I always have a great experience at this theater. The reclining seats are comfortable, the Screen X is a cool and unique viewing experience, and tickets are affordable. It's not as well staffed as some other larger theaters, but I do believe it's more convenient and affordable so I'm perfectly happy with that "trade-off" to reduce their overhead. They also have a great program that gives money to an organization helping special needs children, which, as someone with a special needs sibling, I think is fantastic. Overall, I would recommend this theater for people to check out! read more

This is an amazing movie theater... something was missing. Customer service and a care for the place. This is soo sad, I hope this is not going to go down, it may need better management or something to bring in more people. I could totally see how many people would be afraid of coming here. I had a bad experience at the bar where they were a few minutes late to tend the bar at three and then served me then the what I believe was the manager told a fellow member there at the bar with her to go ahead and shut off the lights to the bar after I was charged. I assume that they're just trying to slow down the bar and deter customers from assuming that it's open, so I decided Midway through my movie to go through and grab another drink only to just wait there like a fool for nothing. None of the members seem to have existed at all whether in the back or at the front of the cash registers. I really hope this place turns it around and figures out something great, it seems like the people are probably willing to come but it seems as if the service is not catching up till what the expectations are of the customers in the area. I may be wrong and maybe it's just that people don't watch movies like this anymore, but it's really sad because this is a really great place and need something amazing to happen to put it back on the map. read more

Let's start with what they do have, some bottled waters, teas, limeade, popcorn, and 3 kinds of candy, 1 slushy and that's it. It looks like a bomb went off in the lobby, food everywhere, hasn't been cleaned all day. Now what they don't have, 80% of the candy selection, 30% of the bottled drinks, no fountain drinks, no cooked food, no alcoholic drinks, 4 employees running the whole building. This was my favorite theater experience I had ever had before today but my gosh it has gone down hill a ton since I was here last and now no free popcorn! read more

I am stunned by these reviews, I have been going to this theatre for around 2 years now and I have never had a bad experience like the ones described here. Staff has always been nice and helpful to us. Tuesdays are the day to go. If you're a member (it's free just get the app) you get half off movie tickets as well as popcorn!! Half the time we go on a Tuesday we have the whole theatre to ourselves and we just love it. I just needed to put this out there as this is my favorite little theatre in Athens and more people should give it a try! read more

i went to the latest showing of a new movie and left my purse there. i went back the next morning right as they opened to ask for it back for the lady to tell me their cleaning crew "is known for stealing things". she also told me she wasn't allowed to give me the general managers phone number and really wasn't much help at all. this whole experience was so unprofessional and i'm not wasting anymore money on this place. mind you the theater was not clean at all; there were old drinks and opened candy bags literally everywhere read more

I would have given this review Five stars but we walked out on the movie after five minutes. Here's the deal folks. The theatre itself is awesome!! Very clean, great food, nice people. The movie we were watching was supposed to be 3D and it wasn't. It was just jumpy and wavy and not reacting like a 3D movie at all. I'm not sure if that's an equipment issue or a film issue. There's a lot that I can say about this theatre, but I'll try to keep it short. To put it simply, not sure I would return here. We went here on a Saturday night. You'd think that with it being a popular night for people to see a movie, that things would go smoother. Well I was wrong. Walked in and the entire place was disgusting. It looked like nobody had cleaned for days. Bypassed it and went to get something to eat. There was a separate station that seemed as if that's where you should buy the tickets but that turned out to just be an empty area. Turns out that you buy your tickets where you also get your food. No signs, no direction, nothing pointed to that. Now to the food, it took FOREVER for it to come out. We had to get a manager to go to the kitchen and check/get our food. Shouldn't have taken all that. We were late to our movie having to wait. So many other people were waiting too. What we ordered wasn't complicated, but they made it seem that it was. The one plus I will say is the assortment of seasonings for the popcorn. I was pleased with that, but that's it. There were also 3 drink machines and only one that had 75% of the drinks in stock. We finally got our food and saw our movie. Another plus was the seats. They were comfortable, had seat warmers, and you could put the middle arm rest up which was nice. read more

