    July 2nd holiday weekend line.

Baltimore is the home of the snowball and B&B Snowballs is the best in town. They have the best marshmallow to top it all off. For a special treat try the chocolate snowball with marshmallow.

G'kids found it funny that there's a flavor "named after Nana"!

Totally worth the drive from Ft. Meade! DGS has been loving shave ice since we lived in Honolulu. It's tough to find here, sadly - and most of the places spell it WRONG. There is no 'd' on the end of it! Anyway, we are always in search of snowballs that are close, and we just found our place. Not super close in distance, but definitely close to shave ice! Not a terrible drive for a once-a-week treat. Prices are very good and even a small sized snowball has plenty in it. DGD didn't want a snowball, but the helpful server said she could get the ice cream separate. So for $5.20 (because I dropped a $1 in the tip jar), I have 2 very happy g'kids! Also, they now take plastic Google directions were great, although it seemed to suddenly be there (I almost missed the driveway). Thank goodness for the sandwich boards out at the curb. But just for info, there's a Royal Farms just before you get to it, at least from my direction.

Let me start by saying this: I've never had a snowball before. I didn't even know what a snowball WAS before I moved to Maryland. (I'm from Pennsylvania) When I found out snowballs were just glorified snow cones, I was turned off, especially when I learned that Egg Custard is a real flavor that's a "MUST HAVE". And topped with marshmallow fluff?! It sounds SO gross. However, after so many people told me that I HAVE to try one, I finally caved one night. B & B Snowballs is very close to my apartment, I figured I'd give it a shot. We went on a Friday night in August, after 7pm after dinner, I thought it would be very crowded and pleased to see we didn't have to wait in line long. The girl behind the counter was friendly and took our orders with no problems. My boyfriend got a large egg custard with marshmallow (the size large, is LARGE, be aware the cup is huge) and I got a medium pumpkin pie with marshmallow(since it was closer to September, I get in the fall spirit early). DELICIOUS. SO freaking good, now I'm pissed with myself for waiting so long. The egg custard as nothing like I thought it would taste like and my pumpkin pie was "autumn ice" in a cup. Who knew marshmallow fluff on ice would be so delicious and FILLING?! We can't wait to go back and try more flavors. Fun addition: When I got out of the car, I saw a stray cat on the side of the building and he was so friendly and walked right up to me for pets. I told the man in the crab shack window on the side of the stand to just be careful, there are stray cats outside under someone's car. Turns out, they were well aware of that, the cats were waiting to be fed, they've lived there for years! So if you plan to visit, there are friendly kitties nearby who love rubs!

Friends who moved away to Boston were in town with their babes and they wanted to treat their toddler to his first snowball. With a quick search we were on our way to B&B! Nothing too fancy happening here, but they do not disappoint! Our orders were Pink Lemonade, Skyline, Strawberry, and Red Velvet with Marshmallow. The toddler enjoyed his, as well as his mother's and I was very happy with my levels of flavoring, I've, and marshmallow! Note: They are cash only!

I absolutely love B&Bs. I pass 3 snowball stands on the way, but it's worth the drive. My favorite part is the marshmallow on top Their flavors are homemade and delish! They also sell crabs that they will steam and they are cooked perfectly!

Best snowball stand! I've been going here for about 25 years and always love the snowballs. I always get a fruity flavor with ice cream. Last night we got black cherry with vanilla ice cream. Perfect on a hot summer day.

If you blink, you might miss it. Decent parking available & some outdoor picnic tables if you want to eat in the lot.

Snowballs rarely disappoint, & this was no exception. The difference is that these are pretty big for the price, & the syrups aren't bland. I prefer to cut some of the sugar, so I mix regular flavor with sugar-free. In this case it was $2 medium raspberry/strawberry combo, respectively, & I think next time I'll get small. My friend had large (very large) spearmint with a scoop of ice cream, but it was even more than a scoop. More like half the cup according to him. The ice cream bumped up the price a little, so his was around $4.50-ish (?). Note: CASH ONLY, so be prepared.

