I visited Johns Seafood on August 4, 2019 and I was disrespected by the old lady working the cash register. Also, there was a terrible smell of spoiled food in the building and I could not bare the smell. I will not be doing business in John's ever again. I am afraid that the food will get me sick. The lady on the register thinks that I have to buy food from her but I will not return and this is how you boycott a store like this for her racist attitude and she has the nerve to have spoiled food for sale. Awful... Expensive... Poor Preparation... Unclean... yep, just nasty... Ever wonder how some places stay open? This is one of those... Very limited selection of fresh seafood available and the prices are high. The menu is limited and it's take out only.... and expensive as hell for what little you get. I'll spare you the details, it's awful, bad food, bad skill, hell no skill they just dump it in a fryer... the oil is NASTY old burnt and acrid... the seafood is 'iffy' at best and when they prepare it it's just a fried pile of awful presented in a styro container... if you eat here ... well at least there is a drug store down the street to get yourself some Pepto after this gut bomb gets done with you.... :) try la victoria next door though!! I've been going to johns for a while when I'm in Richmond and want steamed snow crab legs. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving them three stars, the service isn't the best the lady that's runs the joint is rude period she will not take call ahead orders and they tend to drag their feet. There are normally two people working the front and they just can't get it tougher. Now on to the food, the food is good in my eyes my crab legs are always steamed just right and the seasoning is on point, the fried fish sandwiches and platters have yet to let me down. And one of my favorite things are the hush puppies! They're so good! With the summer upon and the seafood cravings starting to soar I encourage anyone to give them a try I'll be back I just wish the lady wasn't so rude and they got a little more organized. Beware parking is slim and you could miss it when driving on nine mile but it's worth the trip. Also the legs are pretty good sizes. read more

Worst seafood I have ever had (that wasn't a tv dinner). It's not one problem, it's everything. And a little more expensive than average... Wasn't expecting Bonefish quality, but at least captain d's level, since seafood is their speciality. Shocking. Just shocking. Btw, the oil should be changed at some point, not just added to indefinitely, in case the staff truly doesn't know that. Tangy.. Also, they charge 0.25 apiece per ketchup sized packet if you want tartar or cocktail sauces with your meal. They apparently do take ebt food stamps for payment though, if that helps anyone out :-) read more
