BLOWN AWAY! We started with the mushroom soup and I WISH I could take some back to the U.S.A.! Wow wow wow. I love how light and flavorful it was. We ordered quite the spread. My husband and I somehow fall upon Azz! on our visit to Sorrento, and I'm so happy we did. We arrived at 7pm and only had to wait about 20 mins. Shortly after 7:30 the line grew. Wow! All I can say is WOW! I have been eating Italian vegetarian food for almost 2 weeks in the Amalfi Coast and I would say this restaurant had some of the best food of my trip. It's a small little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and most may think to walk by it but I am so glad I didn't. The food was excellent. I went here twice and the second time I took my friends who were visiting. They were also very impressed with the food. I got the penne arrabbiata. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was flavorful. It was one of the best penne arrabbiata's I have had. My husband got the caceo e oglio and the pasta was slightly over cooked in my opinion but the sauce was excellent. As a table, we shared bruscetta and garlic bread. They were both delicious. The garlic bread is a must try. It was so good and melted in our mouths. We all wanted to order more. The bruscetta tasted fresh and was well seasoned. We made friends with a few people at the other table and they told us they have been coming back to this restaurant multiple days in a row because of how impressed they were with the food. If you are in Sorrento, you need to add this place to your list. The place is small and had indoor and outdoor seating. Mom and daughter work the front of the house. We were a party of 6 and had to split up which was fine. The bruschetta was delish, along with the pesto pasta, bolognese pasta, pizza and lasagna. Save room for dessert. We loved Azz! so much our first night in Sorrento that we went back in our last night! It is tiny but worth the wait to get a table. We sat outside both times and enjoyed the experience of the Main Street area. It's a family owned restaurant and they take great pride in what they do.... The mixed salad is the best I've ever had. Do not hesitate to try this restaurant, especially the Tomatoes! I've been to several farmer's markets and never truly found great, tasty tomatoes, but when we went to Azz! I found what I've been missing. Hands down, the BEST Tomatoes I've ever eaten: fresh, savory, sweet, balanced, and incredibly flavorful! We ordered the Bruschetta and Caprese (see pictures). I apologize for the half-eaten Caprese picture. We were carried away with how good it was before I realized I hadn't taken a picture. Their menu included a good reminder (see picture); they take the time to prepare your meal, so if you're in a rush "...you are not in the right place." Omg! Ok - so we did have to wait an hour to get a table but - we would go back - that's how good it is!!! Lasagna and a glass of wine for 14€!!!! Delicious! And the wine pours are insane! We started with the bruschetta, which showcased delicious cherry tomatoes. We couldn't decide on our mains, so we went with pasta (penne and cannelloni) and shared their roasted chicken. The pastas were cooked perfectly, and the chicken was well-seasoned with a nice, crispy skin. Service was prompt. There was a short line, but it moved quickly, so make sure to arrive early. For our mains I had the Trofie allá Genovese (pesto pasta), my fiancé had the Spaghettini Al Pomodoro(with tagliatelle, since they were out of spaghetti), we split the meatballs and of course had the house red wine (which we ended up buying a bottle to take home) We we're so stuffed but made room for the chocolate mousse, it was rich, yet light and was the perfect size for us. Had a table for 5 where we enjoyed brushetta, with and without mozeralla and garlic bread. All was fresh and had the perfect blend of crunch and olive oil seasoning. For mains we had steak, gnocchi, two different types and chicken with sides of fries. All were fantastic with the tomato based gnocchi being the best.
