$1,000 exhaust repair estimate for $50 in parts (flex pipe, short header pipe & gaskets at Auto Zone) plus 1-2 hours (max) labor to cut and weld. Waited there almost an hour for the estimate - wouldn't verbally tell me the price, but emailed and texted pics. No price, just a link to "proceed with the work". Had to push for the price, which could only be viewed on her computer. Had the repairs done at a shop nearby for $300. read more

Fantastic. Strong technically and equally as important, strong customer service. I felt like I was part of the family! Kudo's to the team, Brian, Shannon, Tony, and Scott. We initially were made aware of Nerger's from Costco after purchasing new tires there. We have always trusted those businesses affiliated with Costco since they vet them all pretty well. Therefore we made an appointment and asked them to conduct an extensive review of our Rogue. Our dealer had just given us an estimate and it seemed too steep in price. We took the car to Nerger's and had them balance and align the car with its new tires, we had them do the work they uncovered that needed to be done, including fixing some poor workmanship that the dealer had performed earlier in the year. All of this work was done and it didn't cost as much as the dealer would have done which was less work. Beyond all this, they provided personal transportation back to my house since it would require an overnight to receive the parts (no extra charge). Just like the other posts say this place is a complete rip off. I'm 18 and took my car here because I had a check engine light on, I wish I read the reviews before hand because it would've saved me $255. Told me it would cost $1,400+ to fix the check engine light and charged me $255 for a diagnosis. Parents were not happy I spent $255 (lady said $68 over the phone) for only a diagnosis when they know places that do it for free. Almost every other service they tried up selling me on was cheaper somewhere else. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I had an urgent issue with my BMW and took it here to get it diagnosed and fixed. Brian was extremely helpful in determining what the underlying issues were and he even gave me a ride home while giving the car a test drive. He was extremely nice and easy to talk to! I felt very comfortable in his presence and I genuinely felt that he cared about my car getting fixed. On another note, Shannon was also extremely helpful over the phone and dealt with the pricing and costs of various things, such as the diagnosis and labor. She answered any questions I had and even gave me the choice on whether or not I wanted to continue with the fixation after providing the costs. I was told to come to this location on Friday because the Service Manager Tony promised that he could do the repairs needed on the vehicle for no more than $2k-3k when the vehicle was towed to the shop after anti freeze ran low. He then called on Monday when they performed a diagnostic stating he would put a used engine in my 2014 mini countrymen that had no prior issues for $6,000. When I asked to take my car out of shop ,after calling ahead that same day and being told I could I arrived to hear there was still equipment attached to my vehicle and that I could not pay or take my car (day 8). Tony then asked to purchase my vehicle for a couple grand (the many he quoted for original repair)then I called on Monday as they requested to find that they could take my payment for the diagnostic over the phone, and that I could have the car towed. I requested 6 tows this day bc Nerger's cancelled all tows stating they could repair vehicle and then they called my friend who is doing the repair for the vehicle asking if they wanted buy my car and stating engine is not repairable. Not only were they dishonest the service manager took liberties to stick his nose in other shop that does honest work. Do not waste your time or money's Triple A is doing a full investigation of this location and I am reporting them to the Attorney General as well. Horrible experience no progress and completely dishonest will follow up with results from investigation. Don't get yourself stuck in this web go to an honest shop. read more

I brought my car to Nerger's after I started hearing a weird noise while driving. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was different from any other shop I'd ever visited. Everyone I spoke to was really thorough, asking lots of questions, and it made me feel like they really cared about me and my car. I was about to order a Lyft to take me to work (about 17 miles away), but the staff insisted that someone would take me and it was no problem. I was floored. A few hours later, I received an inspection report via text, spoke to a mechanic on the phone, and we made a plan for fixing the problems. I never felt pressured or rushed into making a certain decision and my mechanic answered all my questions. Less than 36 hours from when I'd brought my car in, it was ready to go. A week later, I received both a follow-up call via phone and a thank you card in the mail (with a scratch-off ticket inside). As a woman, I'm often hypervigilant when taking my car in for service - on more than one occasion, it's felt like I'm being talked into unnecessary and expensive repairs because I don't know much about cars. I never felt that way at Nerger's. I'm a customer for life. read more

DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR CAR HERE! I brought my car here to get my transmission fixed and paid the ultimate price, literally and figuratively speaking. At first glance, everything at this shop seems professional -- especially after speaking with their customer sales representative, Adnan, who will tell you everything you want to hear in the nicest and friendliest way possible. But, don't be fooled. These people have absolutely no idea what they are doing and are just trying to con you for as much money as humanely possible. After several conversations with Adnan, I was being reassured I was receiving a remanufactured transmission from the dealership for my car. Most transmission shops can rebuild regular automatic transmission units -- however, my car has a CVT transmission, and once those go, they cannot be rebuilt because of reliability issues and such. After my car was finished being repaired, I brought it up to another credible auto shop because Nerger's had recommended nearly another $1,000 of additional repairs on top of the $3,500 I had just paid for the transmission, so I figured I would finally make the trip (all the way to another state), because something just didn't seem right. This mechanic -- being ASE-certified -- by just looking at the transmission, told me that not only was it replaced with a used, rebuilt unit from a junkyard, but that it had been spray painted to look like one that had come from a dealership. Nothing I would've known, being a regular customer and not an experienced mechanic, but something a mechanic could just tell by looking at it. After learning I had just basically been screwed over, I calmly went down to the Nerger's to ask for the original parts invoice (which is a copy of the parts order sheet that every auto body shop is required to keep, which details every part they order when they fix your car -- WHICH YOU ARE ENTITLED TO SEE) to see where my transmission came from. And, that's where I learned exactly how I got screwed. Not only was my transmission job a sublet job -- IT WASN'T EVEN COMPLETED THERE; THEY DON'T EVEN COMPLETE THEIR OWN TRANSMISSION JOBS WITH THEIR MECHANICS; THEY SUB THEM OUT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP IN FORDS, NJ -- but they only paid $2,500 for the transmission and labor and made off with $1,000 profit for just making a phone call. When I confronted them about this, Adnan acted like he didn't know anything at all, and then tried to make everything "better" by introducing me to the owner, Brian Nerger. Brian, who didn't even know when my car was fixed -- he thought it was fixed sometime last year or two years ago (lol, talk about customer service) -- continued to deny my allegations and treat me so unprofessionally and without an ounce of respect. They also recommended that I get all new brakes -- had them checked and I still had 70% life, didn't need them done for another couple thousand miles. When I was getting my car fixed, they told me that I needed a new battery since they had to jump my car, but when I talked to the mechanic, he most likely said they left my car on or a light on, because I had the mechanic test it and then I brought it to Advanced Auto Parts and had them test it as well -- and it tested over the normal voltage that it was supposed to (another faulty recommendation). Another recommendation they made was to replace my entire oil cooler system because it was apparently leaking, and after having it looked at, it only needed a small part replaced, which ended up costing me $30 compared to the $375 job. And, they wanted me to doll out all of this after just paying $3,500 for a botched transmission job -- go figure. Prior to calling Nerger's, I called around to several local auto shops, who had comparable prices to repair my transmission, who were only quoting me about $500 more than Nerger's. I ultimately decided to go with Nerger's, in part, due to Adnan's seemingly friendly and trustworthy personality (who is one of the biggest snakes in there, next to the owner), as well as the bit of cost savings. But, the entire reason I wasted time out of my day writing this review was to save anyone the current trouble and situation I am in -- worrying every day if this transmission that is currently in my car will die today, tomorrow or next week. I was completely taken advantage of by the entire staff at this unprofessional establishment, which shouldn't even be in business. And, I can't do anything about it. Go to R&R Auto down the road -- MUCH MORE RELIABLE. Save yourself the future and potential trouble. read more

