Kept car an insane length of time did not reach out to keep me posted. and it wasn't even fixed when they gave it back to me. Well I didn't know anyone else and brought the car back so they would fix it. It cost more than $600 each time for a total greater than $1200 and they still hadn't fixed it.... Fantastic experience struggling with a blown tire on I 294 involving our travel trailer. We tried repeatedly to get our Good Sam membership to help with tire repairs. Hour after hour of calls to them were fruitless as they failed to engage any towing service to help. The IL state police stopped by to help, and gave a referral to Antioch Towing. I would give 10 star for their persistence in helping, and arranging for a tow. They eventually determined that a simple exchange of the spare and the blown tire would work best. They stayed to ensure that we were hooked up properly before they needed to leave for another emergency. On top of that, they called to make sure we got to our destination in good stead. Really, really crappy service, everytime the lady at the front picks up the phone she has a nasty tone of voice and is not helpful whatsoever. Service department and the whole department is general did not give me an estimate or tell me that there's a holding fee, my car has been there for weeks and I can never seem to get ahold of the service department. They say they will call me back but they never end up doing so. I have to call them constantly just to know what's going on with my car. Never going back to this place as they're super unprofessional and shady. Also they wanted 150$ just for holding it and didn't tell me until I told them I'm towing (different towing company) it back to my house. read more

Having your car stranded where you don't live in the middle of the night is---AACK!! AAA motor club couldn't even get their own contracted towing services to answer their phone calls, much less come rescue my car. AAA paid Antioch Towing Service to come get me. I never heard of them before Tuesday night. But OMG!! I wish I had found them myself. They did in 90 minutes what AAA could NOT do in 4 1/2 hours!! There was one big, tall Teddybear guy named Tyler (LAWD HAM MERCY) who came to save me!! He works the overnight shift so you'll only be lucky to get him if you are stranded real late at night. When I saw him I was extremely giddy & told him how I was SO glad to see him. I have NEVER NEVER NEVER in 500 years had a towing driver as great as he is (and unless I get TylerBear again I most likely will never ever again). He IS A+++ guy--even this is not enough to sum up how wonderful he & the services are. He IMMEDIATELY met me with a smile!! He asked what was wrong, I told him, then he got rockin!! He explained to me the deal with AAA late at night (so he taught me something too). After 10 minutes (yah, 10 minutes), TylerBear had my car on the flat bed, me smiled & told me he had this & to not worry anymore. I was sleepy & not put together but he understood. I gave him the keys, we said night night to each other & I saw him turn the corner and that was it!! How kewl is this?? Total professionalism/empathy/sympathy. The towing services that AAA are contracted with NEEDS to take lessons from TylerBear & Antioch towing so they can see how it should be done. HE is the standard by what all tow truck drivers should live/work by. Antioch Towing ALSO has a repair shop too, so if you don't have a regular mechanic & you freak out/fall apart easily (like I always do) you SERIOUSLY NEED to let them tow your car & have them fix it so everything is done under one roof. So when you break down at any time (especially in the middle of the night), call the super duper ultra fabulous Antioch Dispatch & they will send you TylerBear. Well! I now have *two* places to meet my automotive needs! I originally got Antioch Auto from my insurance company as a place to change my tire. My tire was still drivable, so I figured, why should one of them have to drive to me, when I could drive to them, and they could put on new tires? As a definite morning person (5 AM most days), I drove on down, just below the "Illinois State Line" sign on Route 83. I had to wait, because it was Saturday and they open a little later. But OH OH.OH! I got to wait in a HUGE waiting room. There was water and coffee, a TV, plenty of space to get in my doctor prescribed steps, even a guitar should I be inclined to strum (I'm not *that* much of an early bird). But I got to be in the same room with one of the stunt Batmobiles!!!! As a kid, I enjoyed the 1960s TV show, and had a huge crush on Adam West. So it was a real privilege. When the mechanic came in, turns out it was only a screw causing a slow leak. My tire was repaired, great price! Yes, I will be back. The Batmobile is a good draw, but the friendly, hospitable service will keep me going to Antioch Auto. read more

