Expect to stand in line, but worth the wait. Friendly and family run service. The meatballs were so light and flavorful. Highly recommend! The Arribiatta had just the right amount of spice and the gnocchi was excellent. We saw many plates of lasagna being served and it looked delicious! Quaint interior and slightly intimate ambiance.
Was in Italy in September 2025. Azz! is located on the main street in Sorrento, Italy. If you happen to be visiting Sorrento for a few days and are not sure where to eat, this place is a MUST! The food is fresh, homemade, and made with care and love. The owner is really kind and made sure my parents and I were taken care of. There is a bit of a wait in line if you're going to have dinner here, and that really speaks to how good the food is here. I had the Parmesan Alfredo pasta, my mom had the Gnocchi (which I typically don't eat, but specific dish was just soooo delicious!) and my Dad had a fish dish of some sort that I can't remember. It was all really tasty and I wish I had taken a picture of the food! We were seated outside and the vibe makes you feel like you're eating a home cooked meal.
Azz! Is a small restaurant just off the main drag through the town of Sorrento, Italy. We'd heard a lot of positive things about the place, so we decided to go and check the place out for dinner. When we got there, we realized how small it was, and there was already a small line outside, waiting to be seated. It's rare that I'd line up for food, but I was on holiday and was keeping my initial chances of food in Sorrento high for quality. After a 15mins wait, myself and my two sons were seated. We browsed the menu, which was small but had decent variety. As we looked through the choices of food, a small dog was mulling around the restaurant. It had a sign on it, which said not to feed it (still not sure if it was the owners dog, or some rando off the street). My boys loved trying to get its attention as it passed near our table. In the menu, it pointed out that everything is cooked fresh, so there'll be a longer wait than most places. Please look elsewhere if you want something quick. I'd take that as a good sign. I ordered the Pappardelle ai Funghi Porchini, basically a very wide, thin pasta with a mushroom sauce. One of my boys ordered the Margherita pizza, the other a simple grilled chicken breast and side potatoes. I was surprised at the punch of the mushroom flavour of the sauce, and the pasta was cooked just right. I was very tasty. The son who ordered the Pizza, really enjoyed his, too. Coming to the end days of our trip, he recalled this as being the best pizza he had ever tasted We enjoyed Azz! so much, that we returned again a few days later. It was the only restaurant that we visited twice during our stay in Sorrento. The second time I tried the Penne all'Arrabbiata...which was tomatoey and spicy sauce with penne pasta. Another simple, but very tasty dish. I'd suggest getting there early in the day, say 3 or 4 for dinner, as it can get busy from 6pm onwards. Well worth a visit, and merits it's good scores and reviews.
Kick Azz food!!!! No but for real, we had the gnocchi, caprese salad and calabrese pizza...I wanted to lick eat plate clean! The food was full of flavor, not heavy at all. Rich, clean flavors! Love that it's a family owned business. The mom and daughter take orders and bring out food and the dad cooks. Oh and their cute dog is the best greeter! Loved eating here and will definitely be back for more!
We have been in Italy for 10 days and we have eaten some good Italian food but this was by far the best. I just had a simple penne and red arribiatta sauce but it was absolutely perfect. My little boy gave his chicken a 10 out of 10 and ate the entire thing which is unheard of. What an amazing meal!
My husband and I returned to Sorrento from a long day trip. We were tired and didn't have any reservations. We stumbled upon this quaint little restaurant that had seating indoors and outdoors. That sat us right away. We shared our meal because we had a big lunch in the Amalfi Coast. I ordered the Italian Vine tomato soup and it was delicious. The flavor of the tomatoes with the mixture of seasoning and cheese was just what I wanted. We shared the meatballs which were flavorful and tender. The sauce that covered them was absolutely wonderful. I ordered the Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe. The sauce was rich and delicious my husband had the lasagna and it was so good. Sometimes you can get lasagna and it's dry. Not this place! I would definitely come back to this place. The service was great and the restaurant was a great find.

