I signed a contract with them to install sod, cut down and grind stumps of 2 large bushes, deliver…read moreenriched soil and plant some shrubs. The time frame was about 6 weeks out about mid July. I asked if the space for sod and shrubs should be weed free and they stated yes. I did receive instructions on how to care for the sod a week before they came. The sod was installed fine, the enriched soil was delivered and the shrubs were cut down with about a foot left. The stump grinder would come a few days later and the planting would be done in October. Well the stump grinder was actually someone with a tractor and a plow and the mess left was unbelievable. Dirt and large pieces of wood all around the area. The contract specifically stated "grind stump". I called the company several times to speak to the owners with no result, and I even took pictures and brought them in. I also had questions about the enriched soil, since weeds grew almost immediately and covered the planting area. Finally, I received an email from the owner who stated she had told us we would have to be meticulous about the weeds. She did not, nor did she state how soon and prolific the weeds would grow. They did come out and do a "courtesy" weed removal and therefore I would have "no further reason to contact the office", and also stated that someone had cleaned up the stump area. It was not done very well as I still had protruding stumps and chips of wood present along with dirt on top of the grass. I did complain about the stump grinding while they were there as I had expected a typical grinder. The owners then sent me an email basically ending the contract. Since I did not trust them anymore I agreed. The owners never once returned a phone call or took ownership of the stump grinding mess. I am so disappointed and angry that they thought so little of their customer they couldn't even make a phone call back and basically stated I criticized them therefore they would no longer honor their contract. I do not recommend this company.

She Knows which plants and flowers will do well in shade and sun and how the landscaping needs to flow etc. My wife and I were very impressed with her knowledge. The guys that came to do the work were true professionals. They did a great job and were very friendly. This is the best our yard has ever looked We have tried several other landscapers and are going to stick with Piedmont. I am already thinking about some things that I want to do in our yard next year and will definitely be calling Piedmont to do the work for us.

In 2011, my best friend and I purchased a Gleaner G Hydro combine harvester from another dear…read morefriend of ours in Kalvesta, Kansas. The combine had been sold new by our buddy's dad and had made its way back to the dealership through some trades. It was in terrific condition. The purchase of this combine was part of our farming efforts for the foodbank which we had started several years earlier. Our hope was to grow and harvest organic edible beans for distribution to the hungry in the same way we had done with squash and turnips. Around 2015, the foodbank sought to add additional facilities and the position of these facilities would make it impossible for us to move the combine from the farming area out to the road. We decided to take the combine and several other pieces of equipment across the street to Shoemaker Irrigation/ Athens Camper Storage. We parked the equipment on the lot near campers and agreed to the $160 monthly fee for storage. The combine was stored for 7 years, and we knew it would some work before we could drive it. Normally, that included replacing the fuel, battery and filters and then checking tires, brakes and electrical. When came to retrieve the combine later, we could not locate the combine initially. It had been moved from its original spot, and we eventually found it in some trees off to the side. We found tremendous damage to the machine consistent with having been pushed by heavy machinery. The rear axle was broken. The steel ladder was fully bent to one side. The feeder drum was caved in, and the cleaning shoe had two distinct puncture holes. The header and trailer were even worse. Both appeared to have fallen down a hill, and the header was completely destroyed. The 4x4 Iron tongue of the header trailer was bent nearly 20 degrees. This wonderful machine which had been so cherished and that we had such hopes to continue our efforts with was essentially destroyed. I contacted the storage company who initially accused me of abandoning the machine. I reminded them that I had paid for storage every month for over seven years. I requested the return of my storage fees and repair or replacement fees for the combine. I was told they have lawyers and businesses and are not obligated to compensate us at all. As no one claimed to know what had happened to the machine, I filled a police report that my equipment had been damaged. The detective was told that a person responsible could not be identified. Using satellite imagery, I was able to determine a date that appears to show significant land work occurring on the property several years ago and there appears to be a clear indicator that our machinery, as well as other items was moved at roughly the same time. After our initial statement of concern, it appeared that someone tried to weld the rear axle back together which I found odd if the facility was not responsible for the damage. After the police investigation concluded, I receive a message from Showmaker Irrigation to move the equipment immediately or it would be towed to my location at my cost. As the equipment was so heavily damaged that it could not be driven (it had been driven onto the lot originally) and had been parked in mud, my cost to tow the machinery to my office was an additional $1200. When the equipment arrived at my office; someone had thrown several 5-gallon buckets of what appears to be used motor oil into the grain bin. I've worked in the farm machinery business for several decades and I've never even heard of a customer or their equipment being treated this poorly. I don't farm a lot of land but I farm enough to know that trust between equipment retailer and farmer is crucial. In my operation, I need people who treat my time, needs and equipment as if it is their own. I'm not buying from Shoemaker Equipment even again nor will I buy the brands they sell. Honesty and integrity still matter in the farming business.