This was never done and the mechanic decided to not speak with me directly to start ripping out the console/dash board until I had to ask 3 hours later. Nerger's Auto is the best place around by a long shot. I own a 1999 Ford E250 Van and the check engine light and ABS light has been on for years. I took it to numerous place through the years and no one could figure out or diagnose the problem and said its probably a computer glitch including the FORD DEALER! I was recommended by a friend to try our Nerger's. I asked the sales manager Brian that maybe they could just remove the bulb because I am planning to sell it. Brian was so honest that he considered that to be "dirty" and unethical for the future owner and he would do a variety of tests to diagnose why the "check engine and ABS light" were on. His company ran the tests, found the issue,fixed the same day. and now the check engine light is off and I can sell it easier. Thanks Brian and your crew! Great time with Nergers on my car repair, Had to do heater replaced and in addition they were very good in letting me know what all the other possible things which can be done and the way they presented things was good, it's not like putting a big list and say you have to do this to keep running instead doing a thorough analysis and listing which is must required and which may be done - Ah ok ..there was good professionalism in the way they handle the vehicle and the car !! This place is a rip off! Stay away!!! We had an emergency driving from NY to PA, and passing by NJ we noticed out rear tire was very hot. We were referred to this place by the gas station attendant, and it was very close. So we spoke to the guy named Adnan. He seemed very nice at first. They lifted car while we waited in the front. Then were called so they could explain what is wrong with car. Turned out that caliper was stuck, and Adnan started showing us the "damage" it has done to the rotor. Then the list went on... Turned out we needed to change the brakes fluid, the caliper, pads, ect... Mind you, I just changed my brakes a year ago, and they are still in great condition. He wanted to charge me $480 for the part that costs $140 (c'mon, there's Google on the phone now, you know...) Seriously?!! They saw that people are from out-of-state with emergency, and wanted to take advantage! Of course we didn't agree to that, and told him that's fine, we'll just take our chances, and drive home carefully. But he didn't seem to want us to leave without making something... As were ready to leave, we found out there is a cheaper option, at least for us to get home safely. For $100-125 they could fix the caliper so it doesn't rub, and safe for us to get home (that's what we needed in the first place). We agreed to that. When we came back to get the car, the receipt said $139 ($10.85 for parts, $132.78 for labor, plus tax)! Turned out the quote we got didn't include the tax. I never heard of a quote plus tax! This place rips you off to the penny! They did offer a $20 gift certificate for the next time we come LOL from Brooklyn! We went back home, and my guys replaced the caliper for $185 and were laughing at my experience with this shop! These people are not honest! Avoid going there. We later saw few other shops around, I wish we would try those first. P.S. We were asked if we had Google account to leave a review before we were offered a cheaper deal. I brought my old car to them for a very minor job. When the mechanic pulled my car in, he noticed my brakes were grinding and suggested I fix it before it becomes a bigger problem. So he fixed both and only charged me for the brakes. There were lots of things wrong with my car but he didn't try to push any other jobs on me because I had already told him I was getting rid of it soon. So then I bought a used car and they offer a thorough check over for new used cars for $135. I got that done and their master technician showed me everything that they thought could use a repair. I thought the prices were a little high, but so is everything in NJ (I'm from out of state where everything is less expensive and still not used to inflated jersey prices). But anyway, he didn't make it sound like it all needed to be done right now, but rather that I had options and made suggestions on what would be the most important jobs. Their staff is really helpful and they even offer rides to get you to or from work if you're dropping off your car with them. And they incentivize referring new customers with coupons. I have been bringing my cars to Nergers to get maintained and repaired for over 20 years. They have always provided me with excellent service, but this time I decided I had to write about what a great job they did. I had a broken fuel pump replaced in my Audi at Nergers over a year ago. Afterwards, when I drove the car, I noticed a slight humming sound coming from it when I stepped on the accelerator. I figured it was just due to the new pump and once it got "broken in" the sound would go away. Since then, the sound would come and go but I never did anything about it. A couple weeks ago the sound became very loud. I brought my car into Nergers and told them my story. Even though it was over a year since they had originally installed the fuel pump, they replaced it with a brand new one and didn't charge me for the part or labor! They really stand behind their work!! One of their best services they provide is that they will drive the customer home or to work when the car is brought in for service and pick the customer up later when it is ready.