The service here is despicable. Just read the responses to peoples reviews from the owner and you will see the way they treat their customers. I walked in with my family and ordered a desert and coffee which was on their menu. After finding out that that's all we were ordering she said we can't serve you. We had to get up and leave. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. To be asked to leave because as they said "This is a restaurant and you can't just get desert and coffee which is also on their menu". In other words you can't be there if you're not spending enough MONEY. Then after writing a review I get this response from the owner, and they have responded this way to several others who have not given a good rating. read more

Food is incredible. Made from scratch and limited seating so be patient, but worth any wait if you can. Best restaurant we tried in Italy, including in Rome. Bruschetta, meatballs, pizzas, and spaghetti all amazing. The menu has other great options if you're looking for something else. Can't recommend it enough! read more

Amazing food, ambiance, and experience. Family restaurant even with a little chihuahua buzzing around. Lasagna + "local red" only 17€, and everything top notch quality. I was drawn in by the energy from the street and long line growing behind me, but wasn't disappointed! Will be my first dinner stop next time I'm back in Sorrento. read more

Spent nearly two weeks in Italy from Venice to Tuscany and Roma - by far the best everything we had. Pizza was delicious (we had the Napoletana) and the pasta was awesome (got the gnocchi) - so good in fact, we forgot to snap pictures. I order a glass of wine to indulge my meal - super generous pour of their 4€ house red (see picture). Highly recommend. Service is warm and welcoming, food is reasonably priced and location is great. read more

It's true what they say about the wait - you may have to wait an hour at busy times but you might get lucky. Once seated service was great and the food too. Kids loved their pizzas and we had lasagne and house wine for €18 - very tasty & very reasonable price read more

Best lasagna of my life. Best food of our whole trip. It takes a little time, but they are transparent and tell you that in the menu. True local spot. Highly recommend - they have a line for a reason. Worth the wait read more

Adorable place on the main street of Sorrento. Love that it is family owned and operated (even had a Chihuahua Nino walking around greeting guests). Started with the meatballs as an appetizer (moist and delicious with great sauce), then the veal in a brown sauce (my husband's favorite meal of our entire trip), and the egg noodles with a mushroom sauce. Prices were reasonable and we loved our meal and the ambiance! Will definitely be back!! read more

This place is such a sweet surprise. I prefer higher protein meals, and Azz's Chicken thigh with roasted peppers hit the spot. A lovely family runs the restaurant, and their service was excellent. Today is a hot day, and they had seats inside with the AC on. I have not had luck with clean bathrooms in Italy; however, they are super clean. read more

This is by far the best restaurant we tried in Sorrento. The food was exceptional. The chef uses local fresh food and puts a lot of thought in his dishes. The pappardelle con funghi was amazing as well as the tomato soup. We ended up ordering more soup to go. The restaurant is small so get here early or you'll have a long wait. The line is long so plan accordingly. This is a family owned Taverna and everything is made with love and attention to detail. You won't be disappointed. Grazia Rosaria for an amazing dinner. There is a line but definitely worth it. We had the lasagne, cannelloni, spicy penne, and meatballs. Every meal was excellent. Also had the Margherita pizza and it was delicious. Highly recommended this place. One of the best restaurant in Sorrento. read more

THIS PLACE WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD! I never had food ever better than, Azz!I I HAVE NO WORDS for the service and the kindest service in the world we received. They're funny and really nice, and the chef even came over and checked up on us toward the end of our meal. I recommend getting the T-bone steak (: if you're a vegetarian I would recommend getting the rocket salad and pastas/ the lasaña is also homemade every day so you should definitely try it! Don't forget about their amazing dog, Nino. He is such a cute little dog! If I could rate this a 10,000,000 or higher I would, best restaurant ever! - Love Lucas. read more

This restaurant has amazing food!! I had the pasta while my fiancé had the ravioli. It tasted like heaven, especially paired with a delicious bottle of red wine. We've been up and down Italy trying food and this restaurant was the best place we've eaten at during our trip. The owners are so sweet and kind and the food is a MUST try! The people there were very kind. Lots of gelato or desert places around to go to after. I got the carbonara pizza which was extraordinare. My parents liked the wine and lasagna they said it was a great deal. I liked the food but you know who liked it more NINO! A sweet little chihuahua who is kinda fiesty. But overall it is a great time. read more
