I would certainly recommend staying here if you are coming to Agrigento to see The Valley of the Temples. The staff do a wonderful job making sure you have a nice breakfast prepared each morning, the only hiccup was when I asked for Tea and got a lovely cappuccino, after some awkward moments I used Google Image search to show what I wanted. The poor staff member was embarrassed and quickly put the kettle on and found some tea bags in the cupboard. I had a lovely nights sleep here and the bathroom was good and the rooms were a good size. It was very peaceful at night and I ended up hanging out upstairs taking some photos of the night sky.

This hidden villa on the countryside of Randazzo was a true and authentic experience. No frills, no tourist traps hotel. The grounds are gorgeous and the rooms clean and updated. The owner let us tour the cantina where the family used to make wine. We were also allowed to sample fresh wine and produce growing from the land. The on-site restaurant was also great. They were just finishing the pool back then, I'm sure it's a beautiful escape from the heat by now. I highly recommend this place and stopping in Randazzo (near mount Etna).

Professionally everything is there; clean and with great comfort. The rooms are big, the breakfast excellent and the car keeps right outside your door. Personally you interact with Mr. and Mrs. Tomaselli on every issue concerning your stay and they put a lot of effort into helping you finding what´s best. When we were not hiking on Etna or walking the woods of Nicolosi at Monti Rossi, we sat down on our terrace with a cup of coffee experiencing the air around this wonderful volcano. Staying at B&B di Alfio Tomaselli meant the opportunity to get to know the life people live and for that we are most thankful.

The owner and host Francesco, is the best B&B host we have ever experienced. He is passionate about what Palermo and his B&B have to offer. The location is in the city, but outside the old historic center so there is parking available near the unit for you to park your car and leave it during your entire stay. There is also frequent bus transportation to the historic center and other parts of town within 3 blocks. Because it is a residential area you have very good restaurants close by. No horrible touristic menus to be found anywhere near here. The unit itself is extremely comfortable. It is on the 12th floor - a penthouse and has an amazing terrace outside of the unit with an additional very large terrace on the 13th floor above it. There are commanding views of the entire city from the terraces. The room itself is well appointed with dark wood wainscoting and floors and tasteful decor. The ensuite bathroom is incredibly large for an inner-city room and includes an oversized soaking bathtub and a separate large shower. The WiFi worked very well in the unit and nearby terrace just outside the room. Francesco, is incredibly hospitable. He takes much pride in providing exceptional service to his guests. The suggestions of what sites to visit, how best to arrive there, where to eat and anything else you can think of in the city are extremely helpful. Breakfasts are without compare to other bed and breakfast locations. Francesco caters them specifically to your wishes. This is not a cookie cutter breakfast, it is made with great care and the desire to please. We requested some savory meats and cheeses and were surprised to find a perfectly ripe cherry tomato salad, delicious caponata, calzone with local bread, prosciutto, home grown basil and fresh mozzarella along with fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juice and yogurt. A schiacciata (sp?) of cooked ham and cheese was also included - enough for breakfast, lunch and more! We stayed two nights and felt very comfortable here. The privacy of being the only guests is great! We felt pampered. We highly recommend Attic 12 to savvy travelers who want to experience Palermo from a local's perspective.

The honesty bar is a lovely feature as is the ability to make tea/coffee and the place has been fitted out with style. We would agree that the lighting in our bedroom was poor and for a place that celebrates books, this is a shame. All it needs is two good angle lamps in the bedroom and the situation is resolved. The shower was impressive, but sadly some of the modern features were showing there age in the bathroom, with dents on the fixtures and mold starting in the shower area. That said the bed was very comfortable and the place was quiet. The simple breakfast offered was both tasty and fresh, and the dining area was again very creatively designed. We did notice that there seemed to be no a/c in our bedroom, which in the height of summer may be an issue, but in May it was no problem.

As the place was quiet anyone who wanted a slightly more urban type vibe would be disappointed, but this place was a real local find and the owner could not have made more of an effort to try and look after two poorly visitors. So instead of Siri leading us to the doorstep of our B and B, we asked directions of two women working in the kitchen of a not yet open restaurant. So were the fixed price meals of the day (16 euro) for three courses, wine, water, and bread. The real attraction was a hot and cold buffet for 12 euros. Rice balls filled with meat cheese and vegetables were incredible as well as the eggplant parmigiana, artichokes and so much more. Our pasta and swordfish entrees were also excellent, as were the fig and banana tortas. Loved the local red and white wines, too. The restaurant was a perfect welcome back to Sicily ... and a reminder we have been away too long.