I guess the one star warrants the work getting done and Rachel-the one person who was helpful-but the customer service is outrageous. I have never had to call a shop so much just to know what was going on with what started as a simple estimate for my vehicle. I dropped my vehicle off Tuesday at around 8 am, and here I am, writing this review Thursday afternoon. I was called for the first time since my car was dropped off today letting me know that it is ready because I had to call Tuesday an hour before they closed to just get a PRICE. Jim hadn't even taken a look at it yet and he told me he'd call back in a A FEW MINUTES with a price, which he did... So it only took a few minutes for an estimate but I went without a car all day long??? One of the two issues I wanted an estimate for would take longer according to him, so he said he'd call me to let me know if he'd have the time to do it once he was finished with the exhaust. I agreed to the service, arranged a ride, and waited to hear back. Wednesday, again, and an hour before closing I called TWICE to double confirm that my car will be ready that night since he just gave me the same vague spiel about how the 2nd issue would take more time because he would have to open it up and what not. I wanted an estimate, not a quote. He proceeds to tell me that he will "get started on it now", and that it would be done so I could drive to my early morning job. So, my car had gone another day untouched... when I could've been using it and waiting for some real help. I get distracted, expecting these people to do their job and give me a call. It's 8 pm Wednesday night and I realize I never got a phone call. A nice man named Tyler answered, told me that the automotive shop had closed and that they're only open for towing, but he did just see a guy named TJ working on my car. There was no other way for me to get to work and I had to call in. Around 10 am Thursday Jim called me telling me that he was done working on my car, all nonchalant. I mentioned the lack of at least a courtesy call and asked to be compensated for the inconvenience because I had no way to get to work. He says his father in law passed Wednesday night and he had to run out. His exact words were: "My father-in-law dies and you want me to reimburse YOU? In today's world with Ubers and such-"... Listen, I get it... Things happen, life sucks-but you mean to tell me that there was nobody else in the shop that you could tell to GIVE ME A CALL before you ran out??? IN TODAY'S WORLD??? I figured I'd deal with it at the shop. I'm greeted by the same face I saw on Tuesday, Elizabeth, just as chipper. I don't match that energy this time, and she played it off like she didn't know why. As she hands me the receipt to sign and as I'm looking at the price, she asks me if there was a problem with the service. I begin to explain to her, and before I could get what felt like a one sentence out, she blurts out "in 2023 people can't get ubers?!", to which I said "ma'am, I am a student, I set aside money for this-" and without knowing anything about my situation. she goes "Your parents don't have money to give you for an uber??" At this point, my blood pressure was up, so I'm sure I asked if she was f****** kidding. She goes "OH YOU WANNA RAISE YOUR VOICE WITH ME??? NUH-UH", goes to the phone and calls Rachel, who was very nice. She came to the front and diffused the situation as Elizabeth keeps bickering with me, and it turns out she and I had actually spoken on the phone on Wednesday. She told me neither Jim nor TJ were working on my car... so that doesn't add up. She then tells me about a few deaths in the family, as we all deal with, and how busy they've been lately. She didn't realize I wasn't even given a phone call, and gave me a discount for my inconvenience. I am so blessed that Rachel took the time to listen to me and that I was compensated, but it looks like I'll be taking my vehicle elsewhere for the other issue. This wouldn't have happened had I received a simple phone call, which is the easiest thing to do in today's world, Jim. Here's a few notes: -WORK ON YOUR COMMUNICATION AS A SHOP. IT'S YOUR JOB-CUSTOMER SERVICE IS YOUR JOB. YOU ARE SERVICING MY VEHICLE. COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS. STAFF NEEDS TRAINING IN CUSTOMER SERVICE (EX. ELIZABETH) -DO NOT TAKE A CAR IF YOU CANNOT COMPLETE THE JOB IN A TIMELY MANNER-My car sat in the lot on day one for a simple estimate until nearly closing and my call reminded you to do the five minute job I had asked for, and then sat in the lot for a whole extra day untouched until I called again on day two. If you're too busy, why bother? I could be using my vehicle. -Death is not something that we can predict, and my deepest sympathies go out to the family in mourning. Needed a tow. Called in at 12:00pm. Was given an ETA of 1:45pm. 2pm comes around and I still haven't heard from Antioch Automotive nor did I get any updates on their ETA. I called in and they said their tow driver is on the way to another tow, she said it could be another 45 mins. 3pm rolls by and still no updates. I called and they said "our driver got detained. It could be another 45 minutes". At this point, their new ETA is 4pm. That's 4 hours of waiting, with no updates from this company. I had to call in 2 times to get updated ETA or even any updates on it taking longer. It would have been nice to get updated on the time as a courtesy heads up. But they didn't even bother giving me any updates. This is poor customer service, and I hope no other future customer of theirs gets treated this way. After waiting for AAA for three hours to send a tow service, needless to say I was upset and stressed, after my car broke down. I was about to give up when John Ray called from Antioch Automotive. He instantly reassured me, said exactly how long it would take for him to arrive (not the additional hour AAA quoted), recommended staying in my car, as the area was a little dicey, and set me at ease. After towing me from IL to the dealership in WI, he helped me find the lock box for the keys (after hours) at the dealership and offered to drive me home (so that my husband did not need to make the trip with our daughter, past her bedtime). It was an additional kindness that was not necessary and much appreciated. When in a situation like that, kindness means everything. I wish we lived closer, so I could give them more of our business. read more

