I've been wanting to visit Château Élan Winery & Resort for a few years now, so I was really excited when my husband surprised me with a two-night stay. The night before our trip, I made the mistake of reading reviews and started to feel a little skeptical, but by then, it was too late to cancel. I'm actually glad it was, because our experience turned out to be a great one. When we arrived, the grounds were absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. At check-in, we were told the last wine tour started at 5:00 p.m., and it was already 4:45. I asked if we could go the next day (Monday), and the front desk agent assured us we could, saying they were open daily from 12-6. After settling into our room, we headed to Louis' House of Bourbon. The food was decent, but the drinks were excellent. The atmosphere alone made it worth the visit. The next day, however, we found out that the wine tours and tastings were actually closed on Mondays, which was disappointing given the information we were told at check-in. Still, we didn't let that ruin our trip. We went out to a nearby steakhouse for dinner and returned to the resort for drinks at what had quickly become our favorite spot, Louis'. I have to give a special shoutout to the staff, Manny, Anya, and Cole were amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and really elevated our experience. Overall, we had a great stay and are already looking forward to coming back, especially in the summer to enjoy the pool and hot tub! read more

Review is based on winery experience itself. Not the additional special experience we paid extra for. Parking was dreadful. Being a weekend and open to the public whether wining, dining, or not, there were almost no parking when we went. Got lucky catching someone leaving. The actual tasting set up is pretty confusing. No direction when you walk in. No hosts. You have to check in. They give you a sheet with the options of wines. Then you go to another counter and choose one wine at a time reusing the same glass throughout. Unless you change from white to red and vise verse. (I personally didn't like that) All with no direction or signage and staff just looking at you being confused. It is also self seating. The ladies at the check in desk weren't very friendly, as well as at the pouring station. I get they probably get rude clientele but we weren't them =(( We ordered some charcuterie and hummus to have with our wine and we actually did not get the hummus till over an hour later. We had to tell our coordinator. I'm sure they made it and forgot because the pita was rock hard and vegetables dehydrated. Why they didn't make a new tray I don't understand. This is my third time coming to Chateau Elans Tasting Room and it was the best visit yet! My sister and I were there to celebrate her 30th birthday and we had an amazing time. The wine tasting experience is very relaxed. You check in, get your tasting guide and off you go. You get 7 tastings. I do wish they had a tip jar but you can still tip the staff directly if youd like. The manager let us sit in the private tasting room and we really enjoyed have our own space while drinking wine. The meat and cheese tray is one of my favorites. Kia, who was working at the tasting counter was amazing. She gave us the best wine recommendations and really made our experience and time there even better. I believe all the employees need to be at that level of knowledge. When we were leaving she ran outside w 3 glasses of sparkling and dessert for my sister's 30th!!! It was so sweet and just ended the trip right! The winery has a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Some staff members are incredibly friendly, while others are quite rude. When we pre-booked the wine tasting, which included six different wines, we were surprised to find that we had to wait in a line for each tasting. The setting was also limited, and I noticed a table with food and trash left on it. After waiting for 20 minutes without anyone cleaning the table, I went to find a staff member. She informed me that she was too busy and I was told very rudely to find someone else. The wines are very good and they have a great selection. My friends and I went to Chateau Elan winery tour to enjoy the behind the scenes tour and wine tasting. It was easy to call and submit payment by phone. We decided to take the Saturday tour at 3:00 pm. We checked in about 10 minutes before the start of tour and our guide was Tre. He was absolutely fantastic. He took us outdoors to the vineyards and told us the history of the property as well as the types of grapes grown on property. We had time to ask questions and snap photos too. Tre lead us indoors to the processing room and we learned even more about how the wines were made. Finally, Tre set up the tastings and described the notes, what kinds of foods to pair with each wine and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend this tour for couples and groups. We look forward to returning for Vineyard Fest in August. read more

