Ravi picked up and we set an appointment which he arrived to on time. Ravi was considerate and professional, making some great suggestions in the process. Ravi's crew is comprised of some of the nicest people I've ever met. Everyone showed up on time, the work began when Ravi said it would, and the work was completed on the end date we agreed upon at the start. When all work was completed, a thorough clean up was done. Also, as a considerate bonus to us, Ravi gave us the remaining waterproof paint used to seal the cement wall that was built. It was very nice to have experienced doing work with City Suburb, because when you've got people doing a pro job it makes life much less stressful. City Suburb Inc . Ibought my house in 2014. It desperately needed a new roof. I called City Suburb Inc .and they installed my new roof. Recently I encountered something trying to chew through the ceiling in a the top floor bedroom which is directly below the shingles part of my roof. I called City Suburb Inc . They came today to see if there was any problem, upon completion of their inspection there were no roofing issues identified. They provided me with pictures , confirming their findings. Because of miscommunication between CitySuburb and my plumbers, the masonry job by CitySuburb did not go well, which added considerably to the total cost. However, CitySuburb did refund a small amount of my payment in an effort to rectify the situation. Writing this review brings up a lot of bad memories/feelings. But I must warn those of you considering these people. Most of these reviews are fake. City Suburb pays hundreds of dollars a month to a company called 'LinkNow' to post reviews monthly for them. It's at the bottom of their website, look for yourself. They post reviews to google, home advisor, yelp, all of them. They also take down negative reviews for a price. They call them 'citations' to try to hide what they're really doing. Ravinder Singh from City Suburb stole thousands of dollars from me. He changed terms of the contract constantly after signing, invented/added prices, and delivers poor work with his unskilled workers. He charged me $3000 for permits that he never got. After I gave him payment he refused to go get permits and ran off with my money. (Yes, permits were part of the contract that he signed) The concrete driveway he was hired to do looks like children laid it and is starting to crack. One part of it was pitched so wrong that I had to force him to redo it because all the water would have been dumped right into my basement window. He used different color concrete so there's a big patch that is just a different color now. None of the lines are straight and there are no right angles. His workers are very unskilled. The basement cinderblocks he replaced are already showing signs of water coming through. If I can prevent at least one person from falling victim to Ravinder Singh and City Suburb maybe I can finally let this go. There are so many more bad things that happened with these people but this review would turn into an essay if I listed them all. You know what you did Ravinder. I don't know how you sleep at night. read more

I waited a while to write this review as waterproofing is tricky and scary, and you never quite know if things are really fixed.. Well, here I am almost a year later and Ravinder and his crew's repairs to my foundation crack issues (causing leaks in my basement) have held up perfectly! I had gotten quotes and assessments from a couple different companies, and the City Suburb quote was both competitive as well as being the most thorough in scope. They had to dig into the asphalt around my condo building, patch the foundation, re-fill the asphalt and make sure it was sloped away from the building, in addition to fixing some sunken concrete areas elsewhere around the building. I wouldn't hesitate to use Ravinder and City Suburb again, and in fact there are some new structural and waterproofing issues with the building that we are having them assess over the next few weeks. I had Ravi and his guys make some significant repairs to 2 balconies at my house. The work was a combination of metal and masonry. They fixed the cracks and repointed the brick fences at the ends of the decks and patched the holes in the metal that were rotted out from years of water penetration and scraped away all the rust. Finished it off with brick sealant, epoxy paint for the balcony surfaces, and rust oleum for the metal work. This is the 3rd job I have hired City Suburb for and they have always delivered. I hired City Suburb, Inc to do pointing for my entire brick house, and they did an excellent job. This was a large residential job, and the Managing Partner (Ravi) made sure that all work was performed timely and for a reasonable price. Along with the pointing work, the company also replaced the lintels for most of my windows, which were extremely rusted, and again, the prices were reasonable. We hired Ravi and his team to repair and replace our stucco walls on the exterior of our 100 year old house. We had multiple stress fractures in the stucco on the back of the house as well as brick that needed mortar and stucco coverage. The stucco was probably 25 years old! We needed a new drainpipe installed as well as water sealant over the stucco. Additionally we needed some areas sealed on the front of our house where water was coming in. We also had several areas inside the house where we had the brick sealed and waterproofed (around the utilities in the lower level). He did a lot of small areas in addition to the big one. Ravi was attentive and on time with his team every day. He answered my calls and texts right away. He even answered my call at 1am when we had a rainstorm and water was coming in because the new drain pipe hadn't been installed. He was ready to send workers but I told him we could temporarily block the water and it all turned out ok. 2. Ravi's workers are polite and clean up after themselves. They even helped my neighbor with a small issue. 3. The quality of the work was great. I appreciated Ravi's expertise about older buildings and his honesty. He strives to make his clients happy. He even went the extra mile and replaced some cement around the back of our house near the sewer drain so water wouldn't leak in our basement. He also repaired the stone ledges and waterproofed them for uniformity rather than leaving them looking bad. He knows about what an old building can handle weight wise and repair wise. 4. Ravi and his team quickly correct any mistakes and are very responsive when you have an issue. 5. Ravi is a nice guy. He runs an honest business and I would hire him again. My only criticisms would be that: 1. He should have a foreman on site the whole time to make sure the workers were doing what was requested. 2. I wish he gave us a little more time and advice about selecting a color for the coating. We felt rushed and made a mistake color wise but he was good with correcting it and giving us what we wanted. The workers were really good with painting samples for us to hold up to the house. 3. I am probably pretty extreme when it comes to details and there were a few times when I wished I'd been asked before something was done. For example, one of the workers used a really heavy oil paint in an indoor area and I have asthma and pets and would have preferred another type. Ravi quickly corrected it though. 4. We'd agreed upon a price and ended up paying more because we added another area and he found some damage we had missed at our roof line in an interior shaft way we have. He was right that we needed to fix it and so we did and I'm happy he found it but we weren't expecting the extra cost. Next time I'll make sure all the areas are inspected so we don't have surprises. We still feel the price was fair for the amount of work done. 5. We had some extreme weather during the job. It was horribly hot a few days and rained a few more. We had the final waterproofing done and it rained before it had the chance to set in some places. Ravi came back another time and corrected the areas that's were streaked. My only thought is if we'd checked the weather the conditions for the guys and the thorocoat would have been better. All in all, Ravi runs a good business and does a good job. I called Mr. Ravi in order to get some information on brick pointing of my brownstone. In addition I needed parts of the house and façade painted. I had the back wall and the front wall of an attached brownstone waterproofed, pointed and painted (partially). Mr. Ravi was very professional and sent me a proposal. We also negotiated a fair price. I am not an expert but I saw that all the cracks where filled with waterproof cement and the windows were sealed. The front of my brownstone looks now spectacular. The crew was pleasant and when they finished they cleaned up the job site. I would hire the company again for a similar project. read more

