I was so irritated that I spent $70 that I asked to pay and just left. I guess if you're from Washington or don't know anything about Mexican food you might like it. I should have known this was going to be a bad experience, when I noticed that all of the customers in this Mexican restaurant were older white people, but sadly we tried it anyway. Food was really bad- queso was watery and chunky at the same time, my water glass had old cheese melted on the rim (waiter didn't seem surprised or apologize?), à la carte tostada was buried under a plate of lettuce, and had beef just like the meat at Taco Bell... Even though the waiter noticed that I didn't eat my meal, he didn't ask about it, and weirdly would look out of the window when we talked to him, instead of looking at us? Weird. A kids quesadilla, 3 taco plate, one tostada and 2 ice teas were $70 before tip, which is wild for that poor food quality. Being someone with food allergies they don't seem to care what sauces they put on the different entrees and don't list the ingredients anywhere. Avoid this location in particular. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner this past week. This was my first time, but he had been here several times before. The restaurant has a sign on the door saying that they were short on staff and that the wait could be long, but we were seated immediately upon arrival. However, we noticed that the kitchen staff were also working as servers and so the sign was not lying. I ordered the vegetable fajitas with corn tortillas and my boyfriend ordered the chicken enchiladas. We also received complimentary tortilla chips and salsa and refried beans. We really liked the refried beans because they were served hot and we're not a typical complimentary item at most restaurants. My fajitas were hot and came with mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, red pepper, and yellow squash sautéed in a slightly red sauce and served with sour cream, lettuce, guacamole, a scoop of cilantro rice, and a small bowl of black beans. It was definitely more than enough food for me. While the vegetables were fresh, they were kind of bland and nothing out of the ordinary. My boyfriend enjoyed his enchiladas which were smothered in refried beans, sour cream, and melted cheese. Service was good. Our host was friendly and quick to write down our orders. He also came by to refill our water. The bathrooms, not going to lie, were relatively clean but smelly. The women's room also did not have paper towels. Puerto Vallarta has always been a middling Mexican restaurant which unfortunately has gone down precipitously since the pandemic. The food was always been below average but the location and friendly nature of the staff was enough to make up for it a bit. The salsa remains good and my younger daughters love the rice and beans. However, everything else food-wise is probably one star. The prices have gone way up and now approximate those of a place with good food, yet the food remains significantly below average. The more recent challenge with this place is that there is rarely anyone standing at the reception desk. As a consequence, I strode waiting for 10 minutes before I could place an order. Moreover, the last three or four times I picked up orders (which came right out of the kitchen), the temperature was tepid at best and had to be heated up upon returning to the house. I only return because of my daughters, but I think I will try harder to convince them to go elsewhere. I wish this place was more like it was five or six years ago because all of the great wait staff are still here. The second star is for them only. What a shame. read more

I have eaten her many times and always found the food to be absolutely wonderful from their soft shell tacos to their softshell fish tacos to the amazing chips and salsa that they give you everything that we've ever had here has been top notch always fresh, hot and delicious. The staff is wonderful and the place has great charm to it. Yes, the prices can be a little steep but I think for the amount of food that you get it's worth it. I've heard people talk about a smell when you walk in the door that it's a huge perfume any type of smell I've never had that experience and nobody in my party that I've been with have ever experienced that. I ordered via Uber Eats! I received very large takeout containers of, chicken chimichanga, super tasty chunks of shredded chicken. It did travel a ways and it was not hot. My family also got a burrito, chunky beef which was huge! When asked what kind of beans and rice I stated and it was on the order slip however it was only a burrito no rice or beans and this burrito was almost $15! I just want to start by saying, I've been a huge fan of puerto Vallarta for several years since I first tried it out in West Seattle. When I moved down to federal way, I was ecstatic to find out that there were two near my new residence. While the one off of enchanted highway met the same level of quality in food (not so much customer service). This location just made me laugh and throw my entire dinner straight into the trash. First of all, the Cancun platter is basically a plate of chicken, onion, and seafood that someone chewed up, digested, then defected into a platter, then garnished it with some microwaved lettuce, tomatoes, and god knows what else, then accompanied by some rice and beans. The best part about this was the cheese which was questionable as well. Secondly, my go to for the last 3 years, the molcajete. This was basically a burnt plate of carcinogen where the only thing I tasted was a big F you. Thirdly, the chicken chalupa... I'm going to save time and just say I would have been happier going to Taco Bell one minute before they closed. If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor and not go here. I wasted over $120 getting a bunch of garbage that ended up in the trash and even my pups were giving me the stink eye. However, their chips and salsa were edible. read more

