Stopped by Ann's Dari-Creme and it was definitely giving '50s vibes. It felt like I was in the set of Back to the Future. They have a private parking lot, which is always convenient. They are famous for their footlong hotdog ($5.90) so I had to try it. It was simple and classic. They deep-fried the hot dog itself so it had that crispy snap when you take a bite. The chili ($4.90) was a complete flop. It was really oily and had a gritty texture. It was basically just minced beef, no beans or onions to give it any bite. The cheesesteak sub ($15.40) was good. The meat was thinly sliced instead of chopped. There was a nice texture. The bread was soft (not sure if it was fresh fresh). A large fountain Coke was only $3.05. I had the famous footlong dog - was surprised to see it was deep fried... I wish I'd gotten a double. VERY tasty. My strawberry sundae healed something for my inner child - it was reminiscent of the ones they used to serve at McDonalds. Next time I'm going to ask for extra strawberries. I will note: you need to pack your patience - the line was long but the employees were efficient and cranking as hard as they could. Definitely worth the wait. Organized chaos but I loved it. Hello and welcome to Ann's Dari Creme. This restaurant reminded me of a classic burger and dog joint. The diner seating and countertop bar was nostalgic. There aren't really any defined lines when you enter the restaurant from either door you stand and wait to be called upon. The lines stayed consistent but not quite out the door line. The large wall menu was clear and straight to business. I do encourage you to read what "everything" for them includes. I opted for the hotdog and full sized hamburger with everything on it and added ketchup. I was too excited I forgot to add fries to my meal which was ok because it allowed me to go use on the primary options. The bun selection for both was very unique as it was more of a super soft hoagie roll. That chili sauce touch chopped onion and mustard worked so well. The location has plenty of parking and easy to get to. Not really a big place to come sit and eat, even though they do have some counter space. Better to eat outside on a nice day or take it to go. We don't live near Ann's Dari Creme, but we make it a point to come here every few months. It's easy to find on the west side of MD-1 at a traffic light. Open every day from mid-morning to evening. There's plenty of parking, mostly on the side and in the back, with several benches to eat at on a nice day. There's a short counter inside with maybe 8 stools. Most people get their food to go, but we usually eat inside just to enjoy the bustling cooks and staff. It's a genuine old-school hot-dog, fries, and shake stand. There's more on the menu, but we always get the basics every time! Good-old regular dogs with house-made chili on soft fresh buns. Generous hot crispy fries. We passed this place for years and so my Husband wanted to try them today. It's very tight inside with only maybe 5 stalls at the counter. We ordered a Footlong Chili Hot Dog, Chili Cheese Fries and a Banana Milkshake. The Hot Dog was so small it was about the size of my finger around, we didn't realize you can add 2 or 3 Hot Dogs to your Roll, the Bread swallowed up the Hot Dog. We've been going here on and off for over 40 years and unfortunately it's just not what it used to be. The quality of the food was very subpar compared to what we were served years ago. The hot dogs were minuscule on a very cheap and dry roll. Fries were ok and the ice cream treats and shakes are very good but a little overpriced . The service area is way too small and awkward. Not good when you have young children with you. The pandemic and COVID-flation definitely had a negative impact on this place. read more

This is a very small restaurant with up to 8 seats at the counter. It was crowded on a Saturday afternoon. We only tried the chocolate milkshake for $4.50. I love Ann's Dari Creme. I have stopped here a number of times when I'm in the area. The idea of a colorful local business that has been around for decades is refreshing to be honest. It is a welcome respite from the corporate fast food cookie cutter places. The ladies that work inside are also very colorful but always nice too. Ann's Dari Creme can get very busy. Be prepared to wait in a line and in order to wait in the line you will be standing outside. It is very small inside. They do have a big parking lot. I honestly don't know if there is a restroom? I don't think there is a restroom but I never asked. I am giving Ann's a 3 star rating because the last time that I got food at Ann's it was not very good. I got a foot long hotdog with chili sauce and the chili sauce was not very good at all it had an off taste, I think it may have been spoiled or they cut corners on the recipe. Maybe you remember that old cop show where the guy would say to witnesses, "just the facts ma'am". Well that's what this place is now, and always has been. The last time I had been my son was a teen, he is now 30 and an Asst. Athletic Director at Wake Forest Univ. My spouse and I rode 22 miles on the B&A trail, driving in she saw the sign, I had mentioned it before. So we said "we want to go to there". We both had the foot long, fries, and a shake. No frills, no garnishes, no decor, just solid, regular food. My spouse did figure out the mystery of the double dog and why that may be the way to go...she's thinking half double dog gets you to the best meat to bread ratio- although she liked the bun quite fine. It was about 1215 and the line (always a line is a good sign- be patient) was already forming behind us as we left with our food. This is my second attempt at coming to Ann's since there's always a line outside and I have zero patience. This night, 8/13/2022 around 5:30pm, I finally got in the door after a short wait outside. And oh my god, I wish I hadn't. I understand that this is a special location that has been around for many years and is a Maryland gem according to various articles I've seen online about "must-go-to's in the state". Since I'm not from here originally and now only live 10 minutes away, yeah I wanted to check it out and see why it's so popular! Once I got inside, I understood why everyone needs to wait outside so long. This place is extremely small, it's nothing but a room with a grill, a counter with stools in front of it (picture an old school diner counter), and you, basically standing AT the Entrance door. It was total chaos this night, only 4 older women working there. One at the grill, one SHOUTING orders, one working an ice cream machine out of sight, and another assembling sub sandwiches. There is ZERO ORDER in this place. Customers didn't know where to stand in line to place their order to be waited on. Customers were lining the walls inside waiting forever for their orders to cook. Customers were getting SCREAMED at by the main employee for leaving the entrance door open, letting the cold AC air out of the building (which, okay good for her) We walked in and shuffled to the front of the line to make room for others behind us and to close the damn door. We've already spent 30 minutes waiting in line. The main female employee TAKES THE ORDER OF A COUPLE BEHIND US WHEN SHE SAW US STANDING IN FRONT OF HER BECAUSE SHE KNEW THEM. As my fiancé told me to relax, I watched the only woman on the grill struggle with literal ARMFULLS OF BUNS, dropping one and tossing it in the garbage, trying to stir a huge pot of chili, and dipping into a bin of uncooked hotdogs to throw them into anther pot to cook, and keeping everything on the counter WITH HER BODY. Sure, she had gloves on, but she didn't have a hair net (no one did) and everything was just filthy. The main employee is SHOUTING over the noise, custom orders at her and at the sub sandwich girl, trying to figure out who ordered what asking customers multiple times what their toppings were. I had had enough. I turned to my fiancé and demanded to leave and by that point he was relieved too. We had waited roughly 45 MINUTES and we were not even WAITED ON. NO HOT DOG IS WORTH THIS. Will I return? HELL NO. The staff was so unorganized, not clean, and not friendly from what I witnessed. Please go anywhere else in Glen Burnie for a hot dog OR cook them at home. I saw on FB that they are currently hiring and I hope they hire more staff and get a concreate system in place. How to take orders(MAYBE WRITE THEM DOWN?!), cook them quickly, corral customers BACK OUTSIDE to wait for their orders so people don't get packed inside like sardines, and pay upfront instead of waiting until the end.
