Pretty tasty ice cream. I got the caramel old bay and it was sweet, creamy, with a hint of spiciness from the old bay. Kind of wish I got the chocolate one but I still enjoyed the caramel one. Line moved pretty quickly and the servers were sweet. There's some benches outside but if those are occupied, you gotta find another spot to sit and enjoy the sweet treat.

I love this spot! The ice cream sando is so perfect and I think anyone who tried it would enjoy it :) There's a lot of seating in this plaza so it's perfect to get some ice cream from here on a warm day and relax.

Great ice cream store if you are already eating nearby in the Merriweather District. Food: ice cream has been delicious every time I've been here. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors and can try a spoon before you buy. Service: kind employees that let us try as much as we wanted before ordering, very patient with my party! Ambiance: bright lighting, easy to read menu and flavor labels, clean store. No indoor seating, can sit on benches or elsewhere in the Merriweather District small park area. Multiple parking lots to use, however can get crowded on weekends!

Love the Charmery. First had them at their original location in Hampden! They have old bay caramel ice cream. I was curious so I did a sample - not bad, but not for me. I went with a scoop of salted caramel and it was delicious. It was a warm evening out so the line is out the door. Just like the one I visited before, there's not much space inside, but benches outside to enjoy your sweet treats!

Quick fast and flavorful. That's what you can expect at the Charmery ice cream shop. The line moves very fast and has a a good turn out. The art and decor is inviting encouraging photo taking with the back drop. There aren't a ton of flavors offered but the ones they have hit the mark. You may purchase pints to go Overall 4 out of 5

Such a nice addition to Merriweather. Came here after dinner for dessert, and enjoyed it on the lawn and swings nearby. They have a wide variety of flavors, and unique ones to the area like Old Bay and Sweet Corn. I enjoyed their Old Bay Caramel, and can't wait to try their other flavors. I appreciate the use of metal spoons for tasting flavors!

One of my favorite ice cream place in Columbia. I like their concept and the stuff. They are really nice and kind... I only try coconut and Maryland mud. They are good. In the beginning the coconut flavor was more strange and it was pretty good. I can't take same taste as the beginning but still good. I wanna try the others asap. They also make the cone over there as fresh as much. Also there is a little card, they put mark on every time you buy ice cream, if you complete ten mark you earn free ice cream! Isn't it nice?

Such a fun place for everyone!!

bluf - a local franchise that delivers seasonal flavors that are both unique and tasty albeit on the upper range on the pricing scale. Charmery is a cool little spot tucked around the corner in Color Burst Park and it offers a nice little pit stop for a bite of dessert. You pay a bit of a premium price for the artisanal flavors though. I got a "kiddie" sized cup for $5 pre-tip. That being said, the flavors are good. I would love for the seating situation to be better (or exist). There's no indoor seating available, which makes it a bit tough for colder days. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but nobody wants to eat ice cream outside on a cold day.

First time visiting The Charmery. On the day that we decided to give it a try, it was really crowded to the point that a long line had formed outside of the establishment. It was good that we arrived right before it got really crowded. This leads me to staff efficiency. They handled the crowd with ease. It was amazing to see how they flowed through serving the crowd without missing a beat. Even with some customer indecision about what to order, the assembly line process was top notch. As for the ice cream, they had some regular flavors, but mostly unusual intriguing flavors. I decided on a safe choice, which was salted caramel. It was some of the best salted caramel ice cream that I have ever tasted. The saltiness, the sweetness of the caramel and the overall creaminess were collectively all amazing. The store made waffle cone was also delicious. It was a very warm day, so the ice cream melted faster than I could eat, so it was a little messy. The outside tables across the street from the shop were pretty messy from prior customer's melted ice cream. The one napkin that was wrapped around my cone was not enough to accommodate the melting ice cream or to clean up the messy table and bench. The smell upon walking into the shop was so sweet, the air smelled of waffle cones. It also appeared very clean. I would like to return at some point and try a more adventurous flavor.

Not my first visit to The Charmery, I've been to the Hampden location several times. I had a good time here! Customer service was good. I really liked the ice cream, although I do wish the milkshake came in different sizes. I got a kiddie scoop of Milk and Cookies with Oreo toppings and it was $5.91 which was very affordable and reasonable. The ice cream was creamy and so good! There aren't places to sit inside but in this area there is plenty of outside seating. They have waffle cones, cups and so many flavors! Free Parking is right across the street too. My friend got the Barley Malt flavor which she really likes. They let you try different flavors which is super helpful and I tried two, an apple flavored ice cream and a mud chocolate flavor. (I still went with milk and cookies lol!) I def recommend and I would absolutely visit again.

