Any other place would just replace it and try to sell me 3 more! My dad once got a crazy estimate on his car and we brought it to American auto. He didn't need half the work and the price was less than 1/3 of the quote he had gotten. I very highly recommend them. They play the long game in business and are not out for the quick buck. Hence they have the loyalty of our entire family! Again, highly recommend them!

Your choice really is to either pay for the diagnostic or pay them for the parts and labor. When talking to the owner/mechanic he informed him he thought the starter needed to be replaced. The next day the owner called saying that he changed the starter, and burned it up while trying to start the vehicle. He also tried with a crowbar to turn the engine and it wouldn't turn, that it was metal on metal and locked up. So he diagnosed the engine was ceased up. He wanted us to give him the title so that he could scrap the car in payment for the work and time he had put into the car. My husband said he needed a day or so to decide. I talked to a mechanic friend of mine, and he was interested in the vehicle as he has a good motor that he can install in my vehicle. So we told my friend he could have it as long as he worked out a payment with L & S for the work that they had done. I turned in the plates, so that I could take the insurance off the vehicle. Several days later my friend towed the vehicle to a work area, and on inspecting it found the starter to never having been touched. He also grabbed the main serpentine belt and turned the engine over one revolution, by hand. He proceeded to install a new starter, and the engine started right up and has been working perfectly fine since. This shop has two certified experienced professional mechanics. Either this shop is the most incompetent ever, or they are committing fraud and possible theft by deception. I recommend everyone stay away from this place.

We initially were made aware of Nerger's from Costco after purchasing new tires there. We have always trusted those businesses affiliated with Costco since they vet them all pretty well. Therefore we made an appointment and asked them to conduct an extensive review of our Rogue. Our dealer had just given us an estimate and it seemed too steep in price. We took the car to Nerger's and had them balance and align the car with its new tires, we had them do the work they uncovered that needed to be done, including fixing some poor workmanship that the dealer had performed earlier in the year. All of this work was done and it didn't cost as much as the dealer would have done which was less work. Beyond all this, they provided personal transportation back to my house since it would require an overnight to receive the parts (no extra charge). The bottom line is that we found a reliable repair shop for our vehicles and have been talking them up to our friends.

This is from personal experience!! My car was in an accident. They towed it to their lot ($85 + $25 per day storage). Then they wanted $300 to tow it 50 miles. I found someone to do it for $175. I call to pay them with a credit card because I am stuck at home with no car and they tell me they only take cash for towing. I have no car so how I am I supposed to pay cash?? They take credit card for repairs!! This was on a Friday so no doubt their hope was I wouldn't get the car and then I would have had to pay them another $75 for weekend storage (Sat, Sun & Mon). This business owner has no SCRUPLES or ETHICS!! If they do this to someone in my situation imagine what they will do to you. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