Our party of 6 visited this place on a Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised by both the service and the food. Our server was very quick and efficient. Our food was delicious. I had the #9 combo, Tamale and Chile Relleno, the chile was nicely battered and deseeded and fried to a golden brown and oozing yummy cheese, I loved it. The tamale was wonderfully overstuffed with savory pork and smothered in an unctuous spicy sauce. Everyone else really enjoyed their food as well, especially my grandson who literally inhaled his Seafood Enchiladas. Also notable were the margaritas. Oh, my! As you walk in the door, you are assaulted by the horrible perfumed air that I think is from an air freshener. It is so cloying, you can't smell anything else. We could even smell it at our table, so it made enjoying our meal very challenging. We had appetizers, which were just so-so. Walked in and no one was available at the host station to seat us so we took a spin around the bar for a seat but at that moment it became clear this was a daily watering hole for some patrons and we instantly didn't feel like we wanted to eat dinner in a bar... some restaurant bars are okay but this felt like dive bar you know your dad goes to for a beer r after work. We waited for a table and I will say the wait service and bussed very attentive and our water was never empty The stars come from the food quality. I order chicken mole everywhere I go. It's my go to meal and in fact I was craving it when we embarked on this place for dinner. The mole was so sweet I couldn't even finish half of my plate. Last time I come to this location I enjoy the food from puerto Vallarta I'm always visiting this or the other federal way location Edgar who says he's the manager is the worst person to get customer service On the first occasion that a problem occurred I had placed an order online that they said wasn't processed I went in made my order in person and got my food I was later charged for both and had the ticket number from that day and showed them my bank statements and wanted to get the matter resolved I have my own food business and I also use the Toast pos system I was told the couldn't refund me so I told them they can just make me the plate sience it was there error and I was charged they made a big deal as if I was trying to scam them when they had already taken my money I had contacted toast they told me to go to the restaurant and they COULD do a refund or give me the item I had payed for they reluctantly did make me a new plate but to get to that point Edgar the manager make his presumption that I was scamming the restaurant when I had proof of all the charges. After this I still wanted to support their business and I ordered online sadly I was given the wrong order and delivery was poor as the packaging didn't hold up and I had my food spilled in the bag. On today 6/13/24 I placed my order on the phone and went to pick up the order for Edgar to once again deliver his awful customer service basically insinuating that I was taken someone else's order without paying when I had clearly had gotten there payed and was told here is your food I went to use the restroom finished and had my receipt in my pocket for Edgar to come out with a tray of shots trying to check me if I had payed for my food that I was grabbing he said oh we have a lot of people coming to steal food when I was already leaving out the door so there he goes against profiling me don't order they this location Go to the other federal way location by Costco there staff is top notch no problems ever and I'm a weekly regular there sometimes twice a week save yourself the stress and bad moment. Ok, I can only rate this place based off their bar and dessert. We went here because I was craving a mango margarita and flan. I was very disappointed as my margarita tasted nothing like a mango and almost nothing like a margarita. Super watered down... I'm a super lightweight and didn't even feel a buzz... not even a teeny one... And for some reason, my flan had a taste of peppers. I am sure they did not cook their flan with peppers so they only thing I can assume is that perhaps the peppers and flan were next to each other in the fridge? IDK but it was disgusting. Customer service wasn't the best. We ordered at the bar, no one came to check on us or follow up with our experience. I know we were there for only dessert and drinks but I noticed others were there for just drinks and they were offered chips and salsa... WTF... I would have liked to try to enjoy chips and salsa with my flan too. Hahahaa... I've only been to Puerto Vallarta once... Based off my one experience, I am not motivated to try the rest of their menu. I did notice they had another location located about a mile away. When the game was over, after about 30 minutes of SonoBello informercial, we asked them to change it and they did quickly. I like when they don't roll their eyes or pout to have to mess with the TV's, and she even had to climb up on a chair to do it (which is silly, work on that). The food was good - salsa good and spicy and bean dip was free (always a plus). They also have a seafood chile relleno that was bomb. Update: We've eaten here several times over the past year, it's always busy in the evenings which is a good sign! But we never wait too long for seating or service.