This is the second time this has happened to me at this location. I only ordered one thing(brownie…read moresundae) and my ticket kept getting skipped. People who came after me received their orders and drove off. I asked what was going on and they said they are making it. I sat back down.Nobody was making a sundae. I got up again and asked for a refund (20 mins later). Everyone looked confused. A girl came up with what should have been my sundae but it was made wrong smh. I come here often and know it's gonna be a wait but when people after me are getting their merchandise and leaving then that's when it becomes a problem. I didn't make a fuss and accepted their apologies. Rachel offered to personally make it and give a refund. Thank you! They just have to learn how to go in ticket order(don't skip it because it takes a few more seconds to make) and properly read the ticket.

You order at the walk-up window, and there are a few outdoor seats if you'd like to enjoy your ice cream there. They have a huge selection of flavors...so many that it was almost overwhelming! The girl at the window was incredibly friendly and patient, and she happily let me sample a flavor to make sure I liked it before ordering. I went with the Cold Brew Brownie ice cream in a waffle cone, and it was absolutely delicious! I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of their flavors.

Introduction to history & deciding to go there:…read more Just read an article yesterday that Crazy Mason will be closing at the end of August. I was in old town Ellicott City on Saturday, April 18 for their Springfest. The only times I end up venturing to downtown is when there's some event going on. We were meeting up with my friend & his family. My friend's brother mentioned Crazy Mason was excellent and that they were very close to the concert stage area we were. I said to my girlfriend I'd be game to try them out to split a shake. Having one by myself is a lot of sugar, so splitting is a more sensible option, not to mention less total cost. This was originally the Ellicott Theater in the 1940's & 50's. Various performing artists, discotheque, etc. had its spot. It's cool this Crazy Mason milkshake place took over this space. Unusual for anything in the ice cream category to have such a large space. I also learned that they started in Myrtle Beach. I could see why as it's a touristy beach area, which various ice cream shops and some more unique options are more common than say in Howard County, MD. Although old town Ellicott City doesn't have the level of tourism that Myrtle Beach would, they have some and of course many locals who go here. In 2024, I had a friend in town, and we drove him up to old town Ellicott City to look around. I just read they started in June 2020 during Covid. The Ellicott City location opened in 2022. It's unfortunate they only lasted 4 years as they were outstanding. My experience: The staff was friendly. We asked for recommendations. The younger guy who was taking orders & making shakes, enthusiastically made a couple of suggestions to us. We settled on the Cookie Mashup, which was a shake with chocolate chip cookie, chocolate syrup, cookie dough bites, cookies n' cream, crushed chips ahoy, crushed Oreo, vanilla buttercream, whipped icing, and [deep breath] a whole Oreo on top. We opted to get it in their souvenir Crazy Mason jar, which is in a mason jar. We sat in the many seats on a lower level with a stage in the background. We waited maybe 10 minutes as they were pretty busy on that Saturday of Springfest. Wow, this shake was outstanding! One of the best shakes I've ever had. It was some flavorful with a lot of great ingredients. We both loved it. I will say it was quite messy, but it was worth it! The price was pretty expensive, but it was an experience. And I would get again, but it's quite unlikely I'll be in old town Ellicott City between today 8/11 & the end of August when they close. We asked the older gentleman who was the cashier & giving the finished shakes if we could wrap the mess we left behind on the mason jar. He said let me give you a new clean jar, which I thought was very nice, and let us keep the used jar too wrapping both of them carefully. In summary, I wish they were staying open for much longer than the next 3 weeks as they really were great and very nice staff/owner too!

Since we had just finished lunch, we didn't want one of the huge expensive milkshakes they are known for, although they did look delicious. Instead, my friend and went for one of our favorite treats: pineapple dole whip, swirled with non-dairy vanilla ice cream (for me) and of course, topped with rainbow sprinkles. The serving was large, and our order was ready quickly. Can't go wrong with dole whip, although the non-dairy ice cream was kind of flavorless. Still delicious though. The place is huge (it used to be an old theater) with plenty of tables. There is also a small game room up front with arcade games. Lots of cute murals on the wall to help capture the moment. There were also annoying gnats flying around, so I think next time I'll eat outside, but I will definitely be back.