We had dreamed of visiting Château Élan for years. It was supposed to be a luxurious, unforgettable getaway. Instead, it became one of the most disappointing experiences we've ever had. We started with dinner at the Versailles restaurant. The scallops were mediocre, the short rib was served cold (twice even though the plate was hot), the lobster was rubbery and stuck to the shell, and the steak arrived severely undercooked after we had to ask about the temperature ourselves. The mashed potatoes were oddly crunchy. The only enjoyable part of the meal was dessert. For a $500 dinner, this was unacceptable. It tasted like reheated leftovers under a heat lamp. The spa experience was just as frustrating. We were given a $250 spa credit that we couldn't even use because everything was fully booked. Offering a credit that can't realistically be redeemed makes no sense. Afternoon tea somehow made things worse. We were greeted with, "Are you guys here for the tea?" and then told we "weren't supposed to book this" because their "tea lady wasn't here" even though their website listed multiple available time slots. It felt like we were being blamed for their lack of preparation. I had clearly noted a hibiscus allergy in the reservation. When we arrived, we were informed that about half of the teas contained hibiscus, leaving only a few options like bourbon, chamomile, and a mint blend. No one proactively addressed the allergy ahead of time. Manager Dereck told us he would be "right back" to confirm which teas were safe, disappeared for 10 minutes, returned briefly, then left again for another 10 minutes. Our 3:00 PM reservation didn't result in actual tea service until 4:00 PM. We essentially lost an entire afternoon waiting. The finger sandwiches and pastries tasted stale as if they had been made days earlier and refrigerated. Then came the rooms. The first room had a group outside being extremely loud. We requested a switch and moved to a new room. After settling in for about 30 minutes, we went into the bathroom and found droplets and smears of blood on the floor. That was the breaking point. It was disgusting and completely unacceptable for a resort that promotes luxury standards. Management apologized repeatedly, but the apologies felt forced rather than genuine. At that point, we packed up and drove home at 9:45 PM, an hour and a half away because staying felt worse than leaving. The only bright spot in this entire experience was Jefferson, the valet. He was kind, warm, and professional the only staff member who made us feel welcome. Overall, this was heartbreaking. We had looked forward to this trip for years, and instead left feeling overcharged, unheard, and deeply disappointed. My best friend went on an 8 location winery and THIS was the only winery she wanted to revisit!!!! Since we're visiting from The Bay Area of California, we wanted to see what wineries Georgia had to offer. Turns out, Georgia can only grow this particular sweet grape for moscatos. All of their wines were from Napa, California! Hahaha no wonder my best from LOVED this place! They have a GREAT deal on a tasting of 6 wines for a fox price! We loved 2 of the wines so much, we got the bottles. (I'll add what we bought later). The service was GREAT! Each employee knew about the wine's origins and well as their notes and things to pair each wine with. The environment was very spacious, but come early- if you want a place to sit! Fantastic place to make a day trip or even stay the night. They've got an Irish pub on the property for simple comforting meals and a bar/ lounge on the inside of the hotel for a more upscale experience. If you need a pick me up, they've got their own coffee shop as well! There are plenty of spots on the property to lounge about and enjoy the weather and a place where you can buy a bottle of wine and peruse the area as well. Great for groups or even a romantic getaway date. My partner and I took it more as a build your own experience, but the staff are friendly enough to point you in the right direction. Definitely more of a laid back winery setting. This property is beautiful! We visited in the beginning of November and the weather was beautiful which made our day super enjoyable. They do winery tastings so you can try multiple pours, or just sell wine by the bottle or glass. The wine selection is good and definitely has something for everyone. The servers are VERY knowledgeable and had tons of information to offer about each kind of wine and are super friendly. Definitely worth the trip if you're in the area and the weather is nice. They also have indoor seating if you are not as lucky with the weather. I booked and paid for a two-hour engagement photoshoot at Chateau Elan: one hour in the atrium and one hour outside in front of the winery. The atrium portion went well, but the outdoor portion was extremely disappointing. There were people everywhere outside, with no apparent crowd control or support for the paid photoshoot experience. We were unable to get the outdoor shots we had planned for. What made it more frustrating was that other people were taking photos in the same area for free right beside us, while we had paid specifically to use that space. The experience afterward has been even more disappointing. I spoke with a manager named Stacy, who apologized and said someone would follow up, but no one did. I later left a message for a director named Brian, was called back by someone else who initially seemed dismissive, and was again told I would receive a follow-up. That also never happened. Over the past two and a half weeks, I have called multiple times, been placed on hold, redirected through phone directories, reached full voicemail boxes, and had to repeat the entire situation over and over. I also spoke with Mora, who said she would reach out to managers Jan or Tammy, but I still have not heard back. Most recently, I was redirected to Raelynn's voicemail. The number of different names involved -- Stacy, Brian, Mora, Tammy, Jan, and Raelynn -- is not meant to single anyone out personally. Rather, it reflects how unclear and frustrating the process has felt from the guest side. I was never sure who was actually responsible for helping resolve the issue, and despite speaking with multiple people, there still has not been any meaningful follow-through. I have stayed at Chateau Elan before and enjoyed the wine tour and spa, which makes this especially disappointing. But based on this experience, I would be very cautious about planning an event, wedding, or paid photoshoot here. The property is beautiful, but the lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability has been incredibly frustrating. During our several year stint in the Atlanta area from California we have been searching like crazy for a worthy winery anywhere in Georgia. While Chateau Elan is a full fledged resort with multiple restaurants, lodging and wine this review is focused on their 'Tasting Room' only. In advance of our visit, we'd heard a lot about Chateau Elan and frankly figured it would offer less than adequate wine just like every other winery we've found but, in a fancy, albeit beautiful and overpriced venue. First impression lived up to my expectations. A tasting of seven 1.5oz tastings was on the order of ~$63 gratuity automatically included. However, from that point on my perception started to shift for the better. They have quite a selection of wines, and the tasting pours of 1.5oz are clearly generous. We shared a tasting, and it was plenty for two of us with room left over for a glass or bottle had we had room. We ordered a charcuterie board ($30) that was generous, tasty, and would easily serve four. With a generous selection of wines I would say while not over the top impressive, they was something to satisfy us both, and they were some of the better wines we've found in Georgia so far. They claim most of their grapes (as does every winery) are imported from the west coast, but they are able to process them in ways many other wineries seem to miss. Finally, the service flow was well thought out by paying in a central location so that servers at the bar can focus on education and pouring of wine and not handling payment transactions, good move! The entire staff came across as knowledgeable, friendly, and it was clear customer service was important. One of the little things that impressed me was there was a pair of employees with a stack of freshly washed wine glasses polishing every glass and genuinely inspecting each and every glass for spots and blemishes. Now, that may not be a big deal if you're there just to drink and impress someone at the resort, but to someone who appreciates wine and it's finer attributes, and if they spend that much time on perfect glasses for each customer, it shows me they must take quality and the customer experience seriously. I would recommend Chateau Elan to anyone for a wine tasting and we can't wait to return for more wine, to try various restaurants, and a long weekend away. read more