Let's put it this way.....I've been going to Antioch Automotive for years with all my vehicles and so has my family, neighbors and friends. Outstanding service and people that work there. They're not going to rip you off. If they tell you it's not worth fixing then you better believe them. If you're short on money, they'll do their best to work with you. I can go on an on but their service speaks for itself. My 2003 Lincoln Navigator has been taken apart by them and put back together without missing a beat. NB Arrangements for Antioch Automotive were made via my insurance carrier, but their service was so good I felt it appropriate to leave a good review for them The truck arrived very quickly, well before I expected them; the driver didn't waste any time, and was able to start Hudson within a few minutes! NB Hudson is my motorcar He then stayed with me, and had me drive 'around the block' a few times to ensure Hudson would continue running, and that I could get my work done. He really was attentive and I really appreciated this. If you're living through this northern Illinois winter, you will absolutely understand how hard a job it is, for towing services; the weather has been awful. Had to get a tow back to my house since my alternator died. Only 4 degrees outside. I was trying to get a ride back and had to have my girlfriend come out there to wait with me. Was given a 60 min ETA. I called at 45 min and the driver told me that he decided to move another driver in front of my spot in the rotation and now I'd have to wait an additional 45 minutes... leaving me to argue with the cops to not force their own tow drivers on me which would have ended up causing me to pay who knows how much and they would not even take it to the same destination I had in mind. Regardless of the situation, I should have been at least notified or asked (ideally) about if that would be okay to leave my car longer in the side of the road. My family has been going to Antioch Automotive for years and always preached about it. I decided when having problems with my car I would take it there. The first issue I had them look at they gave a description of what they needed to do and said how much and if they would have time for a couple other things on the car. While getting the quotes for the parts and repairs the man on the phone was rude and condescending when it came to the repairs I was enquiring about and never got back to me on the prices. My father would later get on the phone and described a specific issue with the car that wasn't clear at first so that they would be able to find the issue and fix it properly after I told them to do the repairs. They said yes and then when I talked to them on the Saturday after (they had had the car for 3 days) they said they had done the three other repairs besides for the one that I originally had intended on them doing. They said at that point that I had told them not to do it and on top of that, that it was an issue that would take some time. I told them that I had not told them to not do the repair and asked them if they could still get to the issue. On Monday I hadn't heard from them and called them to ask how things were going with the final big issue and was told again, by someone else, that it would take time, I told them they had had the car for 5 days and I need it back, not to mention if it was going to take days more they should have told me before hand. Then I expressed my concerns about all the miscommunications that had happened while the man I talked to was condescending back to me. The issue was one that would take a long time but not something that is necessary, if they didn't have time for it I could have brought it back at a later date. The man on the phone was very impatient and rude to me and I told him I would call him back. After thinking on it I called them back, told them not to worry about any more work on it and went straight over to pick it up. The repairs were cheap but when I arrived at the shop the man i had talked on the phone with said he had talked with the other people in the shop and that my father had told them not to do the original repair. Which is absolutely not the case and I decided I wouldn't give them too bad of a rep because they were semi apologetic for the miscommunication Just now I was having my car towed through my insurance and the first time they showed up was 3 minutes after I got a notification saying they would be there in twenty. When I didn't immediately answer my phone, though I called back a minute later, they left my house and I had to reschedule the tow. They told me a time and I had to call my insurance and they showed up 30 minutes late. It was a 2 hour ordeal and they ends up not even sending their own vehicle because I was so fed up my insurance found someone else. We got the car to the shop within 20 minutes of closing. read more

Looking for a stand up place to get your vehicle fixed in the Antioch/Lake Villa area? Well, look no further than Antioch Automotive off Rt 83 in Antioch. Long story short: I took plenty of classes back in the day for automotive repair and service. I know the ins and outs of a car, possible problems, symptoms, and probable cost of repairs involved. So I definitely know when someone is "blowing smoke" so to speak. I mostly do my own maintenance on my vehicles and I have never been comfortable taking my cars just anywhere. This time out I had a hard to diagnose noise coming from the front end suspension of my vehicle. We typically use a shop in Wauconda, IL (Automotive Repair Services) for our auto needs, but due to the circumstances (time crunch) involved, I had to find a facility locally to look at my vehicle. I asked around and researched online-everyone seemed to have many positive to say about Antioch Automotive. The good news is that they all seem to be true! Now getting back to my "issue", I had fear and $uspicion$ of what it could be and was definitely not looking forward to the outcome and e$timated repair bill. Throughout the process AA kept me posted on what they were doing, and what they ended up finding. It took a little bit of time but they isolated the issue and it was something that ended up costing me a fraction of what I was expecting. It could be said that In situations such as this, the shop could very well say it was what I thought it was going to be, and replace unnecessary items (esp when you take into account the mileage of my vehicle) But not these guys! They played it straight and to the point. (Thank you AA!) AA is polite, courteous, honest, and affordable. What more could you want? It's a nice little place with plenty of water and hot coffee in the waiting room. Honestly, my only complaint is the gravel parking lot which can be a bit bumpy in spots but all in all I'm pleased and I highly recommend this place!! Hopefully I won't have any future issues but it's nice to know we have such a good service shop in the area. read more

I recently had a flat. With very little money, I thought it would be impossible to find an affordable tire. So I called around and Antioch Automotive said they had tires that were used. I had just filled my car up with fix a flat and it did not work. So I took the old tire off and took it too Antioch automotive. Not only did I get a great tire but it only cost me 30 bucks. At me for getting that I put fix a flat in the tire he also has to clean the rim of it was very polite about having to do that and didn't even charge me. I will definitely take my truck here if I have a problem because they are honest mechanic is one of the hardest things in the world find. read more
