We also tried the Blueberry Scones, they are huge and had the perfect texture, some of the best I've ever had. My daughter got a peanut butter brownie and said it was like a delicious peanut butter cookie over a brownie. They are friendly and the portions are generous. Everything else looked great. I have ordered three cakes from this bakery. First two were fine this last one was a specialty flavor request that they said they can do. Said it would taste like an orange creamsicle. I wanted an orange flavor cake for my mom's birthday. Which I paid 70 for! The cake tasted nothing like orange. My mother was extremely disappointed as this was the only thing she truly wanted for her birthday. I emailed right away . Their response was they forgot the orange zest. So that to me sounds like they knew they didn't add this why did they take my money and not inform me? They offered a 25 store credit which could not be used for custom orders. I said this was not acceptable and wanted me to bring the cake back intact for a full refund. Huh? I mean the cake had to be cut into to know the flavor was not correct. Visited Back Home Bakery as a complete fluke. My husband and I were visiting Weatherford this week for my birthday to do some antiquing but arrived before any of the shops were open. We saw that Back Home was open and decided to pop in to see if they had any cakes available for a birthday treat. The staff was very kind and made excellent recommendations. We left with a phenomenal red velvet cake and basically one of every cookie flavor available. We were thoroughly impressed with everything. Disappointed by our previous "bakery experiences" in Weatherford, we decided to make a pit stop just before leaving...the pit stop happened to be Back Home Bakery. Wow was I impressed! The shop sits almost right on the corner off of the main historic town square among the quintessential gift/antique shops. The service is quick friendly and patient upon our arrival. The shop has a warm feel to it as a Bakery should. Kids even have a section where they can sit, draw/doodle and enjoy and sweet treat. Each baked good has it's own cute little sign. It's almost like your aunt that likes to scrapbook helped decorate the place. There's a number of different delectables to choose from. However the Apple Strudel (see in the pics) caught my eye right away. It was right out off a baking magazine. The color on it was a gorgeous golden brown. I elected not to try it though, as I wanted the entire thing. LOL! My wife decided on the Lemon bar. My wife is a lemon/lime dessert freak and she even commented that it was the best she ever had. Now it's very easy to add too much sugar or make a Lemon bar too sweet. She said it wasn't the case with this. It had a perfect balance and tart and sweetness. I even tried it. I'm not a lemon freak my any means, but this was good. The lemon almost had a custard/pie consistency. Enjoyable! I chose the Smores cupcake (pictured) with a tall glass of ice cold milk. What better way to enjoy a cupcake??? Is there any other way folks? The marshallow on top had a kiss of flame on it to toast it. That in turn was placed on top of a chocolate candy shell that cracked like a Hersey bar when you bit into it. Beneath the chocolate shell was marshmallow icing which wrapped around the cupcake like a sweet white blanket...that in turn was drizzled with graham cracker crumbs. Once unwrapped, the bliss continued. The chocolate cupcake beneath all that goodness was moist and perfect. Not stiff, dry or too messy as to leave a pile of crumbs. In other words it didn't just fall apart. We also took cookies to go. Sugar and chocolate. Those are now gone. Rest in peace we hardly knew yee...LOL! If you're in town for a car show, weekend day trip or antique shopping...Be sure to stop in. There's other bakeries around but don't waste your time. Stop in, and get "Back Home". read more

My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from here and we were completely let down. We were so excited to have our cake from here because we love their treats and our cake tasting was so great. I wanted 2 cake ideas combined into one. They seemed confident enough to get the job done. The day of the wedding four hours before it started I was sent a photo of the finished result. It was not the cake I had asked for at all. The colors were completely wrong along with the design and size of cake. There was nothing smooth about the cake. I told them it was not what I wanted and I was not asked anything further they just went ahead and delivered it to the venue. When it arrived to our venue I was completely let down. It was horrible. There was NOTHING about it that was correct. They arrived an hr and a half before the wedding and looked completely shocked when I expressed this was not the cake I asked for. They attempted to "correct" it by taking the cake back and slapping on pink icing all over and adding another layer of cake. They also brought an additional round cake Incase there was not enough. Everything about this cake was wrong. I was completely let down. I messaged them the very next day about it and their response was "sorry we usually get it right". We paid almost $500 for a cake that was supposed to be PERFECT for our special day and instead it was embarrassing! There was no partial refund or anything done about this. They assumed their simple "sorry we usually get it right" , was enough. We will not be back to this bakery. For future brides I hope they admit to not being able to accomplish a certain design so they are not let down on their special day. I'm sure you can tell what the end result was by the photos. Our wedding colors were Blush, navy, and gold. The cake was silver and lilac. read more

I am sure that your bakery has some very good items however... while in town for my daughter's birthday I phoned to see if you could make a banana cream pie for her special day. Unfortunately the pie was not good and definitely not worth the money you charged. The crust was dense and hard and tasted like flour and water and not the slightest bit flakey and the filling and topping were just not great. We couldn't really eat the crust and most of the pie went in the trash. For the money we spent I was hoping for something special especially since we don't get to spend our daughters birthday with her often.