Chef Chad was a great historian on the wine and great teacher of the food cuisine . We prepared a 3 course meal. It was fun, interactive and lots and lots of wine lol. Chefs Chad assistant Dalyia( sorry if I misspelled ) was great as well. She was kind and very knowledgeable of the pairings of the wine . The setting was intimate and just was a great vibe . The meal we prepared was easy to follow and a lot of the leg work was done for you , but you still were able to cook and feel accomplished at the meal you prepared . We didn't get to experience any other parts of the property but what we could see as we were waiting on our experience was that it was a really beautiful property with a lot to do. Chateau Elan is one of the winery resorts in Georgia, probably the most famous and conveniently located from Atlanta(less than hour drive depending on traffic). It has been recently renovated from the rooms to amenities. Well known for spa days and other celebrations, less so for the win specifically. Recently went there for a work retreat, and the experience was mixed. May have been off season but everything felt scant and help was hard to come by during our time. The car valet checked me in and took my bags to the room. There was a ton of confusion among planners and service and people like AV support(pay extra outside respect conf fees) were hard to locate and not really responsive, also received another bill after the event for something they "forgot" to add. I've been to this Chateau Elan a few times now over the years and it's just OK. I think the accomodations at the Inn are way overpriced for what they are and the Versailles restaurant and the Irish pub onsite are both underwhelming. My favorite things from my last visit were the whiskey bar and the pool. If not spending the night and just visiting for a wine tasting, I will admit that the wine tasting is still a good deal with the number of pours they give you for the price so, I did enjoy that. Overall, I which they did a better job of making the experience of staying at this winery a lot "ritzier" and with more late night food and entertainment options for guests. read more

Making reservations for three clients simultaneously overwhelmed the telephone reservationist. The floor of the hot room had 1/2 in ch of water on it with bath towels on the steps leading into the very cloudy hot tub water. The lighting in the dressing rooms was harsh and cold rather than warm and comforting. The staff were distant and the therapists were late. The entire space was dated and overall unwelcoming. We are such a horrible experiencing at Château Elan. I've said a couple times in the past but nothing substantial like a wedding. We prepaid almost $10,000 for all of our rooms and then upon arrival they charged us again and refused to give us a refund. It took me making threats to involve law-enforcement to get any response and then they have the audacity to call me disrespectful. Our rooms were extremely dirty infested with bugs. I was bitten by a spider. Rather than addressing these issues, the hotel told us not to come back. We are also local businesses here in Gainesville Georgia. Following my checkout on Monday, I realized that my AirPods had been left behind in the hotel room. I promptly contacted the front desk and was transferred to Security who immediately told me to simply file a report with Braselton PD because there wasn't anything they could do (very dismissive with seemingly no investigation performed or assistance rendered). Using Apple's tracking features, I was able to follow their location from Chateau Elan as they were taken off‑site to what appeared to be an employee's residence (an apartment complex in Buford, Ga). It was not until Wednesday--after multiple tracking notifications were triggered (rendering them practically unusable) and an unexpected call was received via the "Lost Items" communication feature--that the AirPods were finally returned to the Elan front desk and, subsequently, to me. It is clear the employee intended to retain my items for their own personal use had I not repeatedly sounded the devices alarm. While I appreciate that the device was ultimately returned, the circumstances surrounding this incident are deeply troubling. Your resort positions itself as a luxury destination, and experiences like this significantly undermine the sense of security, professionalism, and trust that guests expect--especially given the premium price point of the property. As frequent high-end travelers, the lack of empathy (or even the appearance of it) was truly disheartening after we had such a lovely visit. read more

