I was determined to do another stride when Marcantonio's Bakery was open. That day was a couple of days ago. The other reviews tell it right. This is not your average small town bakery. At first look, it is a donut shop, but then you realize there is more to it. It is a bakery, and a pie shop. We (three) did our best to sample as much as we could. Everything was great. We had donuts, muffins, and sausage rolls. Everything quite delicious. My wife also made the observation that things were not "super sweet", and this is a good thing. I don't know what the source of their donut fillings, but they taste "fresh." I didn't think to ask the source, but it did not seem to be the chemically tasting fillings so common at other places. The proprietor is super friendly. He gave us a bit of the background on Marcantonio's Bakery, and it's a cool story. I'll just give you a snippet. It's been around since 1998! Want to know more? Come by and talk to Frank! If you have a chance. yo need to check this place out, and a couple other cool places in Lipan! Bottom line: Even when I'm done Striding the city (it's only 22 streets), I'll be coming back to Lipan for tasty treats, cheese (from across the street), and flatbread pizza (another place across the street).
