Called B and B drove 30 min from Short Pump to get 1/2 bushel large males. Once I got there he showed and handled me one of the crabs in the half of bushel. They were cold!!! I replied what am I suppose to do with these he said put them in the microwave. I replied I have never seen anything like this! I told him I am from Maryland and we sell crabs hot steamed. He told me to go back to Maryland!!! He replied we will sell out in an hour I do not need your money!!! Go back to Maryland!! The comment was said in a very inhumane way with racial overtones!!!! Being that he was Caucasian and the manner it was said it did cut through me. I will never visit or support B and B ever!!!!! I don't care how fast they sell out!!! I suggest you do not either. Not pleased with this place at all! I went in for crab legs, I had them steamed and seasoned. Apparently they use a homemade seasoning rather obey I didn't care for it, it taste too garlicky for me. B&B Seafood has been in business for a long time. The original owners that have passed away had hearts made of gold. Their children took over the operation at a tough economic time. The children (owners) are very kind people that would help anyone at anytime. In my opinion, they have kept the doors open despite the economy and competition. Everywhere you look you see somebody selling steamed crabs under a 10' X 10' tent with no overhead costs. And, most of the restaurant growth (food service) has blossomed about 1-2 miles away on laburnum Ave. So they stand alone as the only food establishment in that area of Williamsburg Road. Simply put, they need an infusion of business and customers to get things back on track. They are surviving and providing jobs and a service to customers. I respect them for that! I went there the other weekend because a friend told me their crabcakes and peel and eat shrimp were great! The very first time here and I walked in the door and was immediately met with a cheerful lady behind the counter, even though she was in another conversation, she still stopped to greet me. I made my way over to the left where there were more coolers and found a man behind the counter sweeping and he as well greeted me and apologized but would be right with me. Such a polite man and was smiling and happy! I got two packages of his crab cakes and 2 pounds of his peel and eat shrimp. He offered to put more spice in the bag but I was happy with what was on it. I told him the crabcakes and peel and eat shrimp were highly recommended and he told me that he was happy to hear that and hoped I enjoyed them. And he wished me a Happy Mother's Day! I made my way to the counter to the sweet lady that greeted me before when I walked in and she and I talked about how the way the world is these days and there isn't anything wrong with being nice to someone. We both agreed on that and other topics and we hugged each other and I left telling her I would be back! I got home and made the crab cakes for my family and let me tell you....There was hardly any filler in them and they were absolutely delicious!! It was $11.99 for 4 of them and I think the price is very well worth it. Anyone who expects to come in any seafood place and get stuff for cheap and expect a good product, well you may as well go and fish your own out of the waters. Recently I have been to B&B Seafood with my family when they came here from Nevada. They bought their crabs and were definitely satisfied with what they bought. They hooked my sister up with her order and we had a damn good time!!!! And the seasoning was on the money!!! Now my sister and her family are ordering Crabs from Richmond, VA and having them shipped to them there. They are really excited to get their Crabs!!!! And believe me if they are now good when they get them they will definitely get on here and let every one know!!
