Poor service, high prices. But not the only thing high there. Ask Vicky about her dirty meth pipe.

Cute kid, but we weren't sure if we had walked into a restaurant or a homeschool business project. We asked if we should seat ourselves. He said yes. So we did. Then we fetched our own menus because clearly we were expected to earn our breakfast. We waited... and waited... until we finally asked if he was the one supposed to take our order. He said yes, very matter-of-factly, like duh. So we placed our order: the "kids" pancake, a breakfast burrito, and a chicken biscuit. What showed up: THREE giant pancakes for the kid's order -- like, "Texas Roadhouse meets elementary school lunch special." Way overkill. But to be fair, they were the tastiest thing we had. And they came with a giant cup of maple syrup -- no exaggeration. We're talking enough to drown the pancakes, your feelings, and possibly a small dog. Honestly, I respect the chaos. The burrito was huge and greasy, but pretty decent. The chicken biscuit? Picture a frozen chicken tender slapped on a biscuit with all the enthusiasm of a middle school cafeteria lunch lady. It was fine. Just... fine. Drinks? We asked for water and orange juice and got a plastic water bottle and a mini OJ. Low effort, high price. After the meal, the kid vanished like a magician. We waited around to pay, but no adults appeared unless you actively summoned them like some sort of brunch séance. Eventually my husband went to the back to find someone because another poor guy had been standing at the counter for 10+ minutes. An adult helped him, disappeared again, and we finally paid the kid (again -- love supporting youth employment, but maybe not as the only staff on the floor). The total? $25 for a meal that should've been more like $16 plus the cost of two bottled drinks. We didn't leave a tip because... well... that was the tipped price already. There was another group there who clearly knew the drill -- getting their own drinks, grabbing to-go boxes, probably flipping pancakes themselves. Locals, I assume. Look, I'm all for letting kids help in a family business. That's awesome. But maybe also have an adult present and, you know, supervising? Small town charm is one thing. This felt more like a pancake-themed fever dream.

Yep, this place is a winner!…read more I've been to Lipan a couple of times, doing something called CityStrides. On those afternoon trips, Marcantonio's Bakery was closed, but I took note. I was determined to do another stride when Marcantonio's Bakery was open. That day was a couple of days ago. The other reviews tell it right. This is not your average small town bakery. At first look, it is a donut shop, but then you realize there is more to it. It is a bakery, and a pie shop. We (three) did our best to sample as much as we could. Everything was great. We had donuts, muffins, and sausage rolls. Everything quite delicious. My wife also made the observation that things were not "super sweet", and this is a good thing. I don't know what the source of their donut fillings, but they taste "fresh." I didn't think to ask the source, but it did not seem to be the chemically tasting fillings so common at other places. The proprietor is super friendly. He gave us a bit of the background on Marcantonio's Bakery, and it's a cool story. I'll just give you a snippet. It's been around since 1998! Want to know more? Come by and talk to Frank! If you have a chance. yo need to check this place out, and a couple other cool places in Lipan! Bottom line: Even when I'm done Striding the city (it's only 22 streets), I'll be coming back to Lipan for tasty treats, cheese (from across the street), and flatbread pizza (another place across the street).

Best donuts in town! Always friendly and quick. Delicious! Our family enjoys picking up treats in…read morethe mornings!
