THE Best choice for Mercedes brakes and other maintenance and repairs!!!…read more Great family business the was founded 58 years ago. All the brothers work hands on as well as other excellent mechanics and characters with great personalities. They got me in and well taken care of with a smile and a few laughs later. I asked around Fox Lake and Fred's Auto Service have the best reputation for being HONEST, FAIR and are the best shop I have found in years!!! Usually when you drive into a service shop with a Mercedes they automatically try to bend you over and give it to you dry . I'm not talking about a " lube " service either . Rich and the guys treated me right and were very very fair on their price. They even have donuts and hot coffee for their customers. Old school guys and old school ideas on providing great mechanical work done and a good price. A rock solid family business is hard to find these days. Roll in and give them your business. You will become a loyal customer just like me. If I need anything done on my car, I am going to drive in (as soon as the donuts are delivered) and enjoy my time knowing my car is fixed right.. Was told to get an estimate for the damage he caused . Was told to get it fixed and he will reimburse me. I am beyond disappointed with Fred's Service. Horrible customer service. Come to find out Tony hit someone's Camero in the lot with my car. I didn't get a " Sorry" or " Let's work things out" It was more like " I Dont Care " Tony kept saying " I Don't care" I have it all on video. He got paid $550 for his work and now I have a car that is damaged. There is no way I am going to trust Fred's Service to reimburse me or Tony. I got a police report and I'm getting 2 more estimates and I guess this will have to be settled in small claims court because I do not want to even deal with this place or Tony. i can't believe how I was treated. He seriously did not care if I had to run around and get3 estimates or not have a car to go to my doctor appointments or my volunteer ministry. I treat people with respect and I am honest and fair. There is no honesty at this business. I have been working with a car dealership since last Friday to trade in my Chevy Taxx . Won't happen now with this damage .

After he came highly referred, I decided to trust him with my car, and it was one of the worst decisions I've ever made. The whole experience was a disaster from start to finish, and I strongly advise anyone considering his shop to stay far away. Initially, Dan provided me with a quote of around $10,000 for the work needed, which he said would not exceed $12,500. This included approximately $6,000 in parts and 20-25 hours of labor. We agreed on those terms, and I gave him $5,000 down to get started. Months passed with no communication, and I finally had to reach out to see what was happening. All communication came from me reaching out to him. He gave me the runaround about waiting on parts like hoses, claiming that was the reason for the delay. This pattern of excuses continued for several months. Every time I checked in, there was always something else he was "waiting on." It was only after nearly a year of him having my car that I went to his shop myself to check on the status. To my dismay, the car was still in pieces and nothing significant had been done. Nevertheless, he insisted he needed more money to finish the job, and trusting him once more, I gave him another $5,000--thinking we were near the end of this ordeal. Months later, the car was still not finished. Each time I called, it was the same story: "waiting on this part, waiting on that part." All the while, my $10,000 was gone, and I had nothing to show for it. By this point, I realized Dan was in way over his head, or taking advantage of me. I told him to stop working on the car altogether and that I would come to pick it up on a specific date. I just wanted my vehicle back and was willing to cut my losses at $10,000. The night before I was scheduled to pick up the car, I called Dan to confirm it was ready to go. That's when he dropped a bombshell. He told me there was still a balance on my account, and if I used a credit card, there would be an 8% fee. Confused, I asked him how there could possibly be a balance when he hadn't even finished the car. He casually mentioned that I owed him another almost $4,000.00. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Not only had he not finished my car, but he had tacked on nearly $4,000 more to the bill, knowing full well I was coming the next day to retrieve my vehicle. This was clearly a tactic to squeeze more money out of me and prevent me from taking my car. Dan claimed he still needed a couple more days to finish the car--something I never even asked for, as I had already made it clear I was done with him. Not only did he go over the $12,500 maximum we agreed on, but he charged me for labor hours that far exceeded what he initially quoted. According to him, he gave me a deal on the labor rate, even though the hours were three times what we had agreed on, and he somehow tracked these labor hours over two years with absolutely no accountability. This whole ordeal reeks of mismanagement and deception. It's hard to believe that he racked up that many labor hours on a job that should have been straightforward maintenance. This wasn't an engine rebuild; it was basic work like brakes, hoses, and carburetor rebuild. I'm out $14,000 and had to deal with two years of endless delays, excuses, and dishonesty. Dan clearly took my $10,000 upfront, squandered the time, and then tried to charge me thousands more to finish a job that was never properly managed in the first place. Coventry Classics held my vehicle hostage because of Dan's inability to run his business responsibly. I wouldn't trust him to touch another car, let alone recommend him to anyone else. Save yourself the nightmare and take your Jaguar or any other car anywhere else but Coventry Classics. This experience has been nothing short of a disaster.

Each and every time I have received not only excellent & friendly service, but answers and help I can TRUST! Trust in a repair shop, for me, is the most important aspect. I don't expect the bathrooms to be clean or the waiting area to be comfortable (though they ARE!) I need to be able to trust the people telling me what is wrong, how much it will cost & what my options are. I need to trust that when I make the decision I will not only be paying a reasonable amount (which is all I ask) but that I will also be safe on the road. Denny & Michelle consistently deliver just that. I am now able to say with the utmost confidence... "I have a great mechanic. Would you like his number?" What a relief!

WHAT!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! Took my car to someone else removed the zip ties and fixed whatever they broke for 80.00. Yes 80.00. The part that broke was only 14.00 I will never ever ever go there or tell anybody else. And each time they had my car for about 4 days always making excuses. Denny may be a nice guy but I can't believe he had me leave there with plastic zip ties holding parts together in a hot engine. And on top of that when I went to take it to the place that fixed it when I started it, it sounded terrible. BEWARE!!!!!!
