Found through Groupon, made an appointment for a haircut and style, deep conditioning treatment and balayage. Brought a photo of what i wanted, REMEMBER THAT. Explained that i understood my hair could not be lightened that much in one day, but that i liked how it was a blend from dark to light with a nice honey beige mid color. My hair tends to go brassy fast and i told her i can tone at home also with sallys toner and shampoo to help with that as well. She worked on my hair for 4 hours and told me she was going to make my hair very ashy since i mentioned the brass issue. In my mind, ashy is cool blue gray tones... after rinsing she made excuses for missing areas of hair with the bleach by saying my hair didn't take to it. LOL. Clearly she thought i was an idiot, because that's not how bleach works. she applied the toner to my hair, she panicked and said she had to hurry up and rinse it out because she didn't like the color. I just kept telling myself its fine, even if she makes some mistakes I'm sure she'll fix it and that's all that really matters. ..i also want to mention how rough these women are while washing and drying. WOW! they rip through your hair like they hate you.
when she finished it was nearly 9:30pm and based on the light in the salon i thought it was just brassy (which i can work on at home) i didn't get a good feel for the color until the next morning, when i saw that it was lime green in daylight.
Back up to the appointment. I'm not a stylist but i have a good idea of what a balayage looks like. It's supposed to have a somewhat natural gradient, not a strong line of demarcation. It looked like i box dyed my hair two months ago and never retouched the roots. I asked if i could come back another day and work on blending out that line? She became defensive stating i should have brought photos and next time make sure to bring photos (i DID bring a photo). I was surprised she reacted that way and just paid and left... you can't reason with someone in that state of mind. they charged an extra $35 for the toner on top of my $60 Groupon.. i knew toner would be extra but most places charge 10 for toner. I even tipped 20. When i got home and really got a chance to look through my hair i saw how sloppy it was, bleach splats through the roots, brown spots through the ends, etc...
Based on how she responded at the appointment it was pretty clear she would not be fixing it, so i made an appointment with my old stylist at a really upscale salon and spa to get it fixed. My husband convinced me to call and let her or her manager know how dissatisfied i was with the situation so they can at least work on their customer recovery skills, so i did call and spoke with one of two owners. I told her i was shocked that she charged me extra for the toner after she must have seen how splotchy my hair was as she was cutting and drying it. There's no way she could have missed it, but instead of being forthcoming and offering to fix it another day or at least not charging me extra she just played dumb and acted like she did a great job and was suprised i didn't like it.
The owner offered to have it fixed or refund the cost of just the toner. i didn't trust that the girl wouldn't be spiteful and wreck my hair, so she scheduled me with the salon manager, who she said had 12 years experience so i agreed to let her correct it. i came in and everyone seemed very professional and the mgr and other owner came up with a correction plan. I had apologized several times for getting so upset over it, even thigh i don't feel iwas being unreasonable. i was just bothered by how it was handled in the beginning. Its hard to not take your work personally, i get it. After being there for another 4 hours, my hair looked much better. she did a very nice job.
THEN..
As I'm waiting for my husband to pick me up (we just turned in our lease and haven't settled on another car yet) i hear the owner making fun of me to her client! She was literally 10 feet away from me and i was plainly visible. Once she realized i was still there, instead of apologizing she BUSTS OUT LAUGHING. UNBELIEVABLE! I just sat their flabbergasted. When my husband arrived i made sure to tip the girl who fixed my hair and just left. I am so glad to be done with this place.
I feel iwas treated poorly because i found them through Groupon. I am new to Groupon, i didn't realize it would make me be viewed as a cheap client, which iam not. Isn't the point to gain new clientele? Why even offer aGroupon at all then?? You missed out on a good paying client. Pretty suprising for a business that's only been open for three years. I'd recommend not gossiping to your clients if you are trying to run a successful business. No matter who it is in that chair, even if it's your best friend... they might yuck it up with you in the moment, but what they are really taking away is that they can never mention any complaints they have or you will bash them behind their back, too. read more
