This place is super cool. Love the decor and bombers. The inside is very nice the bartender was right on his game. He got our beers ordered and they were perfectly cold. I ordered a 1/2 dozen raw oysters and the fish and chips. He brought my oysters out very quickly. They were AWESOME ! The best part was the horseradish had a great kick too! The bar is downtown somewhere on the corner where it bridges the fancy downtown and all the cool shops ( if you know then you know). I've been here twice. The first time it was a stop for the hash run and the second time because we were shopping downtown. I heard the food was good but I got tacos before we stopped there. I might have to try the oysters next time. It seems like there's a story behind the name. They're literally right across from the Paseo Del Norte. It was pretty close the hotel, and getting here wasn't to bad, put the area is under construction, so I really couldn't see it . I parked on a side street, and got here about 9, on a Monday night. There were about 8 others here, with 4 playing darts, and a few at the bar with me. They had Oysters on special that night, so I ordered a half dozen, a nice Tito's, sat back and relaxed. I was realllly excited when I saw this place--they had me at oyster pub. The music was jamming from the outside. But I was soon disappointed. I really wanted and oyster shooter(I normally get these on the coast Louisiana, Alabama, Florida) I figured hey I'm only one state over should be right.. I was wrong. The oyster shooter here came with beer. I asked to change it out for vodka, they told me there would an up charge, I assumed the up charge was the totals price --nope it was $6 for the vodka I chose and another $2 for the oyster shot. I should have known the pricing was too good to be true. The oyster shot was interesting -- the cocktail sauce tasted more like hot sauce and the oysters were really crunchy! I've never had crunchy oysters. On top of that when I went to cash out the machines where down, they didn't know when they would be back up and they expected patrons to wait . Went with my friends last weekend. Samatha was our server.......I will never go back. We didn't have any food but we did have drinks. When we ordered me and my girlfriend got the same drinks on their special, the whole parties order was brought out fine but ours wasn't. When she came back we informed her she had only brought one when we ordered two(there was two of us still waiting on drinks...me and my girlfriend) When I told her that (we were kind, we always are, we are also in the service industry which is the reason I'm even taking time to do this review) she was SO ANNOYED. I don't understand the annoyance because she is the one that kept bringing first round wrong drinks, then second time she only brought one of the right one. She got MAD at us saying we are confusing. It was super rude. My friends and I are ALL in the industry and we were very kind to her, even after the incident. We decided to leave right after that and just closed tabs. Still tipped her because well, she brought the drinks even if she didn't want to and trust me, she made it known she didn't. It was a horrible experience and honestly I would never go back because of that. It was embarrassing to be talked to in that way and for genuinely no reason. Had she just said sorry she messed up and would bring the right ones or something in that manner it would have been totally fine. But no, she was an awful server took a long time anyways. The baked oysters were the best part, other than the fries lol. Would I eat here again? The salsa has oil and a lot of cilantro. Spiciness just right - it was delicious. Had crawfish tail and baked oysters. Crawfish especially was very tasty. Great things going on here. It is very hard to find great oysters in this dry never ending desert we call home. Therefore please do not expect anything different from this place. Do not get me wrong though, other than the puny size, the oysters on a half shell were well shucked and did taste fresh. My wife and I love trying wings wherever we go. Our preference is naked wings but were informed at B-17 they only come breaded. This tells me one thing: Frozen already prepared wings. Although this is an oyster bar, wings should be a staple to master if you offer bar food. Please pass on the wings if you come. I had the fish and chips which came out pipping hot and satisfyingly delicious. It was a nice change to have. They do have a full bar and great selection of craft beers bottled and draught. Our server Daniel was humorous, attentive and fast! Everything I love about hospitality. You will have a good time and meal if you don't come in comparing this to something you ate on the east coast.