My Bean enjoying the kids size!

The menu is classic, the kind of simple comfort food that has nothing to hide behind. Hot dogs, chili, fries, soft serve. Everything is straightforward and made the way you want it to be. The space is tiny, which is part of the charm and part of the warning label. There are only six seats, all at a counter, no tables. This is mostly a grab, wait a few minutes, and take it home kind of stop. Go early if you want a seat. Service is fast and genuinely friendly. Smiles, efficiency, no attitude, just people who know what they're doing. That kind of warmth matters more than most restaurants realize. We ordered a few foot longs, chili fries, and a couple ice cream cones. Every single item hit. The hot dogs were best loaded up with toppings, and the chili fries are a must. Rich, messy, and completely worth it. Highly recommended.

Introduction to history & deciding to go there:…read more Just read an article yesterday that Crazy Mason will be closing at the end of August. I was in old town Ellicott City on Saturday, April 18 for their Springfest. The only times I end up venturing to downtown is when there's some event going on. We were meeting up with my friend & his family. My friend's brother mentioned Crazy Mason was excellent and that they were very close to the concert stage area we were. I said to my girlfriend I'd be game to try them out to split a shake. Having one by myself is a lot of sugar, so splitting is a more sensible option, not to mention less total cost. This was originally the Ellicott Theater in the 1940's & 50's. Various performing artists, discotheque, etc. had its spot. It's cool this Crazy Mason milkshake place took over this space. Unusual for anything in the ice cream category to have such a large space. I also learned that they started in Myrtle Beach. I could see why as it's a touristy beach area, which various ice cream shops and some more unique options are more common than say in Howard County, MD. Although old town Ellicott City doesn't have the level of tourism that Myrtle Beach would, they have some and of course many locals who go here. In 2024, I had a friend in town, and we drove him up to old town Ellicott City to look around. I just read they started in June 2020 during Covid. The Ellicott City location opened in 2022. It's unfortunate they only lasted 4 years as they were outstanding. My experience: The staff was friendly. We asked for recommendations. The younger guy who was taking orders & making shakes, enthusiastically made a couple of suggestions to us. We settled on the Cookie Mashup, which was a shake with chocolate chip cookie, chocolate syrup, cookie dough bites, cookies n' cream, crushed chips ahoy, crushed Oreo, vanilla buttercream, whipped icing, and [deep breath] a whole Oreo on top. We opted to get it in their souvenir Crazy Mason jar, which is in a mason jar. We sat in the many seats on a lower level with a stage in the background. We waited maybe 10 minutes as they were pretty busy on that Saturday of Springfest. Wow, this shake was outstanding! One of the best shakes I've ever had. It was some flavorful with a lot of great ingredients. We both loved it. I will say it was quite messy, but it was worth it! The price was pretty expensive, but it was an experience. And I would get again, but it's quite unlikely I'll be in old town Ellicott City between today 8/11 & the end of August when they close. We asked the older gentleman who was the cashier & giving the finished shakes if we could wrap the mess we left behind on the mason jar. He said let me give you a new clean jar, which I thought was very nice, and let us keep the used jar too wrapping both of them carefully. In summary, I wish they were staying open for much longer than the next 3 weeks as they really were great and very nice staff/owner too!

Since we had just finished lunch, we didn't want one of the huge expensive milkshakes they are known for, although they did look delicious. Instead, my friend and went for one of our favorite treats: pineapple dole whip, swirled with non-dairy vanilla ice cream (for me) and of course, topped with rainbow sprinkles. The serving was large, and our order was ready quickly. Can't go wrong with dole whip, although the non-dairy ice cream was kind of flavorless. Still delicious though. The place is huge (it used to be an old theater) with plenty of tables. There is also a small game room up front with arcade games. Lots of cute murals on the wall to help capture the moment. There were also annoying gnats flying around, so I think next time I'll eat outside, but I will definitely be back.
