The dough maker, whom I believe was named Aliza (apologies if I have the name wrong), was there preparing fresh dough, which was wonderful to see. I was fortunate to find a few pastries still available, including the Chile Verde and Beef with Cabbage. The Beef with Cabbage pastry was flavorful and especially enjoyable with their homemade "Hot & Spicy" sauce. While I would have preferred the pastry dough to be a bit crispier, I purchased it after hours and was still very pleased with the quality and taste. Overall, it was a delightful surprise and a very enjoyable experience. I also picked up one Chocolate Brownie with walnuts and a slice of their homemade Carrot cake. I had the carrot cake and it was outstanding! Fresh, flavorful, and loaded with carrots and walnuts, it was everything a great carrot cake should be. I've enjoyed desserts at five-star restaurants and have family members that easily ranks among the best bakers and this cake was delicious!!! Every mouthful was pure deliciousness, and my taste buds were extremely happy. I would gladly order it again!

Several years later I found myself back here for work and told my co-workers we have to eat here. Inside is a quaint little cafe that has been around for years. On the day we were here the place was very busy because of the Cowboy poetry annual event was in town. Either way service was awesome and so was the food. I got the daily quiche with ham and veggies with a side salad. This was delicious! I would highly recommend this spot to anyone passing through or visiting. My review today is not good because the check-out clerk was rude and it's the second time she's been rude to me. She had really short dark brown hair and wears glasses. This would have been around 9:15 or 9:20 when I checked out. My receipt says Tam is the name but I didn't get a look at her name tag. I really don't like giving bad reviews especially when the store always looks clean and I can usually find what I need but I think the rudeness needs to be addressed. Hopefully a supervisor can have a conversation with the worker.

I'm not sure how much this store has changed since my mom worked there and I felt like I was cool because I was able to go find my mom and go places other people couldn't go. I grew up going to this store,and I even worked in the bakery for a few years. It was always the cleanest,friendliest,and had a great variety. Things that were in my opinion ahead of their time. A natural foods department that was well stocked with vegetarian and vegan food. A great deli and of course bakery. From memory it was a great store. It kept me clothed,fed,and entertained.
