty bad mannerism. As a waitress in several restaurants, I was told we needed to wait until all customers to leave as to not pressure them or gross them out. I love this little place. It's a Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant that serves delicious food that reminds me of being in Southern California. The menu is surprisingly broad, but everything seems fresh. The salsa and guacamole had a healthy amount of heat, but are very good. The tamales are very flavorful and have more stuffing than masa, creating the proper balance. The beans are good and flavorful. The service is prompt, but could get overloaded if the number of customers were at capacity. The ambiance is nice, but a bit sparse. The corn tortillas are outstanding, obviously made from scratch and full of flavor. I had the Cabeza, Pastor and Pollo Asado. Cabeza was the best, moist and full of flavor. The pastor left me a little flat, as it was a little drier than I typically like. The chopped fresh pineapple on top was a nice touch. My lunch companions both had enchiladas and enjoyed them. The lowdown on what's good: Tortillas, guacamole, Cabeza tacos and how when you order a Coke, you get the medio litre in the glass bottle. Definitely a traditional family sort of place vibe. Is there a 6th Star? Because this mexican eatery deserves it! I almost wanted to not rate this restaurant and keep it a hidden secret. It is just that good. As soon as you are seated they give you a fresh batch of tortilla chips and homemade salsa. There is a salsa condiment bar, where you can pick from pickled veggies, radishes, lemons, and other salsas. The hot one has a taste of tequila in it, so be aware! My favorite was the verde avocado salsa. Refreshing. We ordered tacos: from al pastor, beef, tripa, and lengua. They have an option for .35 cents extra for homemade tortillas! This used to be my wife and my spot for Mexican food. Being from San Diego and moving up here has been difficult when it comes to finding anything close to home. We initially fell in love with this place as it's food, especially it's carne asada, was the real deal and soooooo good! UPDATE We haven't been here in a few months, especially since COVID. We were feeling like some amazing carne asada, so we decided to place an order. Upon pick up, I asked where the chips and salsa were, and the lady argued with me saying that is only for those who dine in. I looked around at the empty place due to COVID and said "so you want us to dine in?" and she hesitated with a long pause. I simply said to her, we're paying for our meal the same as if we were dining in, AND we've ordered take out before and this was never an issue. This place has the goods. It's a small restaurant located in little strip of mainly Korean businesses along PacHwy across from HMart. Don't be fooled by its humble appearances though. Food here is very good! I ordered the carnitas plate. Comes with side of rice, beans, and small salad. The pork itself tastes great and the portion size isn't that bad either. Meat may be a bit on the greasy side, but overall I like the tender moistness delivered with each bite. Also, the mojarra frita is good. Most people should know by now that tilapia is basically garbage fish (just look up how it's farmed and where it's sourced), but once in a while, I'll have this dish. I wouldn't say that Federal Way completely sucks when it comes to dining options because of the Korean food and also because of a few other places like this one. My youngest loves their steak street tacos, I love them too! This is a taco truck off Military Rd and 288th. They offer outside dining, quick service and delicious street tacos full of full flavors and their hot sauce is delicious! Love hispanic food and this place did not disappoint. The only downside was the price for the tacos and the interesting option for home made tortillas for an additional price which was fine at first. Until I realized the tortilla seemed just like any tortilla and it felt like a major upsell with no major difference in taste. The price for tacos was 2.50$ each and to me super expensive for one taco. With the home made option added it was almost 2.90 I also ordered the Fish which was good. The Hubs and I ate here for lunch today and were blown away! Not only was the food amazingly good and the service friendly and fast, but we were also serenaded by a father daughter musical duo who were just beautiful and wonderful. I had the carnitas plate. Everything was delicious. Carnitas were a combo of crispy pieces and tender pieces. Rice and beans were cooked just right. The homemade corn tortillas were soooooo good. The Hubs tried a pollo taco, a bistec (steak) sopa, and a carnitas mulita. He loved all of them. We both enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa. Tonight was my 2nd time ordering uber from them. The first order was so damn good. 1st order: Mulitas ( i hadn't had before) it was so delicious! A wet burrito verde, it was HUGE and so good!! 2nd order: Combo Quesatacos with consome. Quesatacos were stuffed to the brim with meat, not as flavorful as one I had from a restaurant in Tukwila ( i dont know, an ex employee of mine bought it 3 years ago) but they were good. The consome was very bland from other restaurants I've had before. Pico de gallo, no jalapeños i guess, not spicy, kinda bland. Their side salsas that are typically included are so good. The red one is spicy and delicious, i ended up mixing it with the pico. The salsa verde was not spicy but very flavorful.
