This hotel has very high points, however there were a few things I feel they should improve on. I'll start with the highlights. I must say that I give my highest respects to the housekeeping staff being that they kept our room clean and we never walked into an untidy room. They even did sweet designs with flowers on our beds and in the bathroom. No dust, and a very clean, well maintained room, housekeeping gets five stars. Also, the waiters at the restaurant 'Colores' were extremely attentive and on top of things, I honestly commend them for it. The night time shows were excellent and my personal favorite was the Broadway show (EVITA!!) And, I must say that the A La Cart restaurants, Costa Azul and The Oyster Bar, had exceptional food, absolutely delicious!
Now, onto the areas I felt needed work. When wanting to make reservations to take a tour by kayak, my cousin was told that only ten people were allowed to go, but one person could sign for one kayak (two people.) Only four family members were present, thus she asked to quickly go get my other cousin so she could sign and we could make a reservation. The woman told her she'd have to get back in line, however she told others making reservations that they could make the reservation and just come back and sign later. While we had to wait FORTY FIVE MINUTES in the burning sun, just to make a reservation. I find this unacceptable being that we are also guests and the woman made us waste forty five minutes of our vacation time. This was frustrating and unprofessional, not okay. I also saw a negative attitude from the lifeguard at the children's water slide area. She was blowing her whistle at a child who was sliding down on his stomach. When the child wouldn't hear her, she would roll her eyes and rub her head, she seemed like she did not want to be there. As a guest, this is concerning because someone with such immature behavior and negative attitude should not be in charge of overseeing the safety of children. The food at the resort wasn't successful in the buffet style restaurants, being that I ate the same thing everyday, just in a different sauce. Finally, the evening time shows, while spectacular, were held in the convention center which was a bit far from the hotel. I did not enjoy walking in my heels and feel that it would be more fun to have the show outside in the stage area where guests don't need to walk as much.
While the service in certain areas and the food were far from exceptional, this was a really fun family vacation that I enjoyed. This hotel is very family friendly and I think that you can overlook the extreme humidity in a clean, air conditioned room with a spectacular view. read more
