This place hasn't change at all, inside has always looked the same, the flavors of the food has been consistent, and the service has always been quick. I ordered 2 Carne Asada tacos (steak) and 1 Lengua taco (tongue) and my GF got 2 orders of Ceviche (shrimp) and a Camaron taco (Shrimp). Overall the food and prices were great! Nailed it. I put in a order of 140 tacos for a work event 1 day ahead of time. Not only did El Taco Maestro accommodate my order, but it was ready on time, and they packaged everything up really nicely and had all of the taco toppings in separate containers for easy serving. As I said the place was pretty busy and I think because of that cleanliness was taken down a notch since it seemed very hectic here for the staff. I spent many years in Los Angeles. It may not be for everyone, but El Taco Maestro is very much the kind of place I hung out in while living in LA. I've been to Rinconsito and Sabor, and Taco Maestro is just closer to the thing I'm looking for. Call that a nostalgic trip, but there it is. That means if you're the kind of person who enjoys Azteca, or Jalisco, you're probably not going to like this place. It's very rough around the edges, and serves things like birria (goat) and cabeza (brains). But it doesn't lean on the platillos (plates) like those places, nor does it lean on the margins from serving alcohol. In fact, I was looking last night, and they don't serve alcohol at all. Many Mexican places in Puget Sound clearly rely on their bar markup to survive -- not Taco Maestro. However, if you want a Sonoran/Angelino carne asada burrito, or four chorizo tacos -- chorizo that leaves its drippings a nuclear orange color, as it should be -- Taco Maestro is your kind of place. The heart of their menu is "the grid" -- proteins (carne asada, birria, chorizo, etc.) on the vertical, preparations (tacos, quesadillas, tortas, mulitas, burritos, etc.) on the horizontal. The horchata is delicious, and "big" should be "gordo." I think it's 64 oz. Soft drinks have refills without charge, but for the horchata they do charge. In my interpretation of the five star scale, four stars means I think you can go out of your way from anywhere in the Puget Sound region and enjoy the restaurant. However, that comes with an if. *If* you're looking for cooking in the Sonoran/Angelino street style. If you're just looking for generic "Mexican," you probably won't be happy here. read more

Their burrito are not put together but when you can get them together they're pretty good. The horchata is good though. If you were to go here for anything it'd probably be that.
