This is a smaller antique shop right off atlantic, in Bixby Knowls. There are a lot of really nice antiques here. Things that look like genuine antiques, books, cool items like jewelry and globes and cameras. The staff was friendly and welcomed me and I looked around for a while but didn't find anything I was looking for however, you might find something really cool here, definitely worth a look. The only issue is parking as Atlantic is a very busy street, so you might have to park in the neighborhood or the parking lot across the way. read more

Brent the owner was a real pleasure to work with. I came into his store with a few Asian artifacts that I found that I wanted to get appraised and possibly more info on to sell. I walked in to his store and he greeted my party quickly and attentively. His store is packed beautifully with antiques and it's amazing how I walked around in it without bumping into anything. Unfortunately the artifacts that I had were not Brent's expertise and even using our phones to try and do research on the spot together, it didn't work out. I really appreciated his honesty with me front the get go, as that's all I could really ask for! I went in looking for tobacco pipes, and oh boy did I go to right place. Brent is a collector of pipes and has many for sale at his store. He was very knowledgeable in that area and I learned a lot! I was so amazed by the owner how knowledgeable and his collections! Yes this is a perfect place for authentic historian collectors! I was lucky enough to found a female pocket watch that I've been looking for from 1840's possibly. Based on the Roman numeral and the hallmarks are from British. There is wear and tears but I still love it! It's like shopping travel back in time! I would say this place it's addictive. Everywhere you look you find something with history and age. We're both suckers for ancient Egypt so you can imagine our delight when we stumbled across turn of the centuries postcards from the pyramids. Everything in this store will capture your attention. I have been collecting antiques for over 40 years, and for 16 of them, I had my own store. Now that I am retired, I need to limit what I buy, and therefore, I am very picky. Gilt Complex is one of my favorite antique stores, and I drive 40 miles each way in order to shop there. The quality and selection are among the top in the Los Angeles area, but more important to me is that most of their objects look as they had a past life in an old English country manor. The store is run by a husband and wife team, and the son works if one of them can't be there. Prices are very fair for the quality. I have a hard time visiting without purchasing at least one new treasure. read more