This is an almost new GREAT THEATER!!! NOTE: The YELP reviews include reviews for ALL BB theaters anywhere, NOT JUST ATHENS! So you have this spotless almost brand new theater being lumped with older theaters in some random small town labelled "dirty". REALLY UNFAIR. This is a great theater with some of the best seats Ive ever sat in. The ONLY issue I see here is the price of some beverages, and senior tickets are not always discounted. My girlfriend and I went twice in the last month, to see Barbie and then Oppenheimer. She really likes reclining seats, but after tonight we agreed never to go back. It is remarkable how a recently renovated theater feels so rundown and derelict. They have a full bar, but their bartender is very slow, doesn't mix drinks well, doesn't understand to serve people in the order they are standing in line, and sometimes does not even return promptly to the bar when customers are waiting. At the concession stand I watched the one customer in front of me spill a lot of his popcorn on the counter and also on the floor. The woman behind the counter did not react to this at all, whereas I removed most of the popcorn from the counter while I waited. When I came back for my pizza -- 15 minutes later -- the popcorn on the floor was still there, even though three staff members and no other customers were in the area. The pizza, which cost over $12, was not good and not even very hot. Understand that this was the service at 8 pm on a Saturday night when during the 20 minutes I spent in the lobby I never saw as many as ten customers there. That was a lot of detail, but there was also an almost ghostly emptiness to the place...as if one is not supposed to be there but if you linger in any spot long enough they will humor you for old times' sake. read more

When this theater first opened it was great ! Clean, good service, worth the money. I went today 02/18/23 and had the worst experience! The bartender made me a drink without having 4/6 items for that drink. He had me waiting for 15 + minutes , missed the first 10 minutes of the movie just for the drink to be nasty! When I got inside my movie it was disgusting . Leftover popcorn was all over the seat from the previous group! When approached about it to a manager his excuses was "sorry there's only one guy working today that cleans" . He acting like we were bothering him and it was an overall unprofessional attitude. For a theater with food and a bar this SHOULD be the place to go to see a movie. But it's a place to AVOID if you actually need any service like a ticket or food or drink. Large line at concession stand is also the place to get tickets with no sense of any urgency. Waited over 10 minutes and no movement in the line. use to go here when it was Carmike, and it has definitely continued to improve since then. I had a particularly good experience interacting with the employees. I have three kids with a lot of energy, so it was nice to see they not only weren't overwhelmed by them, but were very interactive and welcoming, even giving us details of the different theaters and menu items. When this Athens, GA theatre first opened it was great. We enjoyed our Tuesday night $5 tickets with free popcorn. Unfortunately this didn't last long. The next to last time we attended a movie we were disappointed because, unknown to us, the ticket seller charged us for the highest priced theatre with larger and warming seats. Turned out they weren't that comfortable. We chocked that experience up to us not knowing better. Last night we went to the same theatre to see "Otto". We asked the ticket seller if it was still $5 Tuesday and he said yes. When he put the purchase in the register it came up at $22. I asked him again about the $5 rate and he said "oh, this is for the better theatre". I said no, we want the $5 theatre. He ran another theatre and came up with a lesser charge but still not the $5 rate. Again I questioned him and said "we want the $5 theatre". He was very put out. Finally, he looked for tickets in the "Lyric" theatre. Not one seat had been sold for the Lyric. We thought we were getting somewhere. Oh no. I pulled out cash and he said we can't take cash at this line. WHAT!!! Credit card only and no sign that says that. I was getting ready to leave and my husband said "just charge it". We chose our seats, paid, and asked for the "free popcorn". WHAT!!! No more free popcorn worth about five cents? It couldn't get worse, right? When we got into the theatre there was popcorn all over our seats and the floor in front of the seats. Other aisles were in the same nasty condition.