Inn of Chateau Elan will make you feel like royalty. Passing by rows of wine vines, the Inn of Chateau Elan sits just steps beside one of Georgia's best known wine makers. As you walk through the main entrance, you're greeted with an opulent expansive lobby space, gorgeous marble, three massive fireplaces, a plethora of comfortable lounging areas, and soaring ceilings. You will feel like a queen or king arriving to your palace. Then, around the corner from the lobby, the atrium space shared by the restaurant and conference center is breathtaking. Take a large spiral showpiece staircase down to the lower level. In front of you is a cascading water feature. To the right is Versailles, one of the most stunning hotel restaurants I've ever seen with sweeping ceilings, soaring bar, and wood detailing. To the left is several cozy seating areas to relax in the space. My favorite is the blue reading nook filled with books and a beautiful blue wall. And don't forget to look up. A flock of twinkling lights illuminate day and night. Stunning. In the room, spacious accommodations wait for you to retire for the day. Large, comfortable beds are the centerpiece of the room. The bathroom is gorgeous with marble sink, shower, and a huge soaking tub. And don't miss out on the very large closet and stocked mini fridge. On the Inn grounds, they also have a large pool and fire pit area. The front desk has games and equipment for the many amenities that Chateau Elan has to offer. There is never a dull moment when you explore Chateau Elan. The central and main amenity at Chateau Elan is their winery because that is where it all started. When John and I visited, we enjoyed their premium classic tasting in the elegant chateau in their property. The winery is the heart of Chateau Elan! They have tastings of all sizes, wine by the glass, and bottles to take home from muscadine grapes grown on sight and a wide selection of varietals grown in California. You will be on cloud WINE here! The wines we got on the premium classic wine tasting included bubbly and bright brut sparkling wine (fave), followed by the Pinot Grigio Reserve with notes of pear and apple (second fave). We also enjoyed the fruity, sweet rose sparkling wine, citrus and minerality sauvignon blanc, light, crips, and slight oak Chardonnay reserve, and the Greco with notes of olive oil. John's favorite was the sweet Moscato sparkling. Chateau Elan is all about their amenities. When we arrived and received the resort inclusions, we were blown away by just how much they give you for your time there. The Spa at Chateau Elan is the premiere one available for purchase with spa treatments, day passes, and even a clean restaurant, Fleur de Lis! They have so many things to do during a day pass like a hot tub and indoor pool, sauna and steam rooms, spacious and gorgeous locker rooms where you'll get your slippers and robe for the day. On top of all that, free welcome champagne, hot teas, and a snack bar. All of this is with a small lake backdrop outside. They have hammocks for relaxing outside, as well as small cabanas so you can gaze at the lake. Overnight guests are invited to a free noon winery tour where you'll go behind the scenes to hear more about the property history and how it became a winery. You'll go behind the scenes to see where they ferment, barrel, and hold private tastings to learn more about their process and their wine. The tour guide is extremely funny, and we enjoyed every minute of it! Other amenity highlights include a resort pool and firepit area around the Inn. They have a recreational club with tennis, basketball, bocce courts, and volleyball with equipment available! They have a driving range with access to use it and receive one complimentary range token. If you love golf, use the par 3 golf course with a $15 green fee. they also have resort bikes for use and a one-hour tennis court reservation. But one of the coolest is the complimentary 8 am wellness class Monday to Saturday. read more

While the venue was beautiful, there were many concerns that came up during my week long stay. Myself and multiple people from my group experienced suspicious charges to our accounts upon leaving the resort. I was charged for mini bar usage when I never touched anything from the bar. The food was not the most flavorful however, Alexa in Paddy's Pub gave top tier service and gave fantastic recommendations. read more

I was so excited to host my birthday/Galentines celebration with my friends this past Sunday. I had visited in May and had such a great experience, which is why I wanted to return for this special occasion. Unfortunately, the chef was not in at the winery, so food options were very limited, which was disappointing since we were drinking wine. The check-in staff also wasn't very helpful or welcoming, which affected the experience. That said, our tour guide was fantastic, and the wine was excellent. I really hope the food and service experience improves in the future, as this is otherwise a beautiful place to visit. read more
