Not sure if that was Leslie working or just another worker but she made it clear that she didn't want black people in her business. She apologized to another shopper for me walking into an open business with my uncle looking for specific items. She then repeatedly refused service verbally stating how uncomfortable she was with us in the business in general. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE OF COLOR! First all don't lie to the people that ask you for help. I asked the guy where the nearest consignment location was and he gave me an address that was 25 minute walk. Leslie's is a great little store that on my first visit today won me over and got itself added to my permanent Los Angeles-area vintage shopping rotation (along with nearby Magnolia and Willow). Everywhere I turned I was surprised at the reasonable prices. One example is the linens, which were priced at about half of what I've seen elsewhere. The store is tidy and thoughtfully arranged. The overall feel for me is 70s, but there are definitely other decades represented. I chose an unusual jewelry box with embossed, sliding lids, and a bright orange velvet pillow that was so sweet and cheery that I just had to have it. I think it speaks volumes that my mom, brother, and I all loved the store equally despite having different tastes and spanning 33 years in age. Each of us found things we couldn't resist, and it was unanimous that we would return again and again. read more

OMG. I randomly went into this shop today... Everywhere I looked there was amazing treasures. So many great must-have items that I'd never seen before. And that's saying a lot because I used to own an antique shop for over a decade! ANd even better yet, the prices were to good to be true. After I already picked out n3-4 things, the guy told me they were having their yearly sale & that everything was 50% off! Holy Sh!t! So, I bought even more things! Leslie's is a spot to frequent because the product cycles!! I have to take my out-of-town guests in there. We have purchased all kinds of things from here; antique cookware, a petticoat, jewelry, a sterling coffee carafe holder (with the carafe), and a few records! So many other small things I can't remember them all. In fact, I made a request for a record and the next time I was in Leslie had it stowed away for me!! There's also really fun furniture pieces in her store, lamps, mirrors, clocks... There was a set of chairs in her store a couple years back that I kick myself to this day for not snagging!! I bought a Neil the frog container set and a couple of them had chips and Leslie was very sweet and gave me a discounted price on them. Have to agree with the reviewer before me - Leslie has something for everyone but did she have to tempt us like she did?! Absolutely beautiful things and a friendly, helpful owner to help us to decide on our treasures. The store didn't open on time but we made a effort and came back later -- well worth it!! She knows we are interested in estate jewelry and she wrote down our emails and phone numbers to keep us informed on future bargains - it would be worth the trip back. Ive been shopping at Leslies for over 10 years and am amazed at the cool stuff she has. Her store is well layed out with a balance of large items and smalls with a great selection of vintage jewelry; with a lot of sterling pieces. The store is not crowded with junk but displayed so you can see what she has. I live 450 miles away and every time I come to southern Cal I make sure to pay a visit.