Only thing is that they put materials on my garden (I bet they thought it was just weeds lol) and used some of our stuff (tarp, ladder, etc) without asking and kind of ruined our tarp. I was having an overwhelming slow leak in my basement and Ravi and his team looked at it, gave me a quote, and got the job done all within 72 hours. Fortunately none of my things were damaged from the leak, and the basement was completely cleaned up, thanks to Ravi's fast work. Recently I needed to have tuck pointing and lentils replaced on my house, I've seen a lot of bad tuck pointing jobs and did a little research on how tuck pointing is supposed to be done. While City Suburb did a fine job on our repointing project, we were disappointed in the roof work they did for us a few months later. We should have done more research, too, and gotten more estimates, but we were anxious to get the work done, so we rushed into it. Ravi and his team quickly installed asphalt strips over our existing roof material, using the "torch-down" method. After a series of damaging leaks over the next year, a home inspector, contractor, and architects all told us that the old material should have been removed first, and that the torch-down method is not a "best practice" (to put it politely) where we live or for our type of house. I had to chase Ravi for months to get him to return, address the recurring leaks, and honor his workmanship guarantee. Even after he re-sealed some spots, we kept having leaks, which my husband was eventually able to stem with mastic, mesh roofing tape, and caulk. Even after all this, we are still unsure that our "new" roof will last us even a handful of years. Long story short: we can recommend City Suburb for repointing, but not for roofing. read more

Ryan and his team repaired our third-floor balcony. They did the following: replaced a piece of corroded metal on the bottom of the balcony and welded it to the rest of the structure; scraped and painted the other metal pieces; replaced cracked bricks on the facade of the building; removed existing brick pointing around the base of the balcony and pointed it back; filled cracks on the balcony floor with waterproof cement and applied a floor coating. We are really happy with the quality of work and professionalism. Addressing the issue of the corroded metal (which had become detached from the balcony and was hanging down) was tricky, but Ryan listened to our concerns and was able to address our needs with a solution that we felt comfortable with. After a difficult winter, several rows of steps on my front stoop had sunken and became a serious tripping hazard. As I share this stoop with my neighbor- whose section was not crumbling- my biggest concern was to match the color and style as close as possible. It was clear 3 rows would have to be removed & rebuilt, and everything else grinded out & re-pointed to match the new mortar. I also wanted to make sure any new bricks would match the existing bricks. Ryan offered an initial estimate based on photos I texted him, but I had some specific add-ons I wanted to make sure were understood, so I requested he come in person. (In fact, of the 5 contractors I called, Ryan was the only one who arrived on time to give an estimate.) With a better understanding of what my project would entail, his estimate was slightly below what others had provided, so based on this, his professionalism and excellent reviews I selected City Suburb. His team was very hardworking and courteous, and were able to complete my work in one day (9:30am-7pm). They were able to re-use many of the old bricks and when they couldn't, matched new ones very well. Their grinding and re-pointing work came out beautiful- so many contractors do a sloppy job, but not these guys.
