I stopped by after their normal Saturday business hours, expecting them to be closed, so I was delighted to find them open. The service was warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. The dough maker, whom I believe was named Aliza (apologies if I have the name wrong), was there preparing fresh dough, which was wonderful to see. I was fortunate to find a few pastries still available, including the Chile Verde and Beef with Cabbage. The Beef with Cabbage pastry was flavorful and especially enjoyable with their homemade "Hot & Spicy" sauce. While I would have preferred the pastry dough to be a bit crispier, I purchased it after hours and was still very pleased with the quality and taste. Overall, it was a delightful surprise and a very enjoyable experience. I also picked up one Chocolate Brownie with walnuts and a slice of their homemade Carrot cake. I had the carrot cake and it was outstanding! Fresh, flavorful, and loaded with carrots and walnuts, it was everything a great carrot cake should be. Road trip home from Colorado Springs to California, great stop on I80 is Elko, NV! Cute downtown and this amazing gem! We saw the large Cornish Pasties sign and knew we Needed to try them! So stoked to see that a local restaurant lived up to the hype. So so very good. Really very happy and grateful to have stopped here for a quick bite before heading to the museum. Going back a few years ... like 40+ years, I used to go to B.J. Bulls in Los Gatos CA. Sadly that location no longer exists. When I heard about a B.J. Bulls existing in Elko I always wondered if they had any connection with the stores located in the San Francisco Bay Area. This past Thursday (6/26/2025) I had a chance to visit the Elko location. Much to my great pleasure I found that the owner had previously owned the B.J. Bulls located in Palo Alto CA. Now the true test. Were the Cornish Pastries the same as I remember. I'm pleased to say that yes they are. I bought a Breakfast Pastry along with a Chicken & Rice. Both are fantastic. I ate the Breakfast Pastry at their store, and brought the Chicken & Rice home to be eaten today. Now the true challenge. First time in Elko, NV for my wife and I. Headed to Wildhorse reservoir. Checked this place out per Yelp reviews. Totally accurate on reviews. We tried the Beef and mushroom Pastie and small pecan pie. Both so darn tasty. The Pastie was so warm and tasty it reminded me of a freshly cooked delicious pot pie. Okay the pasties here are the real deal. The crusts are crisp and firm, the filling hearty and full bodied. Because I'm on the road, had to limit my selection to two, choosing the beef potato and chicken curry. Ate the beef potato at the dog park in SLC. That speaks loads for the pasties crust. My only constructive feedback would be to have a touch more beef and a tad less potatoes. The chicken curry pastie was totally delish. It was stellar, with distinct curry flavoring that wasn't overpowering or hot. The slightly sweet finish because of the raisins, made it that much more satisfying. They should really make this a regular item on their pasties menu, instead of a special. Also ordered a couple of small pies. The mini apple pie was delish. The apples still had body and some crunch. The apple filling was overly sweet or syrupy. Cinnamon was spot on, not over powering like some places. The mini peach pie was comparable and similar to the apple pie. Firm pavers with a slight crunch to the peach. Good peach flavor and again just the right level of sweetness for my preference. The only down side for the mini fruit pies was... Wishing I had access to an oven to crisp up the center of the fruit pie crusts, then they would be perfection. Sadly, I'm on the road and sans oven. read more

What a hidden gem! What a find! What a treasure!! Cornish Pasties!? I'd never tried Cornish meat pasties before. I've made meat pies homemade from leftover stew once , but that's the closest I've gotten to anything like this. I knew the history of Cornish meat pies from my mom. She told me how miners wives would make them meat pies because the mines are dark, and the men needed an easier and faster way to eat. Elko is known for their mines, so I had to try it this little piece of history. The building consists of a cute little kitchen with a brick and mortar style counter for ordering. The menu is very simple, which I believe makes these even better. They value quality over quantity, with everything made from scratch. The employees are super nice and the lady who took my order was the sweetest. I tried the Beef and Mushroom pie, the Breakfast pie, and I got the special to take home, which was a Ham and Au Gratin pie. And I of course had to get a few of their homemade meat pie sauces! That ham pie is frozen, so I'll be attempting to heat it for lunch tomorrow in my air fryer. I decided to break into the Beef and mushroom first because the menu said it had whole button mushrooms! I can't even describe how delicious this meat filling is. Beef, whole mushrooms, and sautéed onions make up this pie and it does NOT disappoint in flavor. The crust is flaky and reminded me of a pot pie crust. The breakfast pie is scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage. It was full of filling and very tasty, but the beef one was my absolute favorite. I'll definitely be going back to B.J's! I can't wait to try different pies like the chili verde and the chicken and rice. Or the many desserts like bread pudding, and all the fruit pies they have! If you ever travel between reno and salt lake city this is a great must stop a little off the path for a good mom and pop bakery. Specializing in Pasties or hand pies which are also close to the Hispanic empanadas. Very simple yet elegant in a way. This stop was early when they 1st opened so breakfast it was. The Hot breakfast Pastie has sausage eggs and I think potatoes. I didn't get any sauces or anything as I was eating this on my drive. It was filled must've had at least 2 scrambled eggs in that thing. Was super hot fresh and loved the little crunch on the pinched edges. Also been wanting that rhubarb pie for a while now and finally got it. While I like the tartness of rhubarb I may pass on this one since I seen my fave pumpkin too so was thinking about the pumpkin the whole drive lol. Pies are great, outside a little sugar sprinkle on top and nice crust on top. Bottom was a little under cooked partially cause of the very wet filling as well. What a delightful find in Elko. Pasties, the "original" miner meal and I grew up with these. Plus delicious fruit pies available. I drove by wondering if it was open. The flashing open sign today gave me hope. Walked in to find a small area with a few seats by the wall and a place to order the pasties and a reach in cooler for pies. I chose the meat pie and the rhubarb mini pie. Both were excellent. I thought there was a lot of pie dough for the pie though the rhubarb had excellent flavor. I'll be back. read more

These are the best Pasties I have had in two states I have not had a decent Pastie in years, until now. My wife and I both had the Breakfast Pastie. But our favorite was the beef and mushroom one we bought frozen and took home with us! We also got a carrot cake, which was YUMMY! Let me first start with what the picture is- pumpkin bread pudding. I HAD to have it because ... well, PUMPKIN. It's like pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread had an affair and this is their beautiful child they never knew they needed or wanted. It comes with a praline sauce but honestly, it doesn't need it. It covers up the spices. Tip: heat the bread up. Now.. the pasties. When we first moved to Reno from the Midwest we stopped here... and then on another trip back across the state, we had to stop again! Pasty spots aren't easy to come by so this spot is such a treat! We've had 4 different pasties. All great. My favorite was the Chile verde. We also tried the mini pecan pie which hit the spot. We will keep stopping in here when we can. I've been loving the Cornish pasties from here since they first opened in Palo Alto. Marcie was great, her son carried the tradition to Elko, and the new owners continue to keep the flame alive. The various pasties are all great but my favorite is the Cornish, which is basically a big chunk of ground beef and diced potatoes in a pastry crust. Very filing and a good deal. Sometimes they have frozen pasties to take and bake. The sweet pies are also still excellent; I'm partial to the strawberry rhubarb and pecan pies. The new shop is fine but very limited seating; it's pretty much a takeaway. We make a point to go through Elko every so often just to get a bunch, and we live in Western Oregon. Definitely worth a stop if you're anywhere near Elko. read more

I can't comment on the pasties, since I stopped here after lunch and only ordered dessert, but their double chocolate walnut brownie was very delicious. You can either get a room temperature dessert in the case at the counter or pull one from the refrigerator for a cold one.
